Andre’s POV
I walked in and saw Olivia hugging Jonas. As soon as the door opened, she jumped and disentangled herself from his embrace.
“Andre!”
She ran over to me and threw her hands around my neck with apparent happiness.
I pulled her close and wrapped one arm possessively around her waist as I glared down at Jonas. I watched him grit his teeth and clench his fist, and I was only encouraged to hold Olivia tighter.
Finally, she let go with me but her eyes were still wide with happiness.
“Andre, can you believe it? Jonas has agreed to still come with us and he has also made preparations as well. He reached out to his family in Elvis Pine, and they found someone who knew Papa when he was alive. They promised to keep looking out for him. I believe we’re going to find it much easier to find information about Papa once we get there, and it’s all thanks to him.”
I tried my best to focus on her and not glower at Jonas, who stood across the room, staring at us with apparent jealousy.
I saw that Olivia’s joy had nearly consumed her and it would be terrible of me to kill it so I decided to play along.
“He did? That’s wonderful!”
My scowl at Jonas turned into a smilea faux smile and I walked briskly towards him, holding Olivia close to me.
I offered my hand to him, and he took the initiative to shake it, but his facial expression remained stone-cold.
“Jonas, I guess I have been wrong about you. Thank you so much for being a beneficial member of us. I know I was harsh on you earlier but I believe that you are a good person. Thank you so much for still choosing to join us to go to Elvis Pine. It might be dangerous, and I am sure that you know the dangers ahead, and you need to know that you risk your life for my Luna, and I mean so much to me.”
Even I couldn’t believe the tone of my voice. To anyone who knew me well, it sounded fake and insincere, but Olivia didn’t care. She was all smiles, beaming at Jonas and me.
“It is my pleasure, Alpha Andre.”
He managed to squeeze out a reply, but his tone was grim and slightly spiteful.
“I would do anything to make sure that Olivia completes her mission. I know that finding her father means a lot to her and I want her to have all the security necessary for her to complete this task.”
In synchrony, we both turned to look at Olivia, who was nearly hopping with glee. I had never seen her eyes look so wide and bright before.
While she was cheering and distracted, I shot a death stare at Jonas. He caught on to it, and just as he was about to shoot one back, Olivia raised her head and looked at the two of us. Her face had been stretched with the big smile.
“I am so happy that you two are getting along so well. You have no idea how much this means to me to have both of you coming with me to Elvis Pine to find my papa. Thank you so much.”
I pulled her close, kissed her forehead, and smiled sweetly.
“You know that I would do anything for you, kitten. I love you so much.”
I kissed Olivia full on the lips and made sure that Jonas watched as she kissed me back hungrily. He had to know by now that he couldn’t have her. She was mine, and she was carrying my child.
When I kissed her, I opened my eyes for a brief second and caught a glimpse of Jonas looking at us uncomfortably.
I couldn’t help but smirk as Olivia kissed me.
Finally, she pulled away, and she was terribly flushed. She turned and realised that Jonas was still there while we were kissing, and her face became even redder.
“I… I am so sorry. I just got… Got caught in the..”
“It’s all right,” said Jonas with a dim smile.
“I guess it’s high time I went. I better start packing for our trip to Elvis Pine.”
I gave him a firm nod, and Olivia and I watched as he left the room.
Olivia was so happy that she didn’t notice him clench his fist angrily as he closed the door behind him.
Now that we were alone, I turned to face her.
“You need to imagine my surprise waking up from sleep and finding out that my beautiful Luna wasn’t by my side.”
I stroked her cheek with my finger, and I relished the shiver of delight that rippled through her body.
“I… I’m sorry. I saw you sleeping and I couldn’t bear to wake you up so I decided to come down here and stand in for you for the day. I was with Pierre and he was helping me get your documents arranged but he left as soon as Jonas came in. I didn’t mean to startle you.”
I turned to look at my desk, and for the first time, I noticed that it was organised. It was an absolute mess when I left earlier to check on Olivia but now, everything was arranged neatly in the in and out trays.
I pulled Olivia close to me and kissed her tenderly on her forehead, slowly migrating to her cheeks and neck.
I pressed her body close to mine and enjoyed her inviting warmth on my skin.
“I can’t believe you did all that for me. I always knew you were the perfect, you know, and the perfect mate. The Moon Goddess has really blessed me by giving me someone like you.”
I pinched her chin and pulled her into another juicy kiss. It was deep and passionate, and I felt her knees buckle beneath her as I ran my tongue along her bottom lip hungrily.
When I pulled away, she was gasping for bread and smiling nervously.
“Andre,” she said shyly and couldn’t get any more out of her mouth.
I smiled and stroked her hair.
“You know, I’m well rested, and I think I can carry on with my work. But you, on the other hand, need some rest. How about you go and lie down and get some sleep for the baby and yourself? Tomorrow is going to be very busy; you need all the rest that you can get.”
She stuck out her lower lip in disapproval, but I insisted she go upstairs to the room and get some sleep.
She gave an adorable huff, and I gave her a quick kiss. Then she stormed cutely out of the study and up the stairs.
I was alone and I called Pierre to my office with the mind link. He appeared almost immediately, and before he spoke, he looked around suspiciously.
“Is he gone?” He finally asked me.
‘He is. But why would you leave him alone with Olivia? You know that I don’t trust him.”
Pierre gave a soft sign and placed his hand on my desk.
“I am sorry, Alpha. But we both know that Olivia might have a teeny soft spot for him and would have asked me to leave regardless. I understand that you hate him, and you have every right to do so.”
I snarled under my breath and clenched my fingers on the table. My claws scratched the beautiful wood, but I was able to retract them again.
“I don’t trust Jonas one bit. I want you to run a background check on him. I want to know everything about him up to the point of when he will take his next breath. Do I make myself clear?”
Pierre gave a nod and left the room.
I wasn’t going to let Jonas take away my woman.
