CHAPTER ONE HUNDRED AND FORTY-THREE.
Jayce’S POV.
“Hello brother.” I greet when my room door creaks open. I flick the lights on and I see Jovan standing at my room door, completely dumbfounded.
He didn’t expect me to be awake when he came in to kill me. He even went as far as trying to convince one of my cooks to slip sleeping pills in my drink or water so I’ll be fast asleep when he comes to murder me.
“You are not supposed to be awake.” His voice is a shaky mess when he talks. Because I know he’ll try to run away, I teleport to the door and yank him away from the doorway before proceeding to lock the door.
“My servants don’t keep secrets from me.” He nutters a curse under his breath, shaking his head.
Reed and I managed to feign nonchalance until today. None of them suspected we knew about their plans
“Reed and the soldiers will take care of Lloyd and Alpha Myles, together with the soldiers and rogues you came with, while we settle our differences right here and now.”
“There are no differences for us to settle! The only thing I’m here to do is kill you!”
“So what’s stopping you? Come and kill me, brother!”
“I am not your brother!” He lunges at me at full speed and I hold him in place before he can get to me and throw a blow. I twist his hand behind his back, he screams, spinning around as I wrap my hand around his neck. I press his head against my chest and graze his ear with my lips.
“Do you have any idea how much I’ve waited for this day to come?” I sneer. He whimpers in my arms but can’t say anything without choking because my head is squeezing his windpipe.
“You can’t kill me!”
“Says whom.”
“Father will strike you dead.”
“Let’s see if that happens.” I release his wrists from my hold and place both hands on his head. Before he can fight back, I twist his neck clockwise and a cracking sound fills the entire room.
That was his neck.
His body goes limp in my arms and I let it fall on the ground.
It was either me or him. It’s rather unfortunate for him that he had to be the weaker one between us. I close his white eyes and exit the bedroom.
Alora and I will have to transfer to another wing in this chamber. I can’t let her stay in the room where I killed my brother.
Step-brother – like he always liked to emphasize.
I go outside and meet Reed sitting beside Lloyd’s lifeless body sprayed on the floor. They seem to have had a bloody fight down here.
“He didn’t want to die.” He flashes me with a smile. I chuckle and join him, my eyes hovering over Lloyd’s lifeless body.
Serves him right.
“It was either them or us.” I tell him. He nods in agreement. I give him a gentle pat on his shoulder and slum by his side on the floor. I even rest my head on his shoulder and he doesn’t shrug me away.
We won.

MONTHS LATER.
The entire hospital is in chaos as I’m being walked into the hospital, with Jayce holding me so I don’t lose my balance.
I’m in labor. A wheelchair was brought for me to sit in so I could be wheeled into the labor room, but I declined. I insisted on walking there by myself.
With each wave of contraction that comes, I feel like someone is ripping my abdominal organs out of my body. There is a dull pain in my back and abdomen, together with pressure in my pelvis.
I have never felt anything of that sort before. My entire body is drenched with sweat and I have my lips pursed to prevent my screams from coming out, but the next wave of contracts hits and I can’t hold back.
I scream at the top of my voice, my eyes dilate and even the nurses who try to tell me how to breathe feel sorry for me. I can’t keep up with the breathing techniques.
Jayce looks like he’ll burst into tears anytime soon.
“The pain is too much. I’m going to die! I want my mummy!”
“You’re not going to die, love. Please stop saying that.”
“Jayce…” I’m panting as I look at him. “Please don’t leave me.”
“I’m right here baby. I’m right here.”
When we finally get to the private delivery ward, Reed and Halle have arrived.
“Do you want me in there with you?” Jayce asks and I instantly nod my head. We are both prepared and taken into the delivery room while the others wait outside.
I spend more than one hour screaming and pushing with Jayce whispering words of encouragement in my ears and finally, we hear our baby’s first cry.
“It’s a boy!” The doctor announces and I break into a wide smile. The crying baby is immediately placed on my chest and both Jayce and I can’t believe their eyes.
“Thank you, baby.” He kisses me passionately. “Thank you very much.”
“He’s the cutest thing ever.” I cry as I kiss the baby. The moment is so wholesome. My heart wants to reach out and touch both my husband’s and my son’s.
The baby is later taken away to be cleaned and am I.
Jayce goes out to share the good news.
Jayce’S POV.
The moment I step out of the ward, everyone looks up at me with expecting eyes. The tension in the outpatient ward can cut Diamond.
“It’s a boy!” I announce and there’s an uproar from everyone in the ward. Everyone hugs and congratulates me and I find myself wiping tears away from my eyes now and then. The emotions of the moment are overwhelming.
This is the best day of my life.
Needless to say, the news spreads throughout the pack like wildfire. All businesses, workshops, and schools are closed that instant and people gather around to celebrate their new heir.
It is a joyful day for the subjects of the Supreme Pack.
After Alora and the baby are cleaned up and taken to another room, we all go in to see them and that leads to another crying session for Alora as they congratulate her. I’m so happy and proud of myself for putting such a big smile on people’s faces.
“So… the name. We want to hear it!” Jayce brings up the name topic. Jayce and exchange warm smiles.
“Tell them.” He urges and I looked at Halle and Reed, smiling.
“His name is Reed Mael Lysander” It so happens that the baby is in Reed’s hands at that moment.
His eyes widen in shock as he looks at the baby and then at his parents.
“Reed?” He chuckles in disbelief. “But.. that’s my name!”
“Yeah. We are naming him after you because we want him to be like you when he grows up. Brave, kind-hearted, sarcastic, smart, and above all, loyal. We want him to be a loyal friend and brother like you when he grows up. We want you to teach him your ways.”
“I’m going to cry.” Reed looks down at the baby in his arms and kisses him. “Hey, buddy. Your parents have named you after me. They’re going to regret it cuz I’m gonna spoil you!” The entire room erupts with laughter.
“Thank you so much. I’m honored to have this very beautiful baby named after me. And yes, I will teach him my ways!”
“Thank you, man.”
A few hours later, Phone and Reed leave, leaving just Alora and I in the ward.
“This is where it begins.” Says Alora as she calmly caresses the baby’s cheeks. I’m sitting by her side on a stool. “Parenthood.”
“I’m excited to embark on this journey with you.”
“Me too.”
“We’ll be amazing parents. That’s one thing for sure.” I kiss the baby and then Alora. “I love you, baby. Both of you. I swear to protect you till my last breath. As long as I’m alive, I’ll never let any harm come your way. You two are my life right now.”
“Same here.” Alora giggles. “You boys mean everything to me. I love you so much, Kai. I love you two so much, it hurts.”
Calmly, carefully, I get on the bed and take my family in my arms.
We’ve been through thick and thin to get where they were and I’m not going to let anything get between us.
At the end of it all, I won.
The war. My woman. My family.
I hope wherever my father is, he’s proud of everything I’ve accomplished.
THE END.
