A surprise

Ken froze when I stepped into the office, his eyes widening in fear. I watched in bewilderment as he hurried out of the office before I could even say ‘hi’, looking like the entire demons in hell were after him. It was a bit puzzling, but I didn’t dwell on that. I had more important things to think of at the moment, and he wasn’t part of that.
I know I promised the director that I would get the brothers to come for an interview in the establishment, but there was no telling if they would show up. With them, one can never be too certain, especially Blue.
“If it’s not the bitch, Bella,” Imelda mocked as she strode into the office.
Chris went to get something from her office, so she wasn’t with me at the moment.
“Who’s the bitch?” I demanded, folding my arms as I gave her a once-over. She had grown her hair out of the pixie cut she had it in as if she knew just how funny she looked in the haircut.
Dressed in a custom-made grey suit which she paired off with black suede heels, she looked professional, but that was until she opened her mouth to spew all the rubbish in it.
“Last I checked, you were the bitch with a capital B,” I countered, smiling.
“Do you think you have won because you managed to get an audio interview from the brothers? What’s to say you didn’t con all those?”
“Since you know how to forge things, why don’t you do that and keep your position instead of walking around and pulling your weights over minor things?” I retorted, not ready to let her have the last words.
Her face contorted into an ugly frown at my words, and she seethed in anger, striding close to me only to be interrupted by her phone ringing. Glaring at me, she turned and stormed out of the office, looking like a cartoon character. The only thing missing was smoke coming out of her ears.
Sighing, I returned to my chair to think of my current predicament. A week was what I asked for, but it seemed like I needed more than a week to get them to follow me to work.

The rest of the day went by in a blur. I couldn’t even concentrate because my mind wasn’t in the office. As I was still on a special mission – if you can call it that – the director exempted me from working until I completed it all.
After work, I dropped Chris at her house before I headed over to the brothers’ house because I got a call from Blue a few minutes ago asking me to come straight to their house after work.
I wanted to protest, but the thoughts of the task I was given, made me swallow whatever I wanted to say, knowing I had to be obedient if I needed them to agree to the interview.
I was already prepared for what would happen tonight, realizing they would always request sex. It was as if they had no needs for me aside from sex. Despite that, I couldn’t deny the feeling I have for them. It might not be love, but I certainly care for them, more than I thought I was capable of.
I drove into their compound and packed the car, getting out of it. “My back hurts like hell,” I mumbled.
Stretching my muscles, I walked towards their front door, only to be stopped by a call.
“Bunny,” Fred called to me.
I turned at the sound of his voice, frowning when he motioned for me to come to him. He wasn’t standing in front of the door but by the side of the house.
It has been more than a month since I started visiting them, but I had never been to that side of the house before. We always met inside, not outside, which was why I was perplexed when he asked me to join him.
I looked towards the door before I turned, walking ti his side, still trying to understand why he called out to me.
“Why are you out here?” I asked the moment I got to his side.
He smiled, reaching forward to ruffle my hair. “You will see.” Flashing a smile at me, he turned, asking me to follow him, and I did, puzzled.
This part of the building was well taken care of, and the grass was trimmed. I wondered, not for the first time, who tends to the house since the brothers didn’t strike me as one who will get their hands dirty.
“We have a butler,” he replied, prompting me to freeze in my steps.
With widened eyes, I wondered if I had spoken the question out loud, but I doubted that. I clearly said it in my fucking mind!
“Why did you stop?” He turned to face me, frowning when he noticed I was standing at a spot.
“How did you hear my thoughts? I didn’t speak those words out loud, did I?” I peered at him, my eyes narrowed in suspicion.
This wasn’t the first time they replied to my thoughts. Each time, they would claim I either spoke it out loud or my expression gave it away.
He shrugged. “It’s normal for you to think of this. We hardly left the house, but our house is always well-kept. I thought you might want to know who does all the housework. I didn’t know you were thinking of it, though. It’s just a coincidence.”
“Oh.” Blinking, I let it slide. It was believable compared to my hunch. There was no way he could have read my thoughts. This is reality, not fantasy.
He drew backwards and took my hand in his, grinning when I raised an eyebrow at his action.
“Blue is waiting,” he replied as he led me to the back of the house where Blue was.
Dressed in the same Hawaiian shirt and black slacks as Fred, Blue stood next to a dining table.
I stood in shock, my gaze going towards him before it wandered to the table. I had to blink, to be certain I wasn’t imagining it.
I couldn’t explain how I felt when Blue gestured for me to step forward. For the first time, I felt hope.
