Jovan’S POV.
I can already see people picking sides in this war. This is the first time in that low life Omegan is defending Alora against me and he has no idea how much that’s making me hate him. He’s playing with wildfire and he doesn’t even know it. It’s going to consume him before he realises himself.
Once the coronation is over and this war starts, he’ll be the first person I’ll eliminate. He won’t even know what hit him.
I walk over to my wine bar where I pour myself a shot of whiskey and gulp down in one go. The harsh liquid burns down my throat, causing my eyes to shut close. I feel like there are a thousand ants walking in my ears. My entire body has been heated up.
I’m furious and impatient. Everyday that goes by with my brother still seated on that throne drags me closer to my grave.
I need to defeat him soon. I want all that power he has. I want the throne. I need to have it at all costs!
“Jovan.” A voice calls from behind. I don’t need to turn around to know it’s my mum. I slam my hopital on the table and turn to face her.
“Mum. I call calmly as she makes her way towards me. She’s flamboyantly dressed as always and I feel like hugging her right now.
My mother has sacrificed so much for me that I want to give her a much better life. I want her to have more power in this pack. That’s one of the reasons why I want to be the Supreme Alpha so badly.
She got pregnant for my dad before she found her mate and because of me, she had to reject her own mate to come live in the castle as my father’s mistress where she was treated like she never existed to anyone. Growing up, our father tried to make me understand that he loved my brother and I equally, but he was constantly lying. He never loved Jayce and I equally. He loved Jayce way more than he ever loved me. He spent more time with him, trained him more, advised him more and always only took him out for formal meetings. I was always at home, being forced to study.
I knew what the plan was. For me to graduate from college and be in charge of the pack business while Jayce would ascend the throne and rule as Alpha. They wanted me to work for Jayce, but I was never going to let that happen. That’s why after I had my degree, I decided not to be in charge of any family business. Thank God our father died, so there was no one to nag me about it. Jayce ascended the throne and took over the family business and because I’m a member of the family, he has no choice but to fund my luxurious lifestyle.
He works, while I eat. And soon, it’ll be much worse. He won’t have any of the things he’s got now. I’ll make sure to bring him down to nothing.
“You are drinking and that means you are having a rough day. Tell me what happened.”
“That stupid Omega called Reed interrupted me. I wanted to have my way with Alora. He is getting on my nerves.” I explain in fury. Mother calmly shakes her head and walks closer to me.
“Low lives like them are not supposed to be capable of getting you riled up, Jovan. They are insignificant. They mean nothing. You and I know getting rid of those two will be a piece of cake. Right now you have to focus on the main problem and that is no one else but your brother, Jayce. He is the one you should be worried about.” Mum explains and she is right as always.
Jayce is my real problem. I have to start figuring out how to deal with him.
I pour myself more whiskey and take a shot.
“You have to pull yourself together and not lose focus.”
“I’m a focused mum, trust me.” She calmly pats my back and sits on the stool beside me.
“You know that the day of the party is in one day, tight?”
“Please don’t remind me about that, mum. It makes me want to rip out my jugular and die. I can’t believe it’s going to happen and there’s nothing I can do to stop it.”
“It’s true there is nothing you can do to stop it, but there’s definitely something you can do to make it turn into a disaster.” There’s an evil smile plastered on her face as she makes that last statement and I immediately know where she’s driving to.
It’s not something strange.
She is about to fill me in on an interesting plan she has come up with to ruin the party and I’m all ears.
“What plan do you have this time around?” I ask knowingly and she chuckles softly.
“You know me too well.”
“I’m your only son and the only love of your life, I ought to know you. So tell me, what’s the plan?”
“I’m as much as we want to cause chaps, we don’t have to do something that would’ve traced back to us. That could lead to some severe consequences. Jayce is still the Supreme Alpha and his decisions wield a lot of power. We will have to be discreet about it.”
“Understood.”
“We are going to wrap a box of snakes and keep with the gifts she will receive so that when she opens it during the course of the ceremony, it will scare her and maybe bite her. The first attack is not to cause too much trouble. It’s just to make her understand that she has just stepped into a battlefield where if she doesn’t watch her back closely, she will be slain.”
“That sounds like a brilliant plan. It’s not too lanky and it’s not too gruesome. It’s just perfect for the occasion. The first thing to do is instil fear in her heart and the snakes will do that perfectly. Mum, you are a genius!” She smiles and stylishly flips her hair. I can’t help but chuckle and suddenly another brilliant idea pops in my mind. “How about giving Jayce an injury before that day?”
“How are you doing?” We are both Alphas. If I bite him, it’s going to take time to heal. If I give him a serious bite on his leg, it won’t heal by Saturday and he will be limping on the day of the coronation. I just want to cause him a little distress.” Worry grows on my mum’s face.
“That sounds very pleasant, but I’m scared and I don’t think you should do it. You two might be Alphas, but Jayce is way stronger than you are. He’ll be the one to give you bites all over your body if you were to get into a fight with him.”
My pride is bruised.
I can’t believe my mum just openly declared to me that Jayce is stronger than me. He’s so annoying!
“I’m not going to attack him directly, mum. I know what I’m going to do. Trust me.”
“Be careful.” I sigh and drink more whiskey.
I hate it when she does this.
