Chapter 2397: Found the Parents

“A tiger father has no dog son,” Agnes deflected his words, while also complimenting Mr. Johnsons with high emotional intelligence.
“Agnes, I’ve suddenly realized something,” Ansel said seriously.
“What is it?” Agnes looked up, “What did you realize?” She felt a bit guilty about spending the night at Mr. Cat’s house last night. But on second thought, he shouldn’t know about that.
Ansel looked at her earnestly and after three seconds couldn’t help but laugh, “You’ve become more beautiful!”
“…”
Agnes was speechless.
Then the waiter came over, “May I take your order? We have three new signature set menus.”
They began to order food. Agnes didn’t stand on ceremony with him; having grown up together, she felt no need to be reserved around him.
During the meal, they talked about work and life but avoided discussing feelings.
Ansel happily told her that starting next week he would be a full-time university teacher with a stable job.
“A teacher should have the demeanor of a teacher, and their personality should be more stable, right?” Agnes smiled, “Congratulations on embarking on a new journey!”
“Agnes, please stop thinking I’m immature! I’ve graduated! I’ve grown up! I have a job now!” Ansel was full of hope for the future, “In the future, I will definitely be able to support a family!”
“Alright, alright, don’t get excited. We shall see.”
“Agnes, I’m telling you now, I will seriously pursue you from now on,” Ansel couldn’t help but talk about feelings again, “very very seriously.”
Agnes glanced at him briefly, “Eat more; you’re still growing.”
She ignored his topic.
“I’m serious. Don’t think this is a joke.”
“I’ve told you before; it’s impossible between us.”
“As long as one works hard, anything is possible!”
“Ansel!”
“Alright, alright, I won’t say anymore!”
Whenever he talked about feelings, she would clearly reject him. In her heart, there was only room for Mr. Cat.
This feeling of having someone in her heart was wonderful; it made her look forward to every new day.
But he had a flight tomorrow afternoon…
He was leaving…
Thinking of this, the girl’s brow furrowed slightly, and her heart felt as if it was being pierced by thousands of needles.
She wanted to keep him but had no reason or status to do so.
But Ansel did not notice the change in her emotions and continued sharing his five-year plan for the future with her.
His words implied that he hoped she would be part of his future-where to buy a house and what improvements to make in the future.
Agnes listened absentmindedly, occasionally responding with a word or two.
Lunch ended at three in the afternoon.
Spencer brought a pair of extras to meet Agnes. They were around fifty years old and often played a high-knowledge couple in short dramas.
They weren’t very well-known and had unfamiliar faces on screen.
They had good looks and temperament, were not expensive to hire, and were kind and easy to communicate with-meeting all of Agnes’s requirements.
Agnes was very satisfied upon meeting them.
“Thank you,” she said sincerely from the bottom of her heart.
“You’re welcome. I’ll leave now; you can discuss the details,” Spencer said to her.
“I still need to discuss wedding-related matters with Mom and Dad.”
The mom and dad he referred to were Agnes’s parents. Spencer was indeed very considerate.
“Mm-hmm.”
After Spencer left, Agnes took the couple to a nearby cafe for a chat.
After hearing Agnes’s explanation, they found it easy to accept the job: just have dinner tonight and attend an engagement ceremony tomorrow. The pay was quite good too.
They had performed such scenes many times before; many lines could be reused effortlessly.
Everyone had a pleasant conversation.
Agnes also asked them to keep it secret from Spencer and signed a confidentiality agreement with them.
She didn’t want any mishaps; she just wanted to do everything she could to help Mr. Cat with this task.
She loved him unconditionally and without limits.
Perhaps one day in the future when Agnes looked back on today’s events, she would find it hard to believe how humble love could make someone-making ridiculous sacrifices time and again.
Tonight’s dinner at the Fritz family manor was destined to be enjoyable; Lisa had also left.
