BELLA
“How did you know they injected me?” I demanded, peering up at them with my eyes squinted.
“We…” Blue gulped. “We went to look for Kendera while you were asleep. It was how we found these.” He took two syringes out of his pocket and showed them to me. “We were troubled, so we rushed back home.”
“How are you feeling now?” Fred asked, walking over to me with a worried expression still on his face.
“What are the effects of the things you mentioned? Anything I should know?” I deliberately ignored Fred’s question because that was all they had been asking me since I woke up.
“We…” Blue scratched the back of his hair. “We don’t know about humans. For werewolves, they can be used as both a stimulant or -”
“A stimulant?” I interrupted. “What does that mean?”
“It differs,” Fred responded, tucking some strands of hair behind my right ear. “For the strongest werewolves, it makes them lose track of reality and sends them into a realm of cravings. It could be anything. Blood. Sex. Wine. Murder. But for the young werewolves, it’s as lethal as poison when it’s mixed with blood.”
“This.” Blue raised the second syringe. “This one would have killed any werewolf it got injected with. Instantly. It doesn’t delay.”
“Huh?” I gaped at him. “That bastard!” I growled out, gritting my teeth in anger.
“We are lucky he didn’t use it on you. However, we don’t know what the one he injected you with would do since you are human. It might -”
“What if it stimulated me?” I whispered, peering up at them.
“No, it didn’t. We will have to call Narka over to this place. He needs to check on you, so we will be certain there isn’t any effect of the drug on you,” Blue interrupted before I could speak my mind. It was obvious he knew what I wanted to say.
“But you assured me of it,” I mumbled, feeling betrayed.
“Yeah, we know what we promised you, and we will fulfil all.” Blue walked over to me and sat down. “We just need to make sure you are okay. Narka is a healer in our kingdom. He’s the only one who can tell what the injected serum will do to you.”
“But I’m okay!” I argued. “Do I look sick?”
“No, you don’t.” He caressed my left cheek, smiling like an older brother coaxing his baby sister. “We just want to be on a safe side. He only needs to check on you. It won’t take much of your time. I promise.”
I pouted, not ready to give in to them, but I had to. With the way they were looking at me, it was impossible not to.
“Okay.”
“Great.” Smiling, Fred got up from the bed and walked towards the door. “I will call Norka,” he volunteered, winking as he stepped out of the room.
“I loathe doctors,” I moaned, glaring at the door.
“Who doesn’t?” Blue chuckled as he laced our fingers together and placed a kiss on the back of my palm.
“Do you ever get sick?” I scowled at him. “How do you know you hate doctors if you haven’t been treated by one?”
“I dunno.” He lifted his shoulders in a shrug, smiling when I shot a glare at him. “You don’t like them, so I don’t.” He said it like it was the most reasonable explanation.
The door opened before I could comment on his words, and Fred stepped in, followed by a stranger. Even if they didn’t tell me the man was a werewolf, I would have known he was. Not only were his eyes as sharp as that of a cat, but he was also bloody handsome. I had yet to see an ugly werewolf from their kingdom.
My gaze trailed down the man’s body, from his head, past his ripped chest, to his toes, taking in the gorgeous specimen.
“You don’t want his blood to spill on the carpet now, do you?” Blue whispered, his tone low and blood-chilling.
Gulping, I rubbed my arms as I peered up at the man. He must have heard Blue’s threat because of how pale he looked, almost like a corpse.
Fred didn’t improve matters. He looked just like Blue did as if he were thinking of helping his brother to do the deeps.
“… My… Kings,” the man stuttered, looking at them with his eyes gleaming in fear. “I… I just… I…”
“Check her out.” Fred nudged him towards my bed.
“Okay!” The man scurried over to my side like a fearful cat.
Hearing of how you would be disposed of wasn’t something anyone would take lightly.
“How… How are you feeling?” He stammered, staring down at his feet. “I…”
Seeing the guy so uncomfortable made me feel guilty. Had I not been staring when he walked in, he wouldn’t be looking like this.
“Can you leave the room?” I asked my lovers, who looked like I just kicked them on the balls with my question.
“What????!!!” They screamed at once.
“You heard me right.” I pursed my lips. “Can you leave the room? You can return after he’s done checking.”
“No!” Blue growled. “Why will we leave you alone in the same room with a fucking man?!”
“Does that mean you don’t trust me?”
“No, it’s not that. He’s a man, Bunny. We can’t trust him. What if he forces -”
“I’m only asking you to step out of the room, not leave the house. You can always rush in should he try something funny, which I doubt,” I added.
They didn’t say a word after that as they stared at the poor physician.
“Okay, 10 minutes,” Fred whispered at last, scowling at the healer. “We are only giving you ten minutes.”
“Roger that.” I made an okay sign, happy I had won.
Glaring at him, they stepped out of the room and closed the door gently behind them. The moment we heard the click of the door, the healer exhaled. “Thank the dark,” he muttered, looking grateful. “I thought I was about to meet my maker,” he joked.
“Don’t worry. As long as you don’t step out of the line, they won’t harm you. They are all bark and no bite,” I tried to reassure him, but he didn’t seem like he appreciated that. He seemed to think they might jump in at the slightest provocation.
“Please lie flat on your back and close your eyes. I need to check your organs,” he whispered, his tone returning to normal.
Nodding, I did as he asked, wondering how he would check my organs with nothing. I was curious to learn more about it.
“Different people have unique ways they perceive my powers. Anything you feel, whether or not calming, please don’t open your eyes,” he requested.
“Okay.” I shut my eyes as I asked.
Just like he said, I felt a calming feeling. It started from the tip of my fingers and extended over my entire body, only for it to pause.
“Can you stop breathing just for a second?” He asked, stunning me with the request.
“Why?” I peeked an eye open, frowning.
“I think I’m hearing two heartbeats.”
