They didn’t speak a word as they watched me, almost like they were letting me vent my frustrations.
Heaving a sigh, I leaned down on the bed and closed my eyes, not knowing what to say anymore. I had already said the words that came to my mind. At that moment, my mind was blank.
“Bunny,” Blue called out in a whisper as I felt him take my right hand. “We know this is overwhelming.”
“Yeah. We are not asking you to accept this major change that fast,” Fred continued as he took my hand in his. “We just have one question for you,” he included his voice a mixture of happiness, uncertainty, and fear.
I snapped my eyes open at that, and stared at him, puzzled by the different emotions his tone was exhibiting.
“What’s wrong?” I sat up on the bed, gazing at him. “What questions do you have to ask?”
He didn’t respond immediately. He cleared his throat first before he did. “Do you love us?”
“Enough to be with us for eternity?” Blue added, peering at me like a kid. “We know we are asking too much from you. You are human and we are not.”
I watched him for a moment, not saying a word, just staring at them. “And if I don’t?” I asked at last. “What will you do if I don’t love you? Force me to stay with you like you did when I found out you weren’t humans?” I demanded.
They shook their heads simultaneously as Blue got up. He turned his back to me, his shoulders rigid, like he was going through some major conflict with himself.
“This time, we will let you go,” he deadpanned, turning to face me. His face was expressionless, Stoic like it was when I first met them.
The reminder of that, transported me to the time when I had just started the contract with them. Back then, I always ached to see them give me emotions that weren’t the bored looks. And now that I had gotten them to tear down the fence around their heart, seeing him return to how he was before, tugged on my heartstrings.
“You will let me go?” I whispered, glaring at him. “Just like that? You will let me go and pretend we never existed?”
“That’s the right thing to do, Bunny,” Fred agreed with his brother. “We have always forced you to be with us. We are selfish men who had you sign an agreement with us just to tell you about us. We wanted you to ourselves, which was why we stalked you and almost killed the man you went on a date with.” He heaved out a breath as he got to his feet. He looked at me, his eyes showing the pain his face was trying so hard to conceal.
Fred can never be like Blue. Unlike his twin, Fred always had a difficult time concealing his genuine emotions. Any time he did that, it only showed how deadly pissed or sad he was.
“Everything we had you do was for our pleasure, and when you left us, we flipped. Not only did we stalk you, but we wanted you to feel the same pain as we did.” He placed both hands on the bed and stared down at me. “We are greedy.”
“Selfish to the point that we would have chained you to our bed for eternity had you not accepted us when you did. We would have done some drastic things to you, things you wouldn’t have appreciated,” Blue completed his statement as he turned to stare at Fred. “But we have decided. Even though it will hurt us, we will let you decide without influencing your thoughts. We will let you go if that’s what you want.”
“But we need you to promise us something.” Fred cleared his throat as he raised his head to look at me, locking his eyes with mine. “We want to be able to meet our child… That’s if you will keep them,” he added, looking down.
I could see how much this was eating away at them. Having possessive men like my lovers tell you how they are willing to let you go made me know how much they were ready to sacrifice. If this wasn’t love, I can’t tell what it is.
Smiling coyly, I peered up at them with a serious look on my face. “What if I don’t want to keep the baby? Will you let me terminate it?”
They didn’t respond. The gritting of their teeth and the dark expression on their faces gave me their response. It took a while before they voice it out.
“Yes, you can. It’s your body,” they responded simultaneously, looking like they wanted to punch a hole in something. They were only keeping themselves from doing that because of me.
“And if I want to go now?” I prompted as I tried to get down from the bed. “Will you let me leave?”
They nodded.
“What if I tell you I don’t need you guys to stalk me? Will you keep away from me and the office? Will you stay away because I asked you to?”
I was playing with fire, I know, and wasn’t intimidated by it. Dating two dashing men had pushed me beyond my limits and into the fire. I was no longer scared of it because I had embraced the dark. One that was scarier than fire.
“We will. Anything you want is what we will do,” Blue deadpanned, looking as serious as hell. “We will do whatever you require.”
“Even if I order you to slit your throat?” One more step closer to the abyss.
“We will,” Fred replied as he raised his claws towards his throat.
Seeing how serious they were made me burst out in laughter. I had to clutch my stomach tightly as I rolled on the bed. This was fucking hilarious. They were acting like babies!
“What’s wrong?” They asked, their tone puzzled. “What’s funny?”
“You.” I sat up on the bed, chuckling as I watched my confused lovers. Who would have thought the feared kings would be this love-struck? Knowing I caused that made me want to howl out in laughter to the entire world, but I quelled it down.
“Us?” They exchanged looks. “What did we do?”
“You guys are silly if you think I will walk out the door, not after making my body crave your touches. You are stuck with me forever.” I stared hard at them before I added, “And don’t think of cheating on me. Should you do that, I will strangle you and that damned girl!”
“Yes, ma!”
Somehow, their response made me resume from where I stopped. This time, they joined me. Our voices carried on through the night, as we, once more returned to how we were meant to be.
