Olivia’s POV
I was stunned and scared. What was going on? Was someone watching me? I looked around nervously, but it was pitch black in the places in the moon’s shadow.
I couldn’t see if anyone was lurking in the bushes.
I hurried inside and rushed upstairs, scared to look back. Somewhere in my mind, I could hear footsteps hurrying behind me.
I reached the top floor, and without warning, I burst into Andre’s room.
It was quiet; he wasn’t around. I sat on the bed and curled myself into a ball. I would sit there and wait for him till he was back. I didn’t want to go back to my room. I didn’t want to be alone.
I pulled out my phone and looked at the text again. There was no number, and my mind was reading every word repeatedly; each repetition was more sinister than the last.
Did someone want to harm me? What did this person know about me? I tried not to cry and cuddled Andre’s pillow, filling my lungs with his scent.
I hoped he would hurry back soon. I was tired and drained from my transformation, but I dared not close my eyes and sleep for even a second.
It took a while, and soon, there was a knock at the door. It opened slowly, and I heard a deep and soothing voice.
“The Moon Goddess has brought my kitten to me once again. I am glad that she is taking the initiative.”
He came into the room with a smile, but as soon as he saw the fear in my eyes, the smile vanished, and he rushed to my side.
“What is wrong? You look worried. Are you okay?”
I shook my head and spoke to him fearfully.
“There is trouble.”
“Trouble? What trouble?”
I pulled out the phone and handed it to him, and he read the text. He was silent at first, but then he hugged me and kissed my forehead sweetly.
“Hey, it’s going to be okay. You should leave your cell phone with me. I’ll get someone to run a check and see if we can trace the number. You have nothing to worry about. We will get to the bottom of this.”
I burst into tears, and he pulled me even closer and hushed me softly, burying my head in his hard and warm chest.
I sobbed a little, but he wiped my tears away. I looked up at him, and he kissed me softly on my lips, burning his care into my heart. I could count on him.
“You don’t have to worry, Olivia. I know that you are scared, and it’s okay. I understand, but I need you to know that I am always here for you. I will never let any harm come to you. You are mine and mine to protect.”.
“I was scared and…”
“Shhhhhhhh,” he said, hushing me gently. “You have every right to be. Just know I will do everything I can to keep you safe, kitten. It’s a promise.”
I felt soft tears run down my face, wetting his palms. He wiped them off and kissed my tears away.
I felt safe and secure in his arms, but I was still a little worried. Every now and then, my eyes would travel to the door, and I would have them fixed at the little crack beneath. I sometimes saw feet standing in front, but when I blinked, they would disappear.
“Can I sleep here tonight?” I asked him softly.
He nodded immediately, and I sighed in relief.
“Did you wear that for me?”
I blushed lightly and nodded slowly, and he smiled and kissed me tentatively again.
“It’s beautiful on you, and I love it.”
He let go of me briefly and headed to the door. He turned the key in the lock and went to his wardrobe to pick something for me to wear.
“I’ll get you something to put on and run a hot bath. It’s chilly, and the last thing I want is my kitten to catch a terrible cold.”
I smiled softly, and he handed me a shirt and disappeared into the bathroom.
I held the shirt in my arms and pressed it to my nose. His strong, musky scent made me feel a lot better.
He emerged a few minutes late, handed me a towel, and followed me into the bathroom.
He held me tenderly in his arms and his bare body as the warm water splashed on the both of us. When I looked up at him, his green eyes met mine.
We got out of the shower, and I threw his shirt over my head and lay down next to him. The night was chilly, but I felt warm and safe, wrapped in his arms.
My phone was on the dressing table, and as I glanced at it, I could only hope he would find who was texting and watching me.
“You need to get some rest.” Andre started, his palm closing around my cheeks.
“I am here; no one will touch you when I am with you.”
He took my hand and placed it on his chest, and I could feel his beating heart thumping softly and rhythmically.
It felt soothing and melodic, and his skin warmed my palm.
I nestled closer to him, rested my head on his chest, and listened to his heartbeat.
My eyes slowly began to droop, and it didn’t take long for me to fall asleep. I was safe with Andre. I didn’t have to worry about anything.
He was protecting me.
