Reed’s POV.
It’s been a few days since my death and resurrection happened. The entire pack is still shaken by the fact that I’m royalty. The elders of the pack have even called a meeting to ask me if I wanted to step down as Omega and take up the Alpha title, but I refused.
I like being Omega. I like helping my brother rule this great pack. I’m never going to step down from this position.
My wrist watch beeps and I lift my left hand to read the time on the watch.
One am.
It’s time.
I’m already dressed up in my all black outfit. I head to one of the drawers where I pull out a black face cap and wear it over my head. I go into my bedroom and pick up my car keys from the nightstand. I look at the bed and shake my head. I had to tell a lie to Halle so she won’t have to spend the night here and see me go out this late at night.
What I’m going out to do is very daring.
Even dangerous, but I have to do it.
Once I’m out of the building, I head to my parking lot and pull out my Ferrari.
I’m going to pay Lloyd a late night visit.
The drive to his house is about twenty minutes. I park in front of his gate and walk into the premises. The guards standing around simply bow as they see me and one even shows me the way to the main door.
They have no idea I’ve been here before. I know my way around this compound like it’s my house and even Lloyd doesn’t know that. In the house, I head straight to the staircase that leads to Lloyd’s bedroom.
I can’t wait to see the horrified look on his face when he snaps his eyes open and sees me perched on the edge of his bed with a dagger in my hand. He’s going to piss his pants.
When I arrive at his room door, I don’t hesitate to open it and walk into his bedroom. As expected, he feels my presence and wakes up from his slumber, but before he can open his eyes, I’m on the bed, by his side.
“Holy fuck, Reed!” He jumps in horror and sits upright on the bed, looking at me like I’m a demon. “What the fuck are you doing in my bedroom? How did you get in here?” He asks, looking around, truly frightened. He’s breathing hard in the darkness and when I flick on the switch I see behind the hardboard, I almost laugh out loud when I see that his entire face is dampened with sweat.
I scared the shit out of his pants.
“I scared you, didn’t I?” I unsheathe my dagger. His eyes grow wider.
“Wha…what…what’s that… What’s that for? Why do you have a dagger?” He’s shifting away from me.
“If I were you, I’d stay where I am on this bed. You seem to be forgetting the fact that I’m an Alpha. You can’t outrun me. I will catch you before you take your third step.” That harsh reality settles in his mind and he calmly sits on the bed, but as far from me as possible.
He’s frightened. He keeps flicking his gaze from the dagger in my hand to my face, still breathing heavily.
Oh, so he’s scared of death.
“You know… I didn’t think people who plan to murder others are scared of death themselves.” I tilt my head, giving him a careful look. The guilt in his eyes is evident. He’s probably thinking I’ve come to kill him for what he did to me and he’s right.
“I… I… what..” Now he’s a blubbering mess. Who would have thought? “What do you mean by that?”
“I’m finding it difficult to believe that you are oblivious to what I’m talking about, Lloyd.” I shift closer to him on the bed. He tries to jump down, but I catch him by his left wrist and pull him back to the bed with such ease. He almost faints at the feel of my strength. “Don’t tease my patience.” I warn between my teeth. He lets out a shaky breath, gives me an apologetic look, but he still won’t admit what he did.
It seems he would rather die than admit his crime.
“On my way here, I planned to kill you and make it look suicide.” His eyes grow wide. “Don’t give me that look, you know I can pull that off, but I decided against doing that because I remembered something.” I lean closer to him. “I remembered this is just your first real attempt on my life. The others were orchestrated by Jovan and you just assisted. If it had been Jovan, I would have killed him, but now that it’s you, I’ll give you a second chance, but here’s a warning and I think you should take it rather very seriously. Next time you try to kill me, make sure I die. If I die, make sure I don’t wake up again, because the second I do, I’ll find you and I’ll kill. I don’t care if it’ll be in public.”
“I have no idea what you are talking about, Reed. You are falsely accusing me of things I know nothing about!” He finally speaks out. He’s denying it, as usual. I’m not surprised. I’m enraged.
My head drops and a bitter chuckle escapes my lips.
“You’ll keep denying it, won’t you?” I look up at him with a contorted expression. His right eye narrows.
“I have no idea what…” I wrap my right arm around his neck and point the two edged dagger at his left jaw bone. He struggles in my hold, trying to free himself from my firm grip, but all his attempts are futile.
He’s not strong enough to break out of this hold.
“Listen to me you lying piece of shit! I don’t need you to say yes before I know that you are behind what happened to me. You killed me and if I wasn’t pardoned by the moon goddess, I’d be dead and buried by now. Anyone with a sound mind would advocate for me to kill you for what you did, and I want to. I really want to, but I won’t.”
“Leave. me. alone…” He gasps for air. “I have no idea what… Arghhhhh!” He lets out a loud painful scream as I trail a bloody line with my protruding claw from the edge of his lower jaw, down to his chin. He tries to fight me off with all his might, his body vibrating in my arms, but I’m strong enough to pin him down and keep him still. I look at my bloody work of art on his face and smile in satisfaction.
That’s a wound that’s not going to heal easily because I used my claw and since I’m an Alpha, any injury inflicted by me on other ordinary wolves will take a few days to heal.
“What have you done! How dare you? You will be punished for this! Everyone will know you did this to me.” He laments in tears.
“I’ll be enthralled to hear you spread the news. I hope you also let them know the reason for my action.” I push him away from my body and rise to my feet. He jumps away from the bed, holding his bleeding jaw in his hand and giving me the hardest glare I have ever received in my life.
He hates me. He’ll definitely try to kill me again after this, but I’ll be ready for him.
Smiling, I sheath my dagger and adjust my face cap, staring at his hyperventilating self.
“If I have to pay you this kind of visit again, there will be no room for Ted talk and the last thing you’ll see before you draw in your last breath will be my middle finger. That said, see at work tomorrow.” And with that, I storm out of the bedroom with a victorious smile on my face.
I scared him to bits.
That was the aim.
