“Who?” I glared at him, wondering what he was talking about. He sounded like he was speaking to himself and not to me. Which was why I asked him that, to be certain he wasn’t speaking to me.
“Your lovers,” he replied, smirking. “They are here for you.”
“Blue and Fred?” I frowned at that. “Impossible,” I whispered when he nodded. “You must be mistaken. They are not here to save me.”
More like to strangle me, so I wouldn’t tell the rest of the world about them.
“Not here to save you?” He smirked. “It’s funny how your mind works, human. The men I knew wouldn’t have returned to their place if you weren’t with me. They came for you,” he said, convinced.
Though I was stunned at his words, I tried to tell myself there was no way they could have come back for me. At least not to save me.
The bang came again. This time I heard a crashing sound on the floor. Even without being told, I was aware of what made the sound. The poor door took the brunt.
A large gust of wind blew towards us, extinguishing the fire in the furnace. It was so strong, it sent me crashing to the floor at the farthest side of the cage.
Panting, I glanced up, shrieking in fear, when I saw a headless body dangling from where he was lifted by Fred, who had him upside down.
Hissing, Fred tossed the body to the ground where the head was, and walked towards my cage, with Blue in tow.
Icy dread enveloped me as my gaze flew to the lifeless body of the man who kept me caged, and my heart thumped in fear.
“Bunny,” Blue called to me, his voice as soft as the caress of a summer breeze on the skin. His eyes had returned to the normal blue colour they had.
Had it not been for what I witnessed before I escaped from their home, I would have thought him human.
“Don’t be afraid,” Fred whispered, smiling at me. Thankfully, his fangs were nowhere to be found.
“We are here to bring you back home,” Blue said, causing my gaze to return to him. “We won’t hurt you.”
Won’t hurt me?
I watched them, unable to utter a sound, not with how scared I was. Gulping, my gaze went to the lifeless body on the floor, wondering how they were able to snap his head off in the few seconds it took me to raise my head.
“He harmed you, bunny. We had to do that to him,” Blue explained.
“Will you… Will you also kill me?” I asked, my voice shaky with fear. I was barely keeping myself from screaming out my lungs as I watched them, calculating their steps, to know when they would come close.
I knew I wouldn’t be able to escape, but that didn’t prevent me from thinking about it.
“Kill you? Why will we do that?” Fred asked, frowning. “We will never hurt you, darling. We are not like him.”
“But you are not human!” I argued, surprising myself at how bold I sounded, compared to how scared I was. My legs were shaking, and I was barely keeping myself up.
“Yes, we are not,” Fred agreed. “We are not humans, but we are not the same as him,” he said again, acting like there were a hell of a lot of differences between them.
“We are Lycans. Well, half Lycans. Though, our Lycan blood is more dominant. We are half Lycan, Half Vampire,” Blue explained.
“Vampires?” I whispered, my eyes almost boggling out of their sockets.
“Yes. Half Vampires. We can turn -”
Blue shot a dark glare at Fred, and that shut him up.
“That’s all you need to know for now, Bunny. Just know we will never hurt you,” Blue repeated after the eye arguments he had with his brother.
“But you are vampires!” I argued, still watching them, to know when they would make a move towards me. I needed to be alert.
“That’s what we are,” Fred agreed. “We are not humans. But that doesn’t mean we will hurt you.”
“Do you consume blood?” I demanded.
It took them a long while to answer that. Sighing, Blue pinched the bridge of his nose. “Yes, we do. We drink blood.”
“And you killed your victims?” I wondered aloud, thinking back to the odd times when I felt like something was pricking my neck whenever Blue kissed me there.
Had they always held back with me? Waiting for the right time to drink my blood? Were they nurturing me until it was time to eat me?
“Not all,” Fred replied, wincing when Blue shot him a dark look. “What? We have to tell her about that. It’s not as if -”
“But you are scaring her! We don’t need that,” Blue argued.
“We still can’t keep things from her. She deserves to know the truth!”
“One that would scare her?”
“So, you killed your victim?” I asked, deciding to break the argument between them. I knew I needed to do that if I wanted to get an answer from them. Else I would end up not getting anything productive.
“Most of them,” Fred replied before Blue could say a word. “The only ones we murdered were those who crossed us. The rest, especially the women, we …. Well, we didn’t kill them,” he rushed to say, not completing his earliest statement.
I didn’t need him to do that, though. I understood what he was trying to say without having him spell it out.
At the thoughts of the other women they had been with before they met me, jealousy clung to my skin like glue. I forgot I was supposed to fear them, and could only think of how to stalk those women out.
“Bunny?” Blue called out to me when I didn’t comment on Fred’s words. “Are you okay? Do you want us to take you out of the cage? I promise we won’t touch you. We just -”
“What will you do with me after I leave this place?” I questioned, folding my arms.
“We will take you home,” they replied at once.
