CHAPTER SIX.
Alora’S POV.
I have absolutely no idea what is going on.
I’m still in shock.
A few hours ago I was at the Blue Pearl Pack, working like a slave, but here I am right now, being attended to by ten servants like I’m a lost, but found Princess. I haven’t said a word to them since we got into this bedroom which happens to be Alpha Jayce’s.
Alpha Jayce’s bedroom.
I am currently in the supreme Alpha’s bedroom.
Someone pinch me so I can wake up from this dream.
Ever since I was a little girl, when I started following Daphne around and catering for her every need, I had always dreamed of having a much more decent life. I dreamed of going to school, pursuing a career in the medical field and living a much more fulfilling life. Every night before I went to bed, I prayed to the Moon goddess. I begged her to help me have a better life, but never did I think she had such big plans for me.
She made me the mate to the Supreme Alpha.
This is wild and I’m scared because it seems too good to be true. Maybe this isn’t real. Maybe I’m caught up in one of my fantasy thoughts and sooner or later, I’ll snap out of it and return to serving Daphne. Maybe Alpha Jayce will walk in through that door, laughing hysterically and tell me this was all a joke and that I should get the hell out of his bedroom.
Maybe this is all a dream!
“We are done.” A calm voice snaps me out of my thoughts and I shake and look around. I’m not in a kitchen, I’m not in Daphne’s bedroom, I’m not in my crampy, dark basement bedroom. I’m in an enormous and neatly organised bedroom that reeks of my mate’s scent.
This is not a dream.
This is real!
My life has changed for the better!
“Do you wanna take a look in the mirror?” One of the girls asks. I look up and notice they are all lined up by my side with polite smiles on their faces, ever ready to serve me. I quietly nod my head and immediately, two of them bring a mirror. It’s a full length mirror and as I rise from the bed, I can see myself from head to toe. I stare at my reflection and I can hardly believe what I’m seeing. I look stunning. I have never looked so pretty before.
I’m dressed in a pink flay gown that rests on my knees. It’s the most beautiful dress I have worn in my life. My wrists and neck are adorned with jewelries and the pair of dotted earrings I have on are blinking. I try to smile, but I feel a lump in my throat instead. I feel like crying, because it’s all so overwhelming. I can’t believe something good is finally happening to me.
“You don’t like how you look?” One of the girls asks and I can sense worry in her tone. “If you don’t we can start all over till you…”
“No. Not at all.” I force a smile to assure them that it’s good. Goodness, I can’t even complain. I look perfect! “It’s perfect. I love it! Thank you all very much. I really appreciate you doing this.”
“It’s our duty to serve you, Luna.” They all bow in unison and I’m taken aback.
Luna.
I’m not even their Luna yet.
I smile and nod my head. Just then, the room door opens and my soul walks out of my body when Alpha Jayce steps into the bedroom. When he sees me, he stops in his tracks and looks at me with wide eyes like I’m the most beautiful thing he has ever set his eyes on. The maids see that as their cue to leave and they all scurry out of the bedroom, leaving just Alpha Jayce and I in it.
“Wow!” He exclaims in amusement. I swallow dryly and play with my fingers. I’m nervous.
My knees are wobbly. My heart is beating at an increasingly rapid pace. My palms are clammed up with sweat and I seem to have forgotten how to breathe.
“You look breathtaking, Alora.” He compliments me as he walks closer to me.
I want to tell him “thank you”, but I can’t find my voice. I pry my lips open to say something, but I close them shut when I notice my mind is blank as well.
“Were they good to you?” I quickly nod my head and he smiles. “Good. You know you can talk to me, right? I won’t eat you up.” His voice is slow, easy and deceptively persuasive. His hand reaches for my cheek and he gently caresses it. My brain is on fire, ready to explode from the impossibility of this moment.
How is this happening?
How am I dressed in a beautiful pink gown, adorned in expensive jewellery and standing in the Supreme Alpha’s bedroom?
How am I his mate?
“How?” I finally whisper and his smile widens. “I… I … still can’t believe this is happening.” My voice breaks in half as I say that. His eyes are two pools of affection. Open, honest and humble.
“I do not have an explanation for that either, but I know this is the will of the Moon goddess. She has finally heard our prayers.” He is still smiling.
For goodness sake he has to stop because if he keeps doing that I’m going to melt on my spot. His smile is too charming. Too hypnotic and it’s escalating my nervousness.
“I’m honoured to have you as my second chance mate.” I finally whisper the words as I dare to meet his gaze. His eyes are sparkling and I try to smile, but fail.
“I’m honoured to have you as my mate too.”
“I’m nobody.”
“You are my mate. That’s all what matters.” He pulls me into his arms and engulfs me in a big bear hug. I don’t hug him back despite the urge to do so. I just stand there like a sack of potatoes, not knowing what to do with myself. I’m still in a trance.
After some time, he pulls back and gives me a critical look.
“Can I have my own bedroom?” The words fly out of my mouth before I can stop myself from saying them. I instantly regret it. He’s probably going to get mad and send me away.
Nice one Alora!
Nice one.
He gives me one more critical look and I try to sniffle my incredulity.
“I’m sorry.” I start to apologise immediately. “I’m sorry I didn’t mean to say that… I just…”
“It’s okay. There’s no need for you to be sorry. However I can’t concur with what you just demanded.” I cannot calm the palpitations crashing my nervousness system. I look up and realise he is very very serious.
“Oh…” is all I manage.
“If staying in the same bedroom with me makes you uncomfortable, I’ll spend the nights in my office. You stay here. It is important that you stay here, in our bedroom.” He says, enunciating the “our” and I almost sprout out a pair of wings. There are hummingbirds in my heart. “Do you understand me?”
I don’t.
I honestly do not understand why it is so important for me to stay in his bedroom, but I do not have the audacity to say no, so I simply nod my head and whisper the word;
“Yes.”
“Good.” He sighs deeply. His eyes are searching. His fingers are caressing me and I’m blinking back tears as they are forming in my eyes. This all seems too good to be true. I will die if this is all a dream. “I’m going to throw you a welcome party.” My head snaps up to look at his face. I no longer care about the fact that my eyes are glassy with tears. “Yes…” he smiles. “The entire world has to know about you. They have to know that you are my mate. I will introduce you to everyone at that party and they will bow to you and serve you anyhow you wish because you are their Supreme Luna.” I sniffle back tears.
Blinking is not enough to keep my tears from streaming down my cheeks.
“The suffering is all over now, Alora.” His calm voice assures me. A painful lump forms in my throat because I’m trying to stop myself from bursting into tears. “You are no longer a servant. That chapter of your life has been closed. This is a new chapter and in this chapter, you are a Queen who is going to be served and loved by her people. In this chapter, you have your mate by your side who is ready to love and cherish you for the rest of your life. Things will only be better from now on. No more suffering, no more serving ungrateful people, no more misery. You are with me now and I will keep you safe.”
Before I know it, I’m soaking up a torrential downpour of tears. I’m choking, I’m crying, I’m shuddering, I’m shaking and splintering into teardrops.
He doesn’t say anything. He simply wraps a protective arm around me and holds me still in his arms.
I die five times in the second when he plants a soft kiss on my head and whispers;
“I love you.”
He says it so quietly, I’m certain I imagined it.
