Olivia’s POV
“This isn’t going to be too tight around my stomach, is it? I want the baby to be comfortable.”
The maids shook their heads and continued to fuss over the dress.
“You look beautiful, Luna Olivia. I am sure the Alpha is going to love it.”
I was nervous as they put the finishing touches on the dress.
“All done.”
They stepped away, and I twirled in the mirror. The dress was beautiful, embroidered with intricate silk moon designs that were trimmed in gold.
“The Alpha also asked me to give this to you as a gift.”
One of the maids stepped forward with a beautiful velvet box in her hands.
I took it from her, and my hands trembled slightly.
I opened the box, and inside it was a beautiful gold necklace with a jeweled pendant.
The maids all squealed in delight, and one of them offered to fasten it around my neck.
I touched it gently as the maid fastened it, and I could feel my heart swelling with love for Andre. It wasn’t difficult to tell that the necklace was very expensive.
“Luna Olivia, this looks wonderful on you. All eyes will be on you today.”
Another maid nudged the first maid playfully.
“Of course, all eyes will be on her. Today is her wedding day.”
I blushed lightly and soon we were called for the procession. I felt butterflies fluttering my stomach but I couldn’t be more ready.
I was led out of my room to the hall beautifully decorated with white draperies and gold ornaments.
I looked ahead and already saw Andre, with his back turned to me, at the altar.
I wanted to run down the aisle into his arms but I kept myself under control and walked with grace. I had tears streaming down my face as I imagined his expression once he saw me.
I was a few centimeters behind him when he finally turned around. His eyes grew wide in shock as he looked at me. Soon, his green eyes softened, and I could see faint tears glistening in them.
“You look beautiful, Olivia.”
He reached out his hand, and I took it gently as he helped me towards the altar.
All the chairs were filled. Pierre was his best man, and Sephora was my bridesmaid.
Pierre was smiling widely with Sephora at his side. Queen Haley had also been invited, and she sat in the first row in her royal dress and crown. She gave me a polite smile, and I returned it with a subtle nod.
None of this would have been possible if not for her kindness.
The priest soon walked up to the altar, and everyone fell silent.
“Now that the bride and groom are here, we may proceed.”
My eyes were glistening with tears as the priest read out the vows. Just a few months ago, none of this seemed possible, but now, it was happening. I was finally getting married to Andre, my mate and my love.
“… Take the Alpha of Silvermoon Pack to be your husband and Alpha for as long as you live?”
I nearly stumbled on the words and giggled shyly.
“Yes, I do.”
“And do you, Andre, Alpha of Silvermoon…”
“I do,” he said, not allowing the priests to finish.
He smiled at me, and I felt happiness explode in my heart.
“Then, in that case, Alpha, you may kiss your bride and Luna.”
Andre pulled me close and covered my lips in a soft kiss. I felt the desire for him burn inside me like a bonfire and I wrapped my arms around his neck and pulled him even closer.
The thunderous applause from the crowd didn’t bother me. This was a perfect moment, and nothing could ruin it.
*****************************************
“Push!”
Alvida and other midwives clamored around me, holding hot towels and bowls of warm water.
“Arrrrrggghhhh!”
I was in so much pain, but I continued to push my child. It hurt so much, like a ring of fire was burning between my legs.
“Keep going, Luna Olivia. I can see the baby’s head. He’s crowning. Just keep pushing along with the contractions.”
“Arrrrrggghhhh!!!”
I pushed as hard as I could, and finally, I felt the baby come out of me.
Alvida caught it, and soon, loud crying filled the air.
“Waaaaaaaahhhh! Waaaaaaaahhhh!”
I felt exhausted and collapsed on the bed. The room was spinning around me, and I was struggling to catch my breath.
I caught a glimpse of Alvida’s face but she looked as stern as ever as she asked for clamps and scissors so that she could cut the umbilical cord.
“Olivia, listen to me. I need you to push again. We need to expel the placenta. Push as soon as you feel the next contraction.”
I was weak and covered in sweat but I gave a nod.
The contraction came again, and I pushed as hard as I could.
“Good, good, good. Okay, just a little more…”
Alvida tugged lightly on the severed umbilical cord that was still picking out of my vagina, and soon the placenta was expelled out of me.
I watched as Alvida took the baby from the other midwives, asked them to leave, and called Andre into the room.
They did, and Andre came barreling through the doors.
“Olivia! Olivia! Are you all right? Are you hurt?! What am I even saying? How is our baby? Please tell me that you’re all right.”
Andre cupped my sweaty face, and though I was exhausted, I told him that I was alright. He sat at my bedside, holding my hands, and we both looked at Alvida.
“I want to hold my baby,” I said weakly.
The expression on Alvida’s face was far from joyful, yet she gave me the child.
“It is a boy,” she said expressionlessly as she placed the child on my chest.
My heart skipped a beat, and the look in her eyes finally made sense to me. If he was a boy, then that meant that…
