Olivia’s POV
I sprung to my feet in shock and watched him storm angrily towards us.
Jaxon had jerked in fright, too, and he was looking around, terrified.
“What is going on, Olivia?”
I couldn’t answer him because Andre was now standing in front of us.
He glared at me briefly but soon turned his gaze to Jaxon, who sat on the bench, quite confused about what was going on.
Andrea’s voice was deep and scary, unlike anything I had ever heard. The ferocity in his face scared me, and for a fleeting second, I doubted if this was the same Andre that I had made love to so many times.
“Young man,” he said angrily, with a slight hiss. ” I don’t think I gave you permission to lay your hands on Olivia.”
Jaxon’s eyes opened wide, and he turned to look at me and then turned to look back at Andre, who was nearly boiling in rage.
“I really don’t mean to cause any trouble, Alpha. I didn’t mean any disrespect. I was only trying to help Olivia…”
“Only trying to help Olivia with what?” He barked, nearly yelling and cutting him off.
Jaxon lowered his head, and I could feel the fear in his eyes as he faced his furious Alpha.
I saw Andre trying to take a step towards Jaxon, and I immediately rushed between them and stood in front of Jaxon. Even though my petite frame was not enough to hide him, I knew it was enough to stop.
I saw Andre’s eyes darken, and he looked at me in disbelief, his eyes darkening dangerously, and I could see his breathing was rapidly increasing.
I was scared out of my wits, but I dared not move from the spot I had placed myself.
“Move away, Olivia. I wasn’t talking to you.”
The calmness in his voice did not match the violent expression on his face, yet I still dared to defy him. I wasn’t defying my stepfather or my mate. I was defying the alpha of the pack.
“No. I won’t move. He is my friend, and he came to visit me. If you want to talk to him, you’ll have to go through me.”
His jaw clenched, and I could tell that he was getting even angrier, but he tried his best to keep his anger under control. I kept up my defiance and stared Andre firmly in the eyes.
“He wasn’t touching me. He was only trying to help me remove something that was on my face.”
Andre was furious, but I couldn’t care less. I turned to Jaxon, and he looked at me with worry and fear in his eyes.
“How about we continue this study session another time? In school, perhaps. I think I need to have a private discussion with my stepfather and mother.”
Jaxon looked at me in disbelief and then averted his gaze to Andre’s face. I didn’t look at Andre, but I could feel the heat of his anger fanning against my skin. I could only imagine how contorted his handsome face was in anger and fury.
“Olivia, are you sure about this? I really wouldn’t mind staying and…”
“No. I’ll see you in school. There is nothing to worry about here.”
I could still see the fear in Jaxon’s eyes as he slowly began to pack his books and sling his bag over his shoulder.
Andre’s eyes followed his every movement, and it was a surprise that he chose not to stop him though I overruled his direct order to him.
Jaxon walked up nervously to my side and whispered in my ear, and I saw Andre flinch on the side.
I knew for a fact that the only thing that was keeping him in check was that no one knew about us. He was my stepfather, which meant there was a limit to how he could react.
“Are you absolutely sure that I shouldn’t stay and explain…”
“Jaxon, it is fine. Go home. I’ll see you in school on Monday.”
He said nothing else and walked awkwardly out of the garden, and soon, only Andre and I were left alone.
“What are you doing, Olivia? What is going on? You have been acting strange, avoiding, ignoring, and now, this. Is there something that you need to tell me?”
I closed my eyes and took in a deep, angry breath.
“Last I checked, I don’t think I answer to you. A friend coming over should not be a problem, and I definitely don’t think a friend helping me out with something should be a problem, either. You don’t have the right to speak to me or any of my friends in such a manner.”
I could feel the frosty coldness in my voice, which startled me. Andre’s eyes were still dark, and I could tell he had so much to say, but I wasn’t going to give him the opportunity. I couldn’t bear to talk to him anymore. I couldn’t bear to see how angry I had made him. Every glance at his face filled my heart with sorrow and pain. Because of one person, I was hurting my mate continuously, and I couldn’t even apologise.
I dashed back inside the house and ran to my room, closing the door behind me and locking it shut.
I was about to break down into tears when something caught my eye again. I felt my knees weaken as I saw another piece of colourful paper stuck to my window. It was another note.
Strength suddenly returned to my legs, and I marched forward angrily and snatched the paper from the window.
Who the fuck was this person? Didn’t he or she understand that there was nothing going on between Andre and me? Hadn’t I done enough in the past few days to prove the point? Why was this person still tormenting me, following me and making my life a complete misery? Can this person just stop?
It was the same handwriting and the same kind of message.
“You are moving on quite quickly, Olivia.”
