Before they could answer the question, still pondering the response, there was a knock on the door. Both turned their eyes towards the closed door.
“Young Master, Miss Campell’s clothes are ready,” came the voice of Hazel, the maid.
Tom Fritz knew that Hazel was Jona’s person, and Jona was his grandmother’s person. He looked at the girl in front of him and said softly, “You lie down on the bed first.”
Agnes didn’t ask why. She obediently turned and walked towards the comfortable, soft bed. Tom went to open the door while Agnes lay back under the covers.
As soon as the door opened, Hazel, holding a bag in her hand, couldn’t wait to peek inside. Tom Fritz deliberately stepped aside to let her see clearly. He said gently, “Give me the clothes. Miss Campell slept late last night. She is very tired.”
Hearing this, Hazel felt delighted and smiled at him.
“Okay, Young Master!” She happily handed him the bag.
Tom took the bag and watched as the young maid turned and cheerfully walked towards the stairs, knowing she would report back about this situation. Hearing this would make his grandmother very happy.
Agnes, lying quietly in bed, felt slightly embarrassed but understood the message he was conveying. She calmed herself and soon heard the sound of the door closing. She lay quietly under the covers.
Tom came to the bedside and gently placed the bag on the nightstand.
“Grandmother prepared these clothes for you. I hope you like them.”
He did not look at her.
These clothes were for her to wear during the day and would surely be appropriate.
“Did you thank Grandmother for me?” Agnes pulled up the covers, revealing only her eyes as she blinked at him.
Just about to turn around, Tom looked at her and thought for a moment before saying, “You can go down later and thank Grandmother yourself.”
“…”
Tom added, “I’m going to take a shower. You can change in my dressing room or sleep a little longer.”
Then she watched him walk into the bathroom, and soon she heard the sound of running water.
This puzzled Agnes. He had just taken a shower last night and only lay on the sofa for a few hours. Why shower again so early in the morning? Was it his habit to shower in the morning?
A clean man was indeed very attractive. The more Agnes got to know him, the more she liked him and loved him.
Soon, her phone rang. She reached out to see that it was Ansel calling. She thought for a few seconds before answering, “Hello, Ansel.”
“Bubu, are you up? I’m almost at your house,” Ansel said cheerfully.
“I brought your favorite little cakes! I had to run far to get them since the nearby shop closed!”
“Which house are you at?” Agnes tensed immediately.
“My sister’s or my mom’s?”
“Of course your sister’s! I know you’re not at your mom’s flower shop.”
“Don’t go upstairs!” Agnes quickly sat up, glancing towards the bathroom before covering her phone and whispering urgently, “Ansel, leave now! Don’t go to my sister’s house! I’ll meet you for lunch today; we can talk then.”
She had lied to her sister last night, saying she was at her teacher’s studio where Ansel had been staying recently. If he ran into her sister there, her lie would be exposed.
Initially confused by her words, Ansel became very happy upon hearing they could have lunch together.
“Really? We can have lunch together?”
He had always liked Agnes very much!
But Agnes always treated him as a friend and even deliberately distanced herself from him.
