Olivia’s POV
I woke up early, and I turned over to find that Andre’s side of the bed was empty.
I rubbed my eyes sleepily and sat up. Where did he disappear to this time?
I was just about to step out of bed when I heard a loud knock at the door which made me stumble and trip as my feet were still entangled in the bed sheets.
“Who is it?” I said as I clamoured to my feet and checked to make sure that I was all right.
“Miss Olivia? Are you awake? The alpha has told me to tell you that breakfast will be ready in a few minutes.”
I was slightly confused, but suddenly, the realisation hit me.
I dashed to my phone on the bedside table, grabbed it, and unlocked it with blinding speed. I gasped as I saw the notification on the top bar. Today was the day I was going to be crowned as Luna! How could one night with Andre make me forget it so quickly?
I gasped even louder as soon as I saw the time. It was already 8:30, and the ceremony was by 10:00 a. m. I had barely an hour and thirty minutes to prepare.
I tossed my phone onto the bed and dashed into the bathroom. I couldn’t believe that my mind skipped such an important day.
Andre had convinced the council to name me Luna since, according to the pack’s custom, we were already legally married. According to him, he didn’t want the formality of the naming ceremony to clash with the festivity of our wedding and I thought that it was a good idea.
I had the speediest shower of my life and even dashed out without my towel. Water trailed all over the floor, and just as I was about to head back into the bathroom to grab a towel, the door opened.
“Ahhhhh!”
I ducked behind our large bed for safety and heard a familiar voice chuckle.
“You are terrible at hiding, kitten. I can still see your butt sticking out from the side.”
I stood up angrily and glared at my mate.
“Andre! You should have knocked before entering…”
“Knock before entering our room? I believe my kitten should have locked the door if she knew she was going to walk around naked.”
A smirk curled his lips, and my face flushed in anger and embarrassment. I really should have grabbed the towel.
Andre walked past me, headed to the bathroom, and brought me the towel.
He pretended to give it to me but pulled his hand away and smiled naughtily.
“What are you doing? I’m almost late. I can’t believe you let me sleep in on such an important day.”
He held the towel high above his head, and I was forced to jump to reach it just so that I could dry my wet body. I caught a glimpse of Andre’s eyes stealing a glimpse at my boobs as they bounced with every jump I made.
“This is a lovely morning sight,” he said huskily and pulled me close to him.
“Andre! You are going to get yourself all wet…”
“And who said that I was complaining.”
He silenced me with a kiss and I relaxed in his embrace and was finally able to grab the towel from him stealthily.
I pulled away wrapped the towel around my chest, and smirked at him as I had outsmarted him in his own game.
“You only got it because I let you. I wouldn’t have minded if you kept on jumping for me like that.”
I could detect the seductive timbre in his voice and quickly snapped him out of it. We had fucked four times last night. No wonder I woke up so late.
“You can have me after the ceremony. I need to get dressed.”
He sensed the seriousness in my voice and backed off with a smile on his face.
“Speaking of dresses, I got you something special for the occasion.
He made me close my eyes. I heard rustling sounds, and soon, all was quiet.
“You can open them now.”
I looked at the bed and gasped in shock. I clasped my hands over my mouth. I couldn’t find a word to describe how amazed I was.
“Andre, they are beautiful…”
*****************************************
We stood in the main banquet hall, and all eyes were on me.
I could feel the tension and anticipation in the room, and I could hear everyone’s murmurs individually.
I looked at Andre, and he gave me a wink. I felt my anxiety ebb away slowly. I was going to be just fine.
Suddenly, silence befell the room, and the gaze shifted from me to the head counsellor.
He had a book with him and called me to place my hand on the beautifully decorated leather surface.
“The Goddess, in her infinite mercy and wisdom, has brought you into this pack to serve as our Luna. She creates and guides the destinies of werewolves, and her mercy glows brighter than the moon. Do you, Miss Olivia, accept the responsibility of Luna of this pack? Will you guide and protect this pack and ensure that the members under your care are served well and protected? Will you uphold the Goddess’ decision and allow her life to shine through you?”
I took a deep breath and could almost hear the heartbeats of everyone in the room.
This was it; there was no turning back.
“Yes, I will. I accept the decision of the Goddess and her divine will that has been bestowed upon me. I will lead, guide, and protect his pack with my life and all I ask is the Goddess’ guidance to aid my success.”
I stole a glance at Andre and he was smiling proudly as he watched me make my vow.
“Then, without further ado, I crown you…”
He laid the book down and opened the box on the table, which held the beautiful tiara that Andre had gotten me in the morning. He held it gingerly in his hands.
“… The Luna of this pack.”
He placed it on my head and everyone in the whole room erupted into thunderous applause.
I turned to look at everybody with pride and joy, and I realised that for the first time since Andre declared a relationship public, there were more smiles than scowls across the room.
Slow music began to play, and Andre walked up to me and gave me a deep, courteous bow.
“My dear Luna, may I have this dance?”
I giggled at his chivalry and accepted his offer.
He led me to the dance floor, and we began a slow waltz across the room.
His eyes gazed proudly into mine, and I couldn’t control the blush that spread over my cheeks.
“I am really proud of you, Olivia. You have come a long way, and no woman could make me happier.”
I blushed at his words and gasped as he pulled me close and dipped me.
He didn’t pull me back up again, and I felt like all eyes were on us.
“Andre, I need to tell you something.”
“I’m all ears, my queen.”
The title change made me smile briefly, but I continued to say what I wanted to say.
“Now that I have become the Luna, I want us to hasten our preparations to go to Elvis Pine. I want to find out about my father as soon as possible.”
Andre took a deep breath, spun me around gently, and pulled me close to him again.
“You still want to go even after you realise that he isn’t your real dad?”
I nodded.
“Ever since Nicole spilt the beans, I have been thinking about it. Papa showed me love as a daughter when he was alive. I still want to find out about my real parents, and I think finding out what killed him is the key. We still haven’t been able to plan a trip back to my old pack to check for the blanket that Nicole spoke of.”
“I will send some emissaries there tomorrow, and we can begin to hasten the plans for our departure. I would do anything as long as it makes you happy.”
Andre pulled me into a hug and I rested my head on his gentle beating heart.
“Thank you, Andre. I love you so much.”
He kissed my forehead and gripped me tighter to him.
“I love you more, my queen…”
