Andre’s POV
I paced frantically in front of Olivia’s ward. My heart was pounding in my chest, and my wolf was howling in agony. I felt a part of me had been ripped out. The mate bond was still not repaired. I still couldn’t feel Olivia.
I couldn’t even think straight; every fibre in my body worried about her. Was she dead? Was she alive? What happened to her? Questions bombarded me from all sides, and I didn’t have an answer to any of them.
I had looked at the ward door multiple times, but nothing had happened. Through the frosted glass, I could only see faint outlines of people walking around her carrying different things.
People had walked in and out of the ward, and whenever I tried to ask what was going on, I got the same response: a slow head shake that dampened my spirits.
I was in complete disarray; all I could do was ask Selene to protect my Princess.
It felt like an eternity, and my heart was starting to throb again. Finally, the door creaked open, and a doctor stepped out. Without thinking, I rushed to him and blocked his path.
“Doctor, what is happening? What is wrong with her?”
My muscles were tense, and I felt this intense hatred for the doctor for some reason. If anything happened to Olivia, I was going to make sure that he paid with his life. He wasn’t going to let her life slip away like that.
The doctor calmed me down, and slowly, his lips twisted into a smile. I was stunned. My woman was dying, and he was smiling?! What was so funny? Was he crazy or something? Did he want to lose his job?
“Doctor, what is happening? What is going on in there?”
“Alpha, you need to calm down, everything is…”
I cut him off and grabbed him by the collar. His smile disappeared, and his face went pale with fear.
“No! Everything is not alright or under control. My woman is in there dying, and I want to know what is wrong with her this instant!”
The doctor was trembling, and I realised that I hadn’t given him the opportunity to speak all this time. He had actually wanted to say something to me.
I set him down, and he took a step back and readjusted his tie.
“I understand that you are worried, and you have every right to be.”
Finally, his smile returned as if I wasn’t on the verge of choking him a few minutes ago.
“Congratulations, Alpha Andre. The Luna is pregnant.”
His words threw me into confusion. I felt my consciousness leave my body, and I was now left staring into empty space.
I was blank. Pregnant? Was Olivia pregnant? She was carrying my child, our child. This was…
“… pha? Alpha? Alpha?”
The doctor called me, and I slowly began to pull myself out of my daze. The emotions seemed to bombard me all at once.
“She is pre… pregnant? When? How? I… I…”
I was so stunned that I couldn’t even get the right words out. My Princess was carrying my child, my heir.
The doctor still had a smile on his face, making me wonder if I was the only one reacting differently to the news.
“She is about three weeks pregnant. She is in a stable condition now. She shouldn’t have fainted, but the over-exertion while she was training triggered it. However, she still needs plenty of rest, and we will alert you once she is awake.”
I was still trying to digest the news when I heard footsteps running in my direction. The doctor and I turned around to see Doran and Pierre dashing towards us.
They both skidded to a stop and looked at me anxiously.
“What’s happening? Is she alright? How is the Luna? How’s Olivia?”
I wanted to be the one to tell them the news, but I was tongue-tied. The doctor noticed my shock and proceeded to give the news himself.
“The Luna is perfectly fine. She is three weeks pregnant.”
Like me, Doran and Pierre were in shock, but their surprise soon gave way to smiles and cheers.
Doran gave me a hard pat on the back that smacked me out of my daze for good.
“Wow! This is big news! Congratulations, man!”
“Congratulations, Sir.”
Pierre offered me his hand for a polite handshake and was beaming widely.
Doran seemed to be the happiest person in the building.
“Damn! That was fast. I have been married longer than you have, and we still don’t have a baby on the way. You never told me that you were such a sharpshooter. What are you doing in bed to her that I’m not doing?”
Doran’s voice faded, and I quietly slipped into my world again. All I could think about was Olivia. She was pregnant. I was happy for her, for us, but it felt too soon.
She was already going through so much, and having a baby was going to be a big responsibility for her. Was she ready to bear it? Was I ready to bear it?
No, no, no. What about her mission?
She wanted to go to Elvis Pine and do investigations into her father. Was she going to be able to do it? I wouldn’t even allow her to put herself in a situation that would harm her or the baby.
I was so confused. How was Olivia taking this news? What if she…
“Andre? Andre?”
Doran tapped me on my shoulder, and I was pulled out of my thoughts once more. I looked at him, and he seemed worried.
“Are you alright? You seem to be the only one who isn’t too happy about this. Come on, man! It’s your baby. You should be celebrating.”
I was about to reply, but the ward door opened again, and a lady, a nurse, stepped out.
She turned to me and the doctor.
“Alpha Andre, Dr. Jay, the Luna is awake.”
My body became taunted again, and my blood ran cold.
“Olivia…”
