CHAPTER SIXTY-NINE.

Jovan’S POV.
“Jovan, what do you mean you got the Beta on our team?” Mum asks, agitated and I sigh for the one thousandth time today. I just told her about my alliance with Lloyd and she doesn’t seem to be having it. “He is the Beta. He can never be swayed. You are putting us in danger!” She scolds at the top of her voice and I’m frustrated right now.
“Mum, mum, please. Calm down. You need to calm down. I know what I’m doing.”
“You know what you are doing? If you did, you wouldn’t be inviting the enemy into our territory. This is preposterous!”
“Mummy. Mummy.” I go over to her and hold her face in my hands, urging her to look at me. “Mummy, look at me. Please.” I beg and she stays still. “I didn’t just wake up one day and speak to him about it. I have done my research. I have made my findings. I have observed him and before approaching him, I knew what was in his heart. Mum, you would agree with me that not everyone serving a master likes the master. That’s why coups exist. That’s why you hear of people dethroning Alphas like we are planning to do. Lloyd hates Jayce and he is willing to work with us to bring him down. He isn’t bluffing mama.” I explain with all my might and she finally calms down. She gives me an unsure look.
“Get your bloody hands away from my cheeks.” She lashes out and I laugh hard and drop my hands from her face. She’s still giving me her creepy unsure look, but I’m not bothered by it because my words have already bought her over.
She always trusts my choices and decisions
“Are you sure about what you are saying? Because we have to be certain that he is on our side. You do not want to know the terrible things that would happen to us if that guy turns out to be a snitch. We’ll be done for.”
“I know that. I’ve thought of them all. I’ve weighed my options and like I said, I have monitored Lloyd. He is not on Jayce’s side, that’s why I suggested he get on ours and he accepted.” She breathes heavily.
“I mean, I’m still not comfortable with it, but if you say he’s clean, then, okay. I’ll trust him.”
“Trust me mum, you can trust him. He is one hundred percent on our side.”
“Alright then.” She shrugs her shoulders and adjusts herself on the chair she is seated on. “If you say so.”
“I say so. He’ll be here any time from now for a meeting I called. Since our previous plan backfired, we have to set a new plan in motion and for this new plan, I want the attack to be on Jayce. That’s why we need Lloyd.”
“Why do you want the attack to be on Jayce? Isn’t that more risky?” She asks, frightened and I nod my head.
It is a risky adventure.
I am even afraid of what we are about to do. Jayce is not someone to mess with. After our last encounter where he beat me up to pulp, I don’t ever want to have a fist fight with him ever again, or any kind of fight.
“It is risky.” I concur. “But not impossible. You’ll hear about the plan when Lloyd comes.”
“What about the girls, Skye and Tania? Won’t they be joining us?”
“No, they won’t.”
“Why not?” She asks, curious.
“Mother, Skye and Tania are not aware of the fact that my mission is to kill Jayce. To completely wipe him from the face of this earth. She’s working with me because she thinks I only want to take the throne from him and let him be so she will have a chance with him.”
“Oh… she’s doing this for love?”
“Yes. She is.”
“Silly girl!”
“Exactly. That’s why I can’t let her in on this plan or any plan that involves killing Jayce. She might rat us out to protect him.” Mum nods her head as the meaning of my words sink in her mind.
“Ah… I understand now. You are such a smart boy, Jovan. You are the true Supreme Alpha of this world, not that dumb step-brother of yours.” Mum praises me and I smile hard. I love it when she showers me with praise.
“That’s why I’m doing all I can to take my place and I won’t fail.”
“Of course you won’t!”
“Lloyd will be here soon so we can talk about our next plan.” And just then, a knock sounds on my office door. “Speak of the devil!” I murmur to myself.
Mother signals whoever it is to come in and Lloyd majestically walks in with a serious look on his face.
Jayce, Lloyd and Reed.
These three men have got some level of charisma I do not know they got it from.
When they walk into a room, you do not need to be told before you know they are men of power and high ranking.
I am the son of an Alpha and that makes me a true born Alpha, but I’m intimidated by the presence of a Beta. Just thinking about Reed, the Omega, makes me tremble and for my brother Jayce… I don’t even know what to say, but Jayce terrifies me.
“You are here.” I announce.
“Yes.”
“Have a seat, please.”
Please?
Please?
I am not supposed to say please.
I am his Superior!
If there’s someone who has to beg the other between us, it has to be him begging me. Not the other way round.
Damn these men and their authority.
“Thank you.” He takes the seat and looks at me. “I have…” his eyes flick to his wrist watch and he looks at it for a quick second before looking at me again. “Twenty minutes to be here.”
Great!
Now he’s timing me.
Just great!
I exhale heavily and nod my head because I have no choice but to comply with him.
“Great.” I purse my lips and run my palms together as I take the seat opposite his. Mum’s eyes are trained on him. She’s him a very suspicious glare, but he doesn’t even notice because his eyes are on me.
Bro.
Look away
You are scaring me!
“Alright. I called you here so that we can talk about our next attack plan. I’m sure you heard about the incident with Alora at the pool.”
“Oh… that was you?” He asks curtly and I nod my head.
“Yes, it was. But it failed.”
“Oh… okay. So what’s the next plan?”
“The next plan is to attack Alpha Jayce. Now that they know Alora is being targeted, they are going to tighten her security. Everyone’s attention will be on her. They’ll completely forget about Jayce and now is the time for us to strike. To get rid of him” I explain confidently. My heart leaps with joy when Lloyd leans forward and nods his head.
“You are right about that. We’ll attack when they are unsuspecting. That gives us a better chance to actually defeat him because mind you, Alpha Jayce is tough. He won’t go down without a fight.” He warns and I chuckle because I know that.
“He won’t be able to win the fight I’m about to bring his way. I had a meeting with the Rogue King today. He is willing to deploy over two hundred rogue soldiers for us that day. All we need to do is come up with a perfect plan to get Alpha Kai into the woods alone so they can attack him. He might be the Supreme Alpha, but he can’t fight off two hundred rogue soldiers.”
“You over underestimate Alpha Jayce. Make it five hundred or you’ll be in for the shock of your life.”
My mouth drops to the floor.
I pick it up and put it back in place.
“Five hundred?” I ask in horror and he calmly rises to his feet.”
Is he leaving already? Twenty minutes couldn’t have run out so fast.
“Rally five hundred Rogue soldiers. When they are ready, tell me and I’ll deliver Alpha Jayce to you in the woods. Five hundred. Have a nice day.” He enunciates the word five hundred so much that it makes me tremble.
Five hundred?
Is Jayce the fucking god of War?
