CHAPTER SEVENTY-EIGHT.

Book:THE SUPREME ALPHA'S HATED LUNA Published:2024-11-20

“There you go.” I help Jayce get on the bed and calmly spread the comforter over his body. It’s eight pm in the evening and we just got discharged from the hospital. All his bruises and broken bones have healed, but he’s still a bit weak. He’ll only fully regain his strength again by tomorrow morning.
He looks fine, but I’m still worried. I tried convincing him to stay the night at the hospital so the doctors could keep a close eye on him, but all my attempts were futile. He blatantly refused to stay a single night at the hospital, so here we are.
“Thank you, baby.”
“For nothing.” I lower myself by his side and my eyes are hovering all over his body, trying to spot any wound or bruise, but there’s none.
His healing abilities are impeccable.
“Do you need anything? Food, water, fruit juice?” He calmly shakes his head.
“No. The dinner we had was enough.”
“Are you sure?” I insist. He nods.
“Yes, I’m sure.”
“Alright then. I’m going to run you a warm bath so you can shower before going to bed.”
“I’m only going to shower if you help me out.” My body tenses as I give him a dangerous side eye. He pouts his lips and fakes a baby face. “My entire body hurts. I can’t lift my arms properly. I need help and you are the only one I want to help me shower.” He keeps whining and my face has gone completely red.
I try to imagine the scenario.
Alpha Kai and I in the bathroom. He’s naked and I am scrubbing his body under the shower with a bathing sponge. My eyes are seeing every part of his body and my hands are touching and feeling every inch of every part as well.
My body heats up.
A funny sensation tickles my sensitive region.
I break a sweat.
Alpha Kai really needs to stop saying things like that.
‘And my rotten mind needs to stop thinking things too far.’
I clear my throat and rise to my feet.
“Stop talking nonsense and prepare to shower.” And then I rush into the bathroom with my face heating up and turning red once again. His horrific chuckle of mockery follows me all the way to the bathroom and taunts my mind the entire time I’m preparing his bath.
I’m going to get back at him.
I swear I will!

Skye’S POV.
“Tania!” I call in excitement the moment I open the door and see Tania standing before me. She has a big smile on her face as she crashes into my arms, engulfing me in a warm sisterly hug.
I have waited all day for her to come over and hug me like this. I’ve had a terrible day!
“Hey baby girl. How are you doing?” She asks, withdrawing from the hug. I close the door behind her and we go over to sit on my bed.
“I’m not doing okay at all. Didn’t you hear what happened to Alpha Jayce? I’m worried sick right now because I don’t know how he’s faring. God, I hope he’s alright.”
“Ah yeah. That. Today, during training, Halle suddenly took Alora home and I think she got orders from the higher ups to do so because they didn’t want news about what happened to Alpha Jayce to reach her. Tss… they all treat her like an egg and it irks me to the core.”
“Now that you just told me what they did, I’m even more upset. They are always protecting her and it’s so annoying.”
“Perks of being a Luna.”
“You mean an undeserving Luna?” I furiously correct her. She calmly chuckles and nods her head in agreement.
“Yeah. That. An undeserving Luna.” I rise from the bed and start pacing about nervously. “But not to worry. Alpha Jayce is doing alright.”
“How are you so sure of that?”
“Haven’t you watched the news or at least gone online?” She asks in a bored tune and I calmly shake my head.
Ever since I heard the news about the ambush, I’ve been locked up in my bedroom, bawling my eyes out and praying to the Moon goddess to keep Alpha Jayce alive for me.
“So, it happened that many pack subjects went over to the hospital to ask about Alpha Jayce’s condition and Omega Reed addressed them. He told them Alpha Jayce was out of danger and responding to treatment, so yeah, the love of your life is still alive, so stop worrying and relax.”
“That makes me feel a bit better. I’m still worried because I know what happened was a planned act.” She looks at me with creased brows and I nod my head. “It couldn’t have been a normal coincidence. An army of five hundred rogues attacked him in the woods. It was definitely a planned act. Someone made a deal with the Rogue king to send an army of rogues to have Alpha Kai killed in the woods when he went for his normal inspections.” I firmly decipher and Tania nods her head in agreement.
“You are right. Someone orchestrated an assassination attempt on the Alpha. The question now is, who had the balls to plan such a thing? That’s treason!”
“Exactly and it had better not be who I think it is.”
“Who do you have on your list of suspects?”
“Alpha Jovan.” I stare blankly at the wall before me.
The day we spoke about working together, he told me he didn’t plan to kill Alpha Jayce. He said his only plan was to seize the throne from him and that’s why I decided to become his ally.
I don’t know what I’m going to do if I find out that he had a hand in this.
“Alpha Jovan?” She asks, aghast and I calmly nod my head.
“That’s my guess, but I’m going to ask him first. His response will make me understand if he was involved in it or not.”
“What will you do if you find out he actually wants to kill Alpha Jayce?” She asks. I look at her and exhale sharply.
My mind is as blank as a white A4 sheet.
“I honestly have no idea what I’m going to do, Tania. But I guess I’ll cross that bridge when I get there.”
“Great. I think that’s enough bad news and lamenting for one day, how about I share some good news with you?”
“I’d be delighted. I could really use some good news right now.” I take my spot once more by her side. My eyes are trained on her face and she suddenly looks so cheerful. She’s smiling from molar to molar and it’s creepy.
“What?” I ask, smiling as well. I even giggle.
“Guess.”
“You, I’m horrible at taking guesses. Just tell me already!” I bounce impatiently on my seat, pouting.
“I approached Halle today and told her how I felt about Alora and you have no idea how happy she was. Never in my history of bad mouthing have I ever bad mouthed someone the way I did today with Alora. I felt anew after my conversation with Halle.”
“Let me tell you something.”
Dramatic silence.
“I am so jealous of you. You got to do something I’ve been dying to do!”
“Don’t worry, when I get closer with Halle, I’ll introduce you to her and the three of us can have a sleepover and talk shit about Alora all night.” We both burst into laughter.
I laugh so hard, tears burn in my eyes and I’m wheezing.
I can’t wait for that day to come!
