BLUE
I didn’t count on our Bunny seeing my wolf. It was unexpected, but I couldn’t control it, not when the damned beast was eager to get to her. That was the reason he fought me.
Fred and I decided after we returned, not to go near our Bunny. She feared us, and we didn’t want to give her any reason to be afraid anymore, which was why we kept our distance. Having her in the house was more than enough for us, but our wolves were stubborn. The damned beasts wanted to be close to our mate.
Yep. Mate.
We didn’t realize who she was to us until that day when she was in the cage. Before that, Fred and I never cared about the bond. As hybrids, we figured we wouldn’t have any mates. Another thing was the thought of having different mates. We were used to sharing our women, and the thought of separating because of a mate bond didn’t sit well with us.
But when we recognized who our Bunny was, everything started making sense. Our feelings and jealousy were all because of the bond. Though the bond didn’t control our feelings that much, as we had already fallen for her before we realized who she was, it made sense that a human could take us both.
It seemed the goddess, or whoever the fuck, governed over hybrids, knew who she would be, and built her in such a way she wouldn’t break despite all we did to her. Bunny was our fucking mate.
Which was why having her in the house drove us fucking nuts, to the point our beasts tried to fight their way out. We had kept them restrained, knowing it would be disastrous should we let them out. It wouldn’t help us at all.
I was gaining power until Bunny appeared. Her scent drove my beast mad, and he was able to kick me to the back of his mind as he advanced towards her. I could only watch in fear, praying he didn’t harm her. From how feral and carnal his thoughts were, I thought he would pounce on her and rip the clothes she was putting off to get to her.
I was terrified, but couldn’t do anything. In my human form, I was stronger, which was why I could only watch helplessly as he advanced towards a frightened Bella.
Her eyes were wide, and her heartbeat was louder than ever. Beads of sweat bedded on her forehead as he approached, and I thought the worst, only for the untamed beast to change its size, so she wouldn’t fear him.
It was then that he allowed me to merge our consciousness. He knew he would hurt her without me, which was why he let me come forward.
As I laid my head on Bunny’s thighs while she ran her fingers through my body, I had this wish for this to be permanent. I knew it was only a matter of time until she realized what she was doing, which was why I had such thoughts.
I didn’t count on her falling asleep, either. It only took a few minutes for the sleep to kick in, and she lay her head on mine, not realizing she was now in a vulnerable state.
I knew she couldn’t fight the sleep. Otherwise, she wouldn’t have fallen asleep with her head placed on mine.
“Blue?” Fred’s voice filtered into my mind before he materialized in front of me. The moment his eyes landed on our sleeping mate, they widened in disbelief. He blinked.
“How did you end up this way?” His tone was low and cautious, so as not to wake her.
“It just happened.”
I couldn’t speak with my mouth since I was still in my wolf form, so I had to talk through our bond.
“Did you force her?” He still looked sceptical as his gaze moved from our sleeping mate to me.
“Does it seem to be the case? Do you think she’s someone you can force?” I snapped, glaring at him. “Didn’t we agree to let her do as she pleased?”
“Oh, I see. Let me get her to her room,” he whispered.
And that was how we found ourselves in her bed. Instead of leaving like we should, after tucking her in, we cuddled with her in our wolf form. Fred changed into the smaller version of his wolf like I did, so the bed would be enough to house us all.
We watched her for a short while before we dozed off. There was this alluring scent our Bunny had that always made us feel safe. It smelled like home. Heavenly. Like everything we had ever wished for.
…..
A loud shriek woke me up. I blinked as my eyes got accustomed to the light before I looked up at our Bunny, who was peering down with a scared look on her face as she looked from Fred to me.
She gulped, staring at us with an expression of dread on her face.
“Are you going to eat me?” She whispered when she noticed I was staring at her.
Huh?
I tilted my head to the side, wondering if she was okay. How would she believe we wanted to eat her when we hadn’t harmed her at all?
Fred, who was soundly sleeping, woke up, but instead of remaining in his wolf form as I did, he changed to his human form, stunning the hell out of our mate.
“Do you think we would have wasted time if we wanted to eat you?” He snarled in irritation, glaring at her. “You need to stop thinking the worst about us. We kill, I know, but we have never harmed you. Even when Blue lost it, he held back. I can’t comprehend why you still think we will harm you,” he snapped at her as he sat up on the bed.
“Then… Then what do you want?” Her eyes were wide as she looked at us. Funny enough, she didn’t seem as scared as she was when she woke up. Fred’s words seemed to work.
“To be with you,” I replied the moment I changed back to my human form, knowing Fred wouldn’t respond, not with how mad at her, he was. “We want what we had before, and more.” I reached towards her, pausing when she flinched. “We won’t hurt you,” I repeated, hiding how disappointed I felt.
She looked at my suspended hand. “Why do you keep me locked up if you don’t intend to harm me?”
“We just need you here with us. How many fucking times do we have to tell you that?!” Fred snapped.
“Fred!” I called out in warning as I narrowed my eyes at him.
“What?” He turned to glare at me. “We have been through this for a fucking long time. Bella would never accept us, even if we grovelled at her feet. After all, we are nothing but monsters in her eyes.”
His words were laced with sadness. Raw rage took over as he mentioned the word we hated the most, especially when it came from her, “beasts.”
“You don’t really want to hurt me?” Her voice was low and shy.
“No, we don’t.” This time when I reached towards her, she didn’t flinch. She watched my hand as it got nearer to her face before she closed her eyes. “We don’t want to hurt you, Bunny. At least not physically.”
Her eyes snapped open at my words.
I stifled a laugh at her stunned expression. “Come on, I was just joking.” I got up on the bed and placed a kiss on her forehead. “What do you say to this, Bunny? Are you willing to accept us back?”
It took her a long time before she responded, and when she did, it elevated my mood.
“Yes,” she whispered, peering up at me.
