I screamed as I ran, returning to the room I exited. I slammed the door shut behind me and locked it before I made for the window. It was the only room I had been to in their house, with the window not barred. I guess they either forgot to do it or just left it, so I wouldn’t feel like a caged bird.
I shivered in fear as I glanced behind me.
“Bunny?” Blue called out, his voice as calm as ever, not the dark growl I heard a few seconds ago.
I yelped in fear when I heard a knock on the door. My heart practically flew out of my chest as I opened the window. I glanced down and almost changed my mind when I noticed how far the ground looked from here.
I turned to look at the door as the knocks became insistent. I knew it would only be a matter of time before they broke the door down. And that right there was something I wasn’t hoping for, not with what I saw. I was scared out of my wits and knew I had to be as far from them as I could.
Someone who could easily snap the neck of someone who pissed them off wouldn’t think twice about hurting me. Even if they hadn’t done that yet, there was no guarantee they wouldn’t do it now that I had discovered their secret.
I gulped as my gaze returned to the window. “I have to do this,” I whispered, placing my palm over my heart.
With a brief prayer to God, hoping he would hear me, I climbed on the windowsill and looked down, gulping before I jumped.
“Fuck!” I hissed in pain, cradling my right leg. I didn’t gauge the jump that well, which was why I landed on my right foot instead of both.
Groaning, I glanced up at the window I had just jumped from before I leapt into action. Limping, I hastened towards my car. I would have left it behind had it not been for how easy it would be for them to catch up with me.
I got to the car faster than I thought possible, at least with my sprained foot. The minute I closed the door behind me, I started the car. Luckily, the gate opened on its own. Else, that would have been an entirely different matter.
“Bella!” I heard Fred shout the moment I drove out of their compound.
Oops. They seemed to have realized I wasn’t in the room like they thought. I hit the pedal hard and raced down the street, not mindful of where I was going. At that moment, I wanted to be as far from them as I could, knowing it wouldn’t be fun should they get to me.
I drove like I was mad, not caring where I was going. All I knew was I had to leave. Escape was the only thing I had in mind.
In my craziness, it took me a minute to realize someone was standing in the middle of the road. As much as I would have loved to knock the person out of the road and continue, I couldn’t do that, not when I realized the person was crouching, probably from pain.
“Fuck!” I screamed as I hit the brake hard, hitting my head on the steering wheel from the force. “Shit!” I groaned, rubbing my forehead as I raised my head, only to scream when the door of my cat got ripped off by a man who looked more beast than human.
He looked like a man with a wolf’s head. I blinked, trying to know if he had put that on because there was no way in hell a human would have a –
“Bella?” He growled, looking down at me with golden eyes.
But that wasn’t what caught my attention. It was his growl, his fangs, and the bloody-as-hell sharp claws that looked like they could rip my body in two without a dissecting instrument.
“Fuck me,” I muttered before I slumped in the car seat.
…..
The next time I woke up, I wasn’t in my car, with the strange beast of a man towering over me. “Thank God that was a dream,” I sighed, wondering why I had such an odd dream, especially the one with my lovers. “Guess I was too tired,” I whispered as I tried sitting up, and that was when I noticed they chained me to the bed.
“What the freaking fuck?” I gaped at the chains, wondering how I got to be in such a position. I knew my lovers did not do it because of how tight the chain was. At least, they wouldn’t have had one around my waist to keep me down.
I tried not to panic because that would only make things worse. “Was my dream real?” I wondered aloud as I glanced around the strange, unfamiliar room.
It was empty, save for the bed I was lying on, and a reading table that looked so out of place because of the strange objects stacked on it.
Gulping, I tried to tell myself this was all in my imagination, or I was dreaming. “Yes, that’s it. There’s no way this could be happening. I’m still at home, sleeping. Yes.” I closed my eyes, telling myself it would be over by the time I opened my eyes, but that didn’t happen.
Nothing changed. The room was still the way it was when I opened my eyes.
Biting my lower lip, I took a deep breath as my mind played back everything that happened. From the moment I noticed my lovers weren’t…
Yes, they weren’t humans. I should have known there was something wrong with them. And let’s not forget how deadly handsome they were.
For two months, I spent my life fucking two men I didn’t know weren’t humans.
“Fuck, Bella. After this, you will need more than rehabilitation. Ten shacks might not help my case.”
That was if I survived this. At the moment, I couldn’t think of the fate that awaited me, not after I met that man on the roadside. If he was the one who took me, I would wager on my next salary that I wouldn’t get out of this unscathed.
