Alora’S POV.
“Please make an effort to work with the servants I assigned to you. Do it for me.”
Jayce’s words ring in my mind for the one millionth time that day and I groan in frustration. I want to take a bath and normally, I want to run my own bath, but because of that statement, I feel guilty to do that on my own so I signal the two girls he assigned for me to come over to my bedroom.
They have been here since morning, ready to serve me, but I have completely ignored them.
I got my breakfast myself, cleared my plates myself, prepared my morning bath myself and right now, they must hate me very much, but I don’t care. I’m only calling them over right now because I don’t want to keep disobeying my mate.
I personally prepared lunch for him and I plan on surprising him with it in his office soon. I want to do that with a clear conscience.
The servants soon show up in my bedroom and bow their heads to me.
“You summoned us, Luna Alora.”
Humility.
I hate the word.
The act.
Because most times, it’s fake.
“Yes, I did. I have to take a shower and I need you to help me run my bath and pick me something to wear.” They both look at me with bright smiles on their faces.
They are probably happy that I’m finally requesting their services, but I’m not thrilled about it.
I don’t trust them.
“What kind of bath will you love to have? Warm or cold.”
“Warm. Please.”
“I’ll get to it right away.” She disappears into the bathroom. I turn to the other girl’s shoes still standing in front me, beaming.
“And do you have any specific outfit in mind?”
“Yes. A dress. A simple dress which suits the weather will do.” She calmly nods her head.
She has beautiful dimples!
“Understood.” She disappears into my closet.
I slump on the bed like a lump of flesh, weak, boneless, soulless.
I hate being in this situation.
***********************************************
Anyway, I did not die by allowing them to serve me.
Apart from the fact that the water Tracy prepared was a bit too hot which was immediately rectified everything else has been smooth with them.
They even accompanied me on the ride to Alpha Jayce’s castle, even though I said nothing to them.
Right now, I’m standing in front of Alpha Jayce’s office, with two lunch boxes in my hands and a fat smile on my face.
The guard standing by opens the door and I step into the office.
I have never been here before and I must say I am impressed by how big and organised it is.
All these books!
“Baby?” Jayce’s calls in shock the moment he sees me. My heart soars and plummets at the same time when his face breaks into a wide smile as he rises from his seat and approaches me. The guard closes the door to give us privacy.
“Jayce.” I call, walking towards him and soon, we meet up.
“Baby!” He calls, looking at me with utter surprise. He can’t believe his eyes. My insides are melting with the way he’s looking at me. “What a surprise!”
“I know, right.” I climb on my toes and give him a quick kiss on his lips before heading to the sitting area of the office. “Your office is beautiful and well organised. I love it.” He follows me.
The moment I drop the boxes on the table, he snakes his arms around my waist and pulls me to his body. I giggle playfully and twist my neck when he plants feather kisses on it.
It tickles.
I hate tickles.
“That tickles.” I cry in laughter and spin in his arms. His feathery kisses do not stop. They are all over my face now and in no time, I’m wheezing in laughter.
“Jayce?” I call out loud and he stops, but he doesn’t fail to laugh at me.
“Too sensitive. Too sensitive.” He has the nerve to shake his head. I give him a playful punch on his chest and settle on the couch behind me. He joins me.
“What’s that?” He points to the boxes.
“Lunch!” He beams.
“You brought me lunch?”
“Yes, I brought you lunch.” I scoot closer to the table and open one of the boxes. I can feel his lingering gaze all over my face as I open the lunch box.
My face is heating up. It’s going to turn red any time soon. He has to stop looking at me like that else I’ll spill the contents of this lunch box. I don’t work well under intense supervision.
“He is not supervising you!” My wolf cautions out of nowhere.
“Not now!” I shut her out.
I’m not ready to deal with her right now.
“The aroma of the food is making my mouth water and my stomach rumble!”
“Good thing the food is right here.” I push the little dishes of food In front of him and give him his cutleries. “Dig in.” I urge as I pull over the second lunch box which is mine and begin zipping it open. “Are you going to stop staring at me and eat? I thought you said you were famished.”
“How can I stop staring at you when you do things like this? Lunch, out of nowhere. Baby this is amazing! Thank you so much.”
Now I’m blushing like an idiot.
“Um…” I scratch the back of my head. “It just crossed my mind and I said why not. It’s no big deal.” He plants a gentle kiss on my cheek and mutters a dozen “thank yous” as he eats his meal.
I’m suddenly not even hungry again. Watching him eat his meal with so much love and appreciation makes me full.
This man is the best.
“Do you like it?”
“I love it. It’s amazing! It’s so delicious!”
This is the first time I’m cooking for him. I haven’t done it before because I was scared my cooking wasn’t up to his standards, but seeing him eat my food with so much appetite right now makes me understand I have to cook his meals from now on.
What an honour that is.
“Thank you very much, Baby.” He thanks me yet again.
I swear he’s going to make me cry.
I start eating my food as well, but my eyes keep darting over to him every now and then. His food is already half finished.
Thank you Moon goddess.
“Do you want me to cook your meals myself from now on?”
“Can you do that?” I quickly nod my head.
“Yes I can.”
“I’ll be grateful if you do that.” I kiss him.
I kiss his lips, his cheeks, his forehead, his temples. I kiss him all over his face because he’s making my heart swell with his reactions to my food.
Because he always appreciates the little things I do for him.
The rest of the meal goes on in silence and my mind is already contemplating what I’m going to cook for dinner.
