BELLA
I stared into his eyes as my heartbeat escalated. It thumped loudly in my chest as I looked into his blue eyes, which seemed like a bottomless void. It was as if I were staring into the abyss, as it tried to suck my soul. Heat pooled at the bottom of my stomach. My breath hitched as different thoughts went through my mind.
Even knowing they weren’t humans, I still felt hot and bothered. It could be because of the familiarity between us. My body only remembered their touch and nothing more.
“Do you realize what you are giving in to, Bunny?” Blue whispered, as if scared of breaking the connection between us.
I gulped before I nodded, taking my time to respond.
“Are you certain about that?” He reached over to me and rubbed his thumb on my lower lip. “Do you know what you are consenting to? Do you realize what we are going to do to you?”
His voice was low. A deep rumble in his chest. Hot and so damned fucking sexy.
“… Yes,” I muttered as my heartbeat picked up from where it stopped.
At my reply, his lips pulled up in a broad grin, showing off his fangs, something I had always thought little about.
It should have feared me, but it didn’t. At the back of my mind, I could still recall his promise not to hurt me.
“That’s my bunny.” He placed a kiss on my cheeks before he got away from the bed.
I watched him, unable to say a word, as I waited patiently for what was to come. There was more to come, right? Right?
I squinted, watching him like a kid, eager to get the attention of an adult.
“Don’t you think you have something to say to her?”
His question brought me out of the lustful land I dived into. I blinked when I realized he was speaking to Fred.
“Yeah. But she also has something to tell me,” Fred grumbled as he turned to look at me.
“So?” Blue lifted his eyebrows. His expression was neutral. It gave nothing away. But his tone was another story.
“I’m sorry.” Fred sat on the bed, looking at me like a mischievous child who was afraid of getting a spanking. “I apologize for yelling at you. I shouldn’t have done that,” he added.
I blinked, trying to understand what was going on. I knew he yelled at me, but that wasn’t without reason. Had I been the one who got called a monster, I would have reacted the same way, or even worse than that.
“Bunny?”
At his call, I focused on him once more. Knowing he was waiting for me to say something, I cleared my throat before I got up. I knelt on the bed and reached out to him. His gaze followed my hand, and I touched his chin, forcing his eyes up to mine.
“I understand why you said those words. I hurt you.”
“Does that mean you have forgiven me?” His eyes sparkled. Gleaming and beautiful. There was a hint of golden in the blue.
“I guess so.” I lifted my shoulders in a shrug as I sat back on the bed.
“And you don’t fear us?” He looked eager to know the answer to that question.
“I…” I inhaled and puffed out air through my mouth as I watched him. “I won’t say I don’t fear you because I still. It will take some getting used to.”
“That means you still think we will eat you?” His voice was low. Though he tried to meow his emotions out, I could still detect it.
“No.” I smiled at that. “I realize you will never hurt me. You gave your words, and I’m counting on that.”
He exchanged looks with Blue before he turned. “I don’t want to scare you, Bunny, but I need you to know what you are agreeing to.”
I blinked at that, wondering what I was consenting to, and why they seemed hellbent on repeating the same question. “Isn’t it going to be like before?” I wondered as I watched him.
“It will be, but much more intense,” Blue whispered behind me as he wrapped his hand around my waist.
I gulped, fighting the fear that tried to tear its ugly head up. “Will you be rougher than you were before?”
There was a long minute of silence before he replied, “Yes. With our beasts, things will change. I understand we shouldn’t have told you about this, not after you accepted us back, but we need you to know what you are up for.”
Rougher?
I mulled over it. Though I loved the sound of that and the thrill it sent through my body, I couldn’t help but feel there was more to it. They looked and sounded like they weren’t joking about it, and I could tell it wasn’t something I should take lightly.
“Will you injure me?” I asked, after pondering about it.
“We can’t say.” Blue’s reply was vague. I couldn’t help but feel there was more to it. What if I ended up in the hospital after having sex with them?
“The more time we spend with you, bunny, the more difficult it is to fight our dark side. We won’t hurt you. But there’s no telling if we will control ourselves.” Fred stared right into my eyes, letting me see the vulnerability of his orbs. He didn’t hide it from me, and just bared it for me to see them all.
“Just like I did this afternoon. I might end up losing the fight to my dark side, Bunny. Which is why we need your consent. Are you willing to stay with us despite our darkness and knowing we aren’t humans?”
I thought about his question. They were giving me an out. Even though they wouldn’t let me leave and would just lock me up for eternity, I knew they wouldn’t touch me without my permission.
Knowing that strengthened my resolve. It was time to embrace the dark and kiss the abyss. I had stared long into the abyss and could feel its gaze on me. All I needed was a leap, and that was what I would take to embrace it all.
“Yes.”
As those words left my lips, I knew I had sealed my future.
