Olivia’s POV
The question struck me in the bone. I had never really thought about it.
The people that killed my father were cruel, and they deserved death, but I never really thought that I would be the one to exact that vengeance. Would I even be able to do it? Would I even be able to take another’s life just because he took that of someone else I loved?
“Olivia?”
Andre was still staring at me. This solemnity in his eyes had changed to concern, and he reached out and held my hands tenderly.
“You don’t have to think about it. We will know once we…”
“No, Andre. I should have thought about it before we went on the journey. Now that you’ve mentioned it, I don’t know what I would do, but I’m certain that they will not go free if we find them. They will have to pay for taking my father away from me.”
Andre gave a stiff nod, and we finished up our breakfast in relative silence. Awkwardness hung in the air between us, and I could feel that Andre regretted asking me that question.
However, it was good that he did. I needed to think about what I was going to do once I found those murderers.
We finished breakfast, and I headed into the bathroom for a quick shower. The cold water sprayed over me and awakened all my nerves. I felt light and alive, and I tried to think in the bathroom about what I would do to the murderers. But after fifteen minutes, nothing came to me.
I got out and got dressed while Andre watched me. Now and then, I would catch him looking at me hungrily. His tongue would run over his lip, and he would nibble at his lower lip and wink at me every time our eyes locked.
Having him stare at me filled me with butterflies. My face was a bright red, and my hands became shaky. I struggled to get stressed and fought the urge to call him to help me.
I chuckled in my mind. That was what he wanted. He wanted to have me, but I was going to resist. I loved the tease every now and then.
I finished up, and we went downstairs to meet Jonas’ parents. I noticed the hallway was lined with guards on either side, and they gave a low bow to Andre and me as we passed through. My stomach churned nervously, and I gripped Andre’s hand a little tighter. I felt so nervous. What were Jonas’ parents going to be like? Would they like me? Would they be as nice as Jonas?
We met Pierre downstairs with the rest of the guards.
“Good morning, Alpha, Luna.”
Andre returned the greeting and Jonas ran up to me, grabbed me, and pulled me in a hug.
As he set me down, I stole a glance at Andre’s face and I could see the scowl that stole his expression.
Jonas completely ignored him and turned to me.
“Olivia, I am so glad that you could meet my family. They are waiting outside; we didn’t want to crowd up the hotel.”
We all left together, and when we got outside, we met a young man and lady standing together and smiling pleasantly at us, surrounded by a ton of guards.
The young lady looked a little older than me, and so did the young man beside her. I was in shock. Were these Jonas’ parents? Why did they look so young?
“Are… Are…”
“Olivia, this is one of my sisters, Lilian.”
As soon as Jonas told me who she was, I relaxed, and all the air that had been pent up in my lungs rushed out. It would have been so awkward if she had been his mother.
I stretched my hand out for a handshake, but she gave me a hasty and half-hearted one and turned her attention to Andre, batting her eyelids and making her eyelashes flutter as if she had something wedged in her eye.
“Good morning. You must be the Alpha of the pack that so generously took my brother in. It is very nice to meet you.”
Her voice was light and flirting. Was she blind?! Didn’t she see that I, Andre’s Luna and wife, was standing right in front of her?!
I wanted to say something, but I was nervous. She looked much older than I did. My tongue was tied, and my palms felt sweaty.
Suddenly, someone stepped forward and stood in front of Andre, beside me.
“Sephora?!”
“Good morning, ‘Luna’ Olivia.”
It wasn’t difficult to notice the strain that she had placed on the ‘Luna’ before my name. As soon as she did that, Lilian stopped her flirting and looked at me in shock.
I was still speechless, but thankfully, Sephora picked up the conversation for me.
“Miss Lilian, this is Luna Olivia, Alpha Andre’s wife. In our pack, giving the Luna of the pack the proper respect is customary and mandatory.”
Her voice was harsh and prickly, and her eyes narrowed down on Lilian. I could see her twitching uncomfortably, and she quickly turned to me and gave me a deep bow.
“Forgive me. I did not know that you were his wife. It is a pleasure to meet you, Luna Olivia.”
I huffed triumphantly, and when I looked up at Sephora, she gave me a wink of encouragement but did not move from my side.
Jonas walked up to both of us and chuckled uncomfortably.
“Well, I’m glad that you two have met. Olivia, this is my brother, Charles.”
His brother stepped forward and gave a polite greeting. He smiled, but as soon as he turned away, the smile vanished, and he assumed a more regal look.
I ignored him and turned back to Andre. I could still feel Lilian’s eyes washing all over him and drooling. She was crazy if she thought that she could have him; he was mine.
I got to Andre and kissed him full on the lips in front of everyone. A gesture that even surprised me but I was not afraid to show that I owned him now.
He seemed a little surprised but smirked as soon as I pulled away.
Jonas walked towards us, but Andre stopped him.
“Now that your family is here, how about you ride with them instead? We will follow you.”
Jonas scowled and immediately kicked against the idea.
“No, Andre. I want to ride with…”
“I insist.”
The tone of finality in Andre’s voice made shivers run down my spine. He glared at Jonas and they were locked in a stalemate for a while.
“Fine,” murmured Jonas reluctantly, backing away and heading to his brother’s car.
“Sephora,” Andre started, turning to her. “I would very much like for you to ride with us.”
Sephora gave a deep bow and accepted the offer.
We all got inside the car, and Sephora sat beside Pierre. I wasn’t sure if I imagined it, but Pierre’s face lit up with glee.
The journey commenced, and we drove behind Jonas’ extensive fleet.
After a few minutes, Sephora spoke up.
“Forgive me, Alpha. But I would like to make an observation. I don’t know about you, but I don’t think I’m comfortable with this family. I suggest that for security reasons, we should not accept the offer to stay at their house and probably lodge in a hotel.”
Andre gave a nod of approval and turned to me.
“Olivia, what do you think?”
The question caught me off guard, and I felt my whole body become tight. I didn’t like Jonas’ sister, but that was all. I had nothing against Jonas or his brother.
I looked at Andre, and his eyes seemed to plead with me to accept Sephora’s decision. I gave a soft sigh. I didn’t want Jonas to think that we were avoiding him and his family, but I promised that I was going to put Andre’s feelings first and do what he felt most comfortable doing. And it seemed that he preferred to stay in a hotel alone with me, without Jonas being there.
“I think it’s a good idea,” I finally said with a smile. “We can stay in a hotel and continue our search, and Jonas can join us if he wants to…”
