Kourtney, still cradled in Sebastian’s arms, marveled at the transformation around her. The oppressive atmosphere had shifted; where once there had been jeers and mockery, now there was fear and awe.
Even the tall leader backed away like her whole confidence was shattered by the mere presence of Sebastian.
He was not just any man.
He was a billionaire who made the world tremble with his influence.
And this formidable man was Hers!
Her husband!
Yet, she had been taking him for granted.
She felt Sebastian’s grip tighten protectively around her, and she couldn’t help but lean into him, feeling the steady rhythm of his heartbeat.
“Take them all in,” he ordered, his voice low and deadly. “No one can hurt my Wife and go scout-free. They’ll face the consequences of their actions.”
The bodyguards nodded, moving with precision as they began to round up the female inmates, their once cocky expressions now filled with terror.
As the guards began to handle the situation, Sebastian turned back to Kourtney, his expression softening like she was the most precious thing in his life…. like she was the most important person in his world.
And perhaps she was!
His voice dropped to a tender murmur, contrasting sharply with the fury that had just rolled off him. “Are you okay?”
Kourtney blinked weakly at him, her heart racing as she took in the worry etched across her husband’s face. “I…I think so,” she managed to voice out.
She could see the tension in his jaw, the way his eyes flared with concern for her.
“You’re going to be okay,” he reassured her, placing a soft kiss on her forehead despite her dirt-stricken face.
Kourtney was taken aback by his gesture.
It was a simple gesture, yet it held such a great depth.
How could this man, renowned for his obsessive cleanliness and meticulous lifestyle, offer her a kiss despite her disheveled appearance?
The media had painted Sebastian as a neat freak, a man whose life was governed by precision and order. Yet here he was, kissing her forehead despite how messy and dirty she looked at that moment.
But he didn’t even stop there……
She blinked, her heart racing even faster as he continued to place soft, wet kisses around her face, almost as if he were trying to erase the remnants of her ordeal.
As his lips moved from her forehead to her cheeks, Kourtney’s heart fluttered.
It was as if, with every kiss, he was affirming his love for her, a promise that he would always protect her from the world’s cruelty. He brushed his lips against her teary eyes, and she closed them, allowing herself to absorb the moment.
She felt butterflies dancing in her stomach.
It was sweet and intoxicating.
Just when she felt herself drowning in his sweet kisses, Sebastian pulled back slightly to meet her gaze. “You’re my princess. And I will never let anyone treat you like that again.”
His words hung in the air, powerful and filled with conviction.
Tender yet possessive!
It made Kourtney realize she’d really been a fool for ever being careless with this man.
But thank goodness, now, she had woken up from her slumber.
She was His princess!
And they would all pay for treating her like this!
“Fire every officer on duty today. The ones who mistreated and manhandled my wife,” Sebastian commanded a frightened senior police officer after carrying Kourtney back to the lobby of the precinct.
His voice was a low growl, and each word was laced with an unmistakable threat that echoed through the whole place like a gunshot. He expected nothing less than justice for what they did to his precious wife.
The officer gulped, fear evident in his eyes. “B-but sir, I-”
“No excuses,” Sebastian cut him off, his gaze piercing. “You’ll do as I say, or you’ll regret it.”
The threat was clear, and the officer quickly nodded, scrambling to do his bidding. He was clearly shaken by the billionaire’s unexpected presence. Even Governors were intimidated by this man, much less him, a mere Chief of Police.
“Yes, sir! It will be done, immediately.”
Kourtney watched as Sebastian’s anger simmered beneath the surface.
‘You didn’t have to do that. I mean, firing them? Isn’t that a bit extreme?’
Those were the stupid words she would have said to him before.
However, now, she couldn’t care less or give a fuck!
It was as if she had suddenly become reborn.
Her husband was fierce, but his ferocity was directed solely at those who had dared to hurt her.
So why does she have to bother?
Right now, a part of her couldn’t help but feel a rush of pride that such a powerful man would go to such lengths for her.
Meanwhile, Edwin and Lilian had also been waiting for them in the lobby.
On sighting them, Lilian rushed forward, her eyes wide with concern. “Kourtney! Are you okay? Oh my God… you look like you’ve gone to hell and back,” she exclaimed, her voice rising in pitch.
Kourtney offered a weak smile, trying to reassure her friend. “I’m fine now.”
“You don’t look fine,” Lilian insisted, her eyes scanning Kourtney’s battered appearance. “What did they do to you?”
“It’s okay, really,” Kourtney replied, forcing herself to sound convincing.
What could she say? She had indeed been through hell just moments ago, but the fact that Sebastian was here with her made everything feel more bearable.
She didn’t want to relive the ordeal, not when Sebastian was right there, his protective arms and aura wrapping around her like a shield as he carried her like a baby.
However, she was grateful for her friend, knowing that Lilian had played a pivotal role in helping her husband find her.
Despite everything, Kourtney was still thankful to the universe for having a loving and trusted person like Lilian in her life.
Unlike the people in her family, Lilian had never once failed her.
