Olivia’s POV
I lay on the floor quietly, and my entire body was shaking as I cried hot tears.
My entire world was crumbling around me. I couldn’t take this anymore. I stood up angrily, still with tears in my eyes, and walked to my closet. I opened up my suitcase and began to throw clothes into it.
I was going to run away from here. I couldn’t stand it anymore, I couldn’t stand being watched, and I couldn’t stand staying away from my mate and hurting him each time I told him to go away.
I continued to hurl clothes into my suitcase while crying each time I did so. My heart broke at the thought of leaving my mate forever.
I stopped packing halfway and dropped the clothes that were in my arms on the floor.
I held my head in my hands and looked around me in disbelief.
What was I doing? Was I even thinking straight? There was no way Andre was going to let me run away. If I tried to escape, he would hunt me down, and he would definitely find me.
Images of the first time I tried to escape filled my mind, and I remembered how angry he was and the way he had punished me. That was the first time I felt him angry towards me. He had sworn that if I ever tried to run away, he was going to make me pay for it. He punished me that night, too, a punishment that I would never forget.
At the thought of punishment, a pleasant shiver ran down my spine. I remembered how he fingered me till I was screaming that I wasn’t going to leave him anymore. How much I had creamed onto his fingers and how much I swore that only he made me feel this good.
No, no, no. How could I be thinking such thoughts at such a crucial time as this? I felt annoyed at myself for thinking such nasty thoughts when my whole world was about to collapse and bury me in the rubble. I had to do something and fast.
I sat on my bed and began to think. After a while of my mind being hazy, I whipped out my phone and decided to call Jason.
He didn’t waste any time answering my call, and I put the receiver to my ear.
“Olivia, are you alright? Is everything okay between you and your step…”
“I am fine, Jason,” I said, cutting him off quickly. I did not want him to remind me of what happened between Andre and me in the garden after he left.
“I actually need a favour from you. I need to know if you can help me out.”
“Okay, do you want me to meet you at your place? I can come over right now if you like.”
I was astonished that he was still willing to come and see me even after Andre threatened him and nearly tried to hurt him. I knew that Andre was going to do something to him, and I wouldn’t have been able to avert it if I hadn’t stepped in the way.
“No, that wouldn’t be a good idea, especially right now. Do you think we can meet at your sister’s cafe?”
“Sure, I can meet you there. What time?
I thought for a while and looked at the digital clock on my phone. It was a few minutes past two.
“Meet me there in twenty minutes.”
He affirmed the time, and the line went dead. I looked at the mess I had made in my room with my clothes and put them back into my closet to avoid attracting suspicious attention. It was possible that Andre could walk into my room while I was out, and I would see my suitcase and my half-packed clothes. He would be furious and would obviously keep an eye on me 24/7 if he had even the slightest hint that I was planning to leave him again.
After my room was clean, I took a quick shower, headed downstairs, and left the house through the back door without telling Pierre or any of the maids where I was going. For a split second, I had an image of how disappointed Andre would be if he found that I was going to see Jason.
I got outside and found the path to the school. I had actually forgotten where exactly the cafe was, but I was able to navigate my way there through the GPS on my phone.
When I was about twenty away, I looked around suspiciously, making sure that no one was watching me, and then I hurried towards the cafe. I went inside and saw that Jaxon was already there waiting for me at a table at the room’s far end.
Stepping into the building gave me goosebumps as I remembered finding the first note in this cafe’s bathroom.
He waved at me, and I walked towards him and took a seat beside him.
I looked around again before I finally spoke to him. He looked at me quite concerned and puzzled, but I ignored his expression.
“Thank you for coming on such short notice. And I am really sorry about what my stepdad did to you.”
He smiled and shook his head slowly.
“It’s not a problem. I understand that he’s a little defensive with you. If I had a daughter or stepdaughter as beautiful as you, I wouldn’t let any guy come near her.”
I felt my cheeks sting with a little blush as I remembered Andre’s territoriality when he came to me, but I immediately brought myself back to reality. I had to focus.
When I looked at Jason, he was looking at me sternly and with a serious expression.
“So, why did you call me out here? What is this favour that you need? Are you going to tell me soon why you’ve been acting so strange? I am actually quite worried.”
I leaned in close to him and spoke in an almost inaudible whisper.
“I need your help getting out of here. Now.”
