Gio didn’t go to Russia because he knew we were having a disagreement, and he forced himself to come home so we could talk, and then he found us like this. Imagine what he must have felt the moment he saw us.
“What’s going on?” Elliott asked. Dario just shook his head and had me sit on the sofa. David fetched some water for me out of pity, and Elliott still seemed bewildered.
I waited for Gio for hours. I thought he might come home eventually, but he still hadn’t arrived. What time was it, and Gio still wasn’t here?
“Dario.”
Dario continued to watch over me. He was quite a distance away, but I knew he was keeping an eye on me.
“Can you come with me?” I told Dario where I wanted to go, and he accompanied me without any complaints.
We were allowed entry by the guard since he knew Dario. I wasn’t sure if Gio was still awake, but I hoped he was.
They must have been informed that I was here because when I was let inside their house, he was already waiting for me.
“Millie,” he greeted me.
“Taddeo.”
I felt ashamed to face him in my current state. I am such a mess right now. My eyes and nose were red, and my situation was chaotic.
“Have a seat. What do you need?”
He told his housekeeper to bring food and drinks, which I immediately declined.
“Taddeo, who is it?” Beatrice asked. She came downstairs from the second floor of the house. She was surprised to see me but quickly approached me when she saw my condition. I smiled timidly at her, trying to compose myself. “Millie, what happened?” Beatrice asked with concern.
We sat on the sofa, with Beatrice beside me and Taddeo in front of us. Beatrice gently rubbed my back to comfort me, and I was grateful for her gesture.
“Sorry for coming without notice.” I was trying to hold back my tears, pinching my hand to prevent myself from crying, but in the end, I failed. “I just wanted to ask if you know where my husband might be. He still hasn’t come home, and I’m getting worried.”
Taddeo’s gaze turned dark. I felt scared because it seemed like even though he knew, he wouldn’t tell me.
“Why are you asking me? Aren’t you his wife?” I pursed my lips, hurt by Taddeo’s words.
“Taddeo!” Beatrice scolded him. I saw Taddeo close his eyes.
“He wants to be alone tonight. Let him be.”
“I won’t be able to sleep if I don’t know where Gio is. We just had an argument. Please, Taddeo. Tell me where he is. I need to talk to him.”
Taddeo remained silent, his gaze fixed on me as if he were contemplating whether to tell me or not.
Finally, he sighed before speaking. “Fine, I will tell you.”
Taddeo gave me the exact address, and thankfully, Dario already knew it.
“Millie…” I froze as Taddeo called me again before leaving. He stood up and put his hand in his pocket, looking at me seriously. “Gio’s emotions are all over the place right now. He’s angry, jealous, hurt, and more. These feelings are foreign to him, and you’re the only one who can evoke them. Maybe that’s one reason why he doesn’t want to face you because his mind is in turmoil.”
Taddeo took a deep breath, seemingly disappointed about something.
“I know entering this kind of relationship is new for you. You don’t have much experience in relationships, and yet, you got married and tied yourself down so quickly. You may not know what to do, and on top of that, you’re eager to socialize with others. But let me give you this advice.”
I was absorbed by Taddeo’s seriousness.
“Not everyone is good. Some are tigers disguised in human clothing. Everyone has their own agenda. Don’t trust anyone too easily, whether they’re your friend or anyone else. I hope this serves as a lesson.”
Taddeo’s words shook me, but I took them to heart. I nodded before thanking him and leaving.
We quickly arrived at Gio’s current location, but the car didn’t enter because the gate wasn’t opened.
“Dario?”
“I’ll talk to the guard, Ma’am.” Dario stepped out of the car and approached the gate.
I peered through the window, but I couldn’t hear what they were talking about. Eventually, I saw Dario furrow his brow and get back into the car.
“They won’t let us in. They said Sir Gio ordered not to allow anyone inside,” Dario said.
I bit my lip forcefully. I must have hurt Gio badly, which is why things were like this now, and he didn’t want to see me.
I stepped out of the car even when Dario called me back. I approached the gate.
“Please… tell him that I’m here. Tell them I need to talk to him,” I said into the intercom to make sure the guard could hear me.
“The message is that Mrs. Locatelli is here for Boss. Should we let her in?” I heard the guard say.
It took quite a while before I received a response.
“Ma’am, they said you should go home.”
I felt crushed by the guard’s words. Gio really didn’t want to see me. Even though he knew I was here, he didn’t want to see me. He was that angry with me, and I had hurt him that much with what happened earlier.
“Gio!” I didn’t stop, even when I was being told to go home. “Please, I want to talk to you.”
I knew he could probably hear me. This house was smaller than our mansion, and it was close to the gate. Its design was more modern than our usual home.
“Please, Gio…”
I called his name several times, but it seemed like no one was listening to me. My voice was being drowned out by my sobs, but still, there was no response.
I sat down and hugged my knees, burying my face in them, crying softly as I continued to call Gio’s name in a weak voice.
“Ma’am, let’s go home.”
I pushed away Dario’s hand as he tried to comfort me. I faced him, and he was taken aback, probably seeing how deeply I was affected by my crying.
“I don’t want to go home. I won’t leave until I talk to Gio! I’m not leaving until I’m with him! We have an issue to settle, and we need to talk. If you want to go home, Dario, then go!”
I didn’t intend to shout or raise my voice at him. Eventually, I realized I had acted wrongly. In my embarrassment towards Dario, I buried my face back into my knees, still sobbing.
I continued to cry. It felt like I might run out of tears, and my body might run out of water from crying, but what could I do? Right now, all I had was this crying to help me.
