Olivia’s POV
The bedroom door opened with a creek, and I immediately knew it was.
“Andre?”
I turned around and saw Andre standing near the door.
I broke into a smile and immediately turned to continue what I was doing while I spoke to him.
“I am so glad you are here. I told Pierre to make sure that we have enough supplies. I also made sure to get a medical kit this time in case of any injuries we might sustain. I also didn’t know what to pack, so I just packed for a few days, and I also packed your suitcase. Also, before you found me, Jonas volunteered to let us stay with his parents…”
“…I think that would be a good idea and we don’t really have to stay in a hotel. We need to be as close as we can to pack members of Elvis Pine for us to find anything and I think lodging in a big, fancy hotel would draw too much attention to us. I also think that if we are going to drive, we should take the less expensive cars so that we won’t draw any attention. Andre, are you getting all of this?”
I turned around to see that Andre had not moved from his spot near the door and hadn’t answered a word since I began rambling off.
I stopped what I was doing and finally realised that he looked sad. If anything, his demeanour looked miserable and hesitant.
I stopped packing my suitcase and rushed over to him. I wrapped my arms around him and pulled him close for a hug. I could hear his heart beating slowly, and something about his aura was cold and distant.
“Andre, what’s the matter?”
I looked up at him with soft eyes, urging him to talk to me.”
I was his mate, and he should know that he could tell me anything.
He raised his hand and stroked my hair gently. I could see the hesitance in his expression to tell me what was on his mind.
“Andre?”
I pushed again, looking pleadingly at him to tell me what was bothering him.
He finally gave in, took a deep breath and sighed.
“Olivia, I was just thinking, and I’ve come to the conclusion that we shouldn’t go on this trip just yet…”
I disentangled my arms from around his neck and stepped back in shock and horror.
“What?!”
My heart began to beat rapidly, and my concern slowly morphed into anger and hate.
Andre took a step forward towards me, but I pushed him away and looked at him with narrow eyes full of fury.
“Olivia, just listen to…”
He tried to explain, but I cut him off angrily.
“No! What is the problem, Andre? You said that once I become the Luna, we can go on this trip. I have done everything that you have asked. I have put it off for so long just to please you and now, when we are finally supposed to leave, you back out and tell me no?”
As the words left my mouth, my rage became even more heated. How could Andre do this to me? How could he lie and deceive me? I thought he loved me. I thought we were mates. I thought he always had my best interest at heart.
He made me go through weeks of regular training, and I had to face the woman council just so that I could be his Luna and he would agree to let me go to Elvis Pine, but now, he was saying no!
“Olivia, you have to calm down and listen…”
He tried to place his hand on my shoulder, but I slapped it away angrily.
“No, I will not listen, and I will not calm down! You made a promise, Andre, and you broke it! I did everything for you so that we could go. Why are you holding me back?! Is there something you’re hiding?! Is there a reason that you don’t want me to go to Elvis Pine and keep me trapped in here like your little pet?!”
He looked at me horrified, but I didn’t regret the words I said. If he didn’t want me to go, then at least one of them had to be true.
I sat angrily on the bed. Hot tears were streaming down my face, and all I could think about was how distrustful Andre was.
I should have listened to Jonas when I had the chance. I should have told Andre that I wasn’t going to go home and that I was going to go with Jonas to Elvis Pine to find out about my dad. If I had done that sooner, none of this would have happened, and it wouldn’t have had to come to this. It wouldn’t have had to come to Andre lying to me to my face.
“Olivia,” he started gently, taking a few steps towards me but not daring to sit next to me. “You have to understand. You are in a delicate condition, and we are going to be on a long ride to Elvis Pine. We can’t stop at every hotel on the way every time you feel a fever so that I can make you feel better. And besides, we are going to be travelling with soldiers. If it was just the two of us, maybe I would consent to it. You have to keep in mind that you aren’t well. We need to think of another…”
“You are simply making excuses, Andre!”
I stood up and glared daggers at him. I felt a sinking hole in my heart, knowing that he lied and abused my trust.
“There are ways that we can get around this. You are just covering up the fact that you don’t want me to leave. You want to keep me trapped in here because you feel that you have some entitlement to me. I am not a child, Andre, yet you still treat me like one. You still think that I need someone to babysit me and watch me 24 hours, 7 days a week. I can take care of myself, and I suggest that you stop being an insecure old man who can’t trust his mate.”
I felt something snap inside me, and Andre’s demeanour changed in the second.
He marched towards me, and I could see the fury on his face, but I wasn’t going to back down from him this time.
He tried to touch me, but I fought his hands away.
“Don’t you dare touch me, Andre! Don’t even think of it? I hate you!!”
He grabbed my arms and pinned them to my sides.
“Olivia, stop this nonsense and listen to me!”
I felt an icy chill all over my body. He had never raised his voice at me.
I saw a glint in his eyes, and I felt goosebumps all over my skin.
“Olivia…”
