Andre’s POV
We arrived at the border and saw the carnage that Nicole’s little rescuer had caused.
I glanced at some of the benches, and I could see border patrol officers nursing each other’s injuries and wrapping bandages around mangled cuts and wounds.
Whoever did this and was able to do it single-handedly must have been someone really powerful. It seemed impossible for one man to take on an entire platoon of border security soldiers.
I felt Pierre invade my mind with the telepathic link.
“Forgive my intrusion, Alpha, but this looks very familiar to what Jonas did to me and my men when we ambushed him at the convenience store. He seemed very much able to take on all our men.”
I looked at the carnage again and saw that the description of the injuries that the men received seemed identical to the ones Jonas had inflicted on them the day he tried to resist them at the convenience store.
“That son of a bitch! He did this!” I hissed angrily.
I should have known from the beginning that he was going to be in trouble.
“I don’t think we should jump to conclusions so quickly, Alpha. Remember, Nicole just met Jonas the day we returned to the pack. She seemed quite surprised to see him. I don’t think that there is anything that ties Nicole to Jonas. He has no reason to save her.”
I scoffed.
“Do you really think he has no reason to save her? I feel like I’m sensing a pattern. First, he claims that he saved Olivia without a reason, but now, someone just swooped in and saved Nicole from apprehension. If you ask me, it has that bastard’s fingerprints all over it.”
Pierre took a slight step away; I could tell he could feel the fury radiating from my body. The mere thought of him set my blood to a boiling point. The smug look on his face when he talked about my kitten was one I desperately wanted to wipe off.
“I understand that you hate him, Alpha, and you have every right to do so, but I suggest that we do not allow prejudice to cloud our logic in this investigation.”
I scoffed and turned away from Pierre.
“Run surveillance observation and facial recognition on this place. I want to know all the essentials. I want to know what cars drove up to this place, their plate numbers, and a head count of everyone in the vicinity. I want that bastard found.”
“Yes, Alpha. One more thing,” Pierre added, with a slight jest in his voice. “It came to my notice that Miss Nicole ditched her private vehicles and made off with one of the cars in your expensive fleet.”
I rolled my eyes. I couldn’t care less. All I wanted was for Nicole to be found and questioned, and she could disappear from the face of the earth for all I cared. She meant nothing to me. I only needed her for enquiries.
“Get the plate number of that vehicle and send it to all available units. I want every man that we have on the ground and every man that we are involved in looking for Olivia to be on the lookout for a car that matches the description and plate number. I want Nicole found in two days, max.”
Pierre gave an affirmation and immediately ripped out his phone.
He was about to dial a number, but he stopped short and looked up at me.
“I don’t mean to be rude or intrusive about your private matters, but I believe that you ended things with Miss Nicole and Miss Olivia, which is your priority now. If that is the case, why are you looking for her?”
I could have gotten angry at his question, but this was one of the few times that Pierre spoke up for himself without trembling in my presence, and I respected that.
I took a deep breath and turned to him. He had been with me through a lot, so he deserved to know the truth.
“I received some very delicate information, and if my findings are correct, Nicole isn’t really Olivia’s mother. If this is true, there might be more to Olivia than what meets the eye. Olivia wants to find out about her father, and information like this would be very helpful. We need all we can get if we are going to go to Elvis Pine. I don’t trust Nicole, and I know that she’s hiding something.”
Pierre gave a slow nod, showing that he understood what I was talking about.
“This is a very delicate matter, Alpha. I will try my best to make sure that all available units are hot on Nicole’s trail. She won’t get far.”
I exhaled and gave Pierre a pat of appreciation on the shoulder.
“Thank you. I also want you to manage things here while I go to the mansion.”
Pierre gave a nod, and I entered my car and zoomed off.
My mind was ill at ease. The thought of Nicole being Olivia’s daughter was beginning to eat me up. If it was true, it meant that she had lied to Olivia for most of her childhood. For some reason, it made her trip to Elvis Pine all the more intriguing.
My thoughts drifted to Jonas. That son of a bitch has still not left my pack despite the ultimatum that I had given him.
His presence frayed my nerves. I wanted him gone. If I found out that he was the one behind this border patrol shenanigan, then he would be in deep trouble, and no one, not even Olivia, would stop me from ripping him to shreds.
