The two men locked eyes and didn’t say a word. I was the one feeling anxious about whatever was going on in their heads. It felt like they were having a conversation with their eyes, and only they understood each other.
Rory was tall, but Gio was even taller. Rory had a well-built physique, but Gio wasn’t far behind. In fact, I could still feel the muscles in his arms as I held onto him.
Rory averted his gaze first. He managed a restrained smile at me.
“Is that so? In that case, I won’t bother you two anymore. I’ll leave now, Millie.” He shot one last look at Gio before turning his back on us and leaving for good.
I could only breathe a sigh of relief when Rory left, making sure he was out of Gio’s reach.
“Where shall we eat?” I asked, trying to redirect his attention from what had just happened.
Gio simply looked at me but remained silent. My lips quivered because of his demeanor.
Gio remained unresponsive. He walked away, allowing me to trail behind him. He signaled to Dario, who quickly understood his intentions.
He took me to the site’s parking lot. I immediately spotted his car as it was the only supercar in the vicinity-a luxury vehicle you rarely see on the road. Gio opened the door for me and gestured for me to take the passenger seat. He still showed no emotion, and his eyes remained cold. He closed the door and made a U-turn to head in the opposite direction. Once he was seated, he started the car.
I didn’t know where the two of us would be dining, but I didn’t want Gio to stay silent. I preferred him to be vocal about his jealousy, to truly express his feelings. In moments like this, he seemed more intimidating.
“Gio.”
I didn’t get to call him as he grabbed his phone and made a call.
“Heidi.”
His voice was incredibly cold when he called his secretary’s name. If it was already cold inside his car, it became even colder due to his voice. I even hugged myself. Not that I was overreacting, but I shivered at the extreme cold in his tone.
“My schedule for the rest of the day,” he instructed. He fell silent for a moment as he listened to Heidi regarding his schedule. Once he heard all the necessary information, he spoke again.
“Reschedule the 1 pm meeting tomorrow. Call them to say that I can’t make it today. Taddeo will understand. The rest, I will attend as scheduled.”
He quickly hung up his phone after relaying the message to Heidi.
I just gazed at Gio. I wasn’t sure if I should start a conversation with him or remain silent.
“What’s your schedule for later?” he asked, but his focus remained on the road.
I sighed because he didn’t want to look at me. My heart sank as I felt like I had done something wrong, even though I hadn’t.
“I’m free until 2:30 pm today. I have a meeting at 3, so I need 30 minutes for preparation,” I replied.
Gio fell silent for a moment, and I noticed the tension in his grip on the steering wheel. His knuckles were showing, making me gulp.
“Good, this won’t take long,” he continued.
I was surprised when he suddenly made a U-turn. Where were we going, and what was going on?
I was left with a whirlwind of questions I wanted to throw at him because of his rapid driving. I could only gape at him due to his speed.
We entered an upscale five-star hotel owned by his family. I glanced around, not sure why we were here. A valet opened the door for me, and I stepped out at the same time Gio did. He handed the valet the keys to his car before approaching me.
He put his arm around my waist in a way that took my breath away. I bit my lip, trying to calm my racing heart. There was something about the way Gio held me now that screamed that I was his and no one could take me away.
Gio and I entered the hotel, where the manager immediately greeted us. They attended to us promptly.
“The usual room, Sir? Presidential Suite?” the woman inquired.
I furrowed my brow and looked at Gio. What did she mean by “the usual room”? Was he here often, and did he bring other women with him? Wait, how could I be sure he wasn’t bringing other women here now that we were married? The thought consumed me, and bitterness lodged in my throat.
“Yes,” Gio replied simply.
A staff member quickly led us to the elevator. We had it to ourselves, and it went straight to the top floor where the Presidential Suites were located. They handed us a key card and opened the room. After taking care of our needs, they left.
I swiftly moved away from Gio once we were alone in the room.
Gio raised an eyebrow and looked at me, clearly puzzled by my behavior.
“So, ‘the usual room,’ huh? You’re here often, aren’t you? Who do you bring to your hotel?” I blurted out what I had been hiding from myself.
Gio sighed and leaned against the wall, listening to my complaints.
“You probably thought the manager wouldn’t slip up, huh? Maybe that woman earlier assumed I was just one of the women you bring to this hotel. Are you cheating on me, Gio? Are you seeing someone else behind my back? Is that it? That’s why you’re quick to get jealous, because you thought I’d cheat on you, right?” I couldn’t continue my tirade when he suddenly approached me and silenced me with a kiss. The impact was so strong that I staggered back and fell onto the large bed.
I kept complaining during the kiss, even though I wasn’t finished with my rant! He couldn’t just use a kiss to distract me because I’d forget my anger soon enough.
I pushed Gio away with all my strength, even though I was on the brink of drowning in his kiss again.
“Wait, don’t kiss me! I don’t want to kiss your lips when you’re kissing some b***h behind my back, Gio!”
I thought it would be Gio who would be jealous today, but it turned out to be me. I was just starting to entertain the idea that he might be with another woman here, and my blood was already boiling.
“I don’t…” he said, attempting to kiss me again, but I pulled away. My face was still scowling, and I was dead serious about not letting him kiss me until he explained the manager’s words earlier.
