Olivia’s POV
We soon pulled up in front of the school building, and I could feel myself trembling with fear and nervousness. I was finally here-my first day at a werewolf college.
I hesitated and almost didn’t want to get out of the car. Fear crept in, and I could do nothing to stop it.
“Are you feeling nervous?” Andre asked me as he saw the nervous look on my face.
I was too shy to say anything to him, and he playfully mocked you.
“A few minutes ago, you were beside yourself with glee that you were starting school, and now, my kitten seems to be scared.”
Embarrassed, I felt my cheeks become hot, but Andre hugged me and kissed my forehead gently.
“You are going to do just fine, Olivia.”
I smiled as I felt his warmth wrap around me, comforting me and driving the fear away. After a while, I finally got out of the car and, with a deep breath, began walking to the school.
I could hear Andre zooming off, but I kept my head low while walking.
I felt my heart do nervous flips with each step. I felt so insignificant and small.
As I kept my head lowered, I could hear the other students giggling and whispering to each other.
It felt like everyone knew someone. I was the only weak link in the entire school.
I hurried to the receptionist’s office and found Miss Regina sitting in her chair, typing away on her laptop.
She finally looked up at me and beamed at me pleasantly.
“Olivia, I am glad to see that you made it today.”
“Thank you,” I said politely. “I want to pick up my lecture schedule.”
“Ahh, yes,” she said loudly. “The Dean gave it to me. I have it right here.”
She rummaged through her drawers, and in a few minutes, she produced a piece of paper and handed it to me.
I skimmed through the paper and saw that I had English first. I looked at the clock and gasped. And it was in ten minutes. Oh no!
I didn’t even wait for Miss Regina to talk to me again, and I immediately began dashing down the hallway, looking around desperately for my English class.
I ignored the staring eyes of the other students and continued to look for my class frantically.
I looked at the clock in the hallway and saw that I had about 3 minutes left.
Lecture Hall C? Lecture Hall C? Where was Lecture Hall C?
I finally found it and dashed into the class. I stopped in my tracks at the door, and all eyes turned to look at me.
There was already a teacher in class, and when I turned to look at the wall clock, I realised that I was two minutes late.
This was the worst possible way to start a first day at school.
The teacher stopped what he was doing and turned to me with a sweet smile on his face.
“You must be Olivia. The Dean told me that you would be joining us today. By the looks of it, you are rushing to class. But do not worry; this is only an introductory class. You haven’t missed anything important.”
I smiled nervously and sat on an empty desk before the class. As I set my bag down, I could hear the other students whispering hush tones about me.
I felt a bit embarrassed, but it was nothing rude or unsavoury.
The class continued, and the other students fell silent and listened to the teacher. It was an interesting introductory class, and the rest of the day progressed rather smoothly.
There were no late appearances in class, I answered many questions, and the teachers were quite impressed. So far, no one has said anything bad about me. However, I did notice that no one had approached me either.
I spend most of the day alone. In each class I attended, I sat alone in the corner, and no one cared to even talk to me. Even during lunchtime, I ate all by myself.
I consoled myself and tried not to worry about it. This was my first day, and I wasn’t going to rush anything.
Finally, it was nearing the end of school, and regular school activities were almost over. My anticipation began to grow.
My last class was Lycanthrope Physical Fitness, and I rushed to the locker room to get changed.
I had never had a fitness class with just werewolves before. I was so excited that I got to the class ten minutes early and found the space completely filled with students who were lifting weights, jumping high and testing their flexibility and agility. I felt a little intimidated, so I sat down in a corner and watched. I had never tested my physical strength before. My old pack was barely equipped with shelter. The last thing on their mind was getting us gym materials.
I pulled out a book and began to wait; one by one, more students entered the class.
A female teacher walked in and stood in front of the class. I hurriedly put my book in my bag and joined the others, and we all stood on one side of the class while she stood alone on the other side.
“Welcome to your Physical Fitness Class. There is little to say, and we will jump right into it. Our first lesson will require us to partner up. So, on that note, All of you should pick a partner.”
Just as she finished speaking, everyone began to find their partners-friends paired with friends, boyfriends with their girlfriends and mates with their mates.
At the end of it all, I was alone. No one wanted to pair up with me.
“Oh dear, you don’t have a partner? Well, I think you have to sit this one out. But don’t worry, sit and watch the rest of us; I’m sure you will learn something.”
I felt my heart shatter into a million pieces. This was my first shifting class, the class I had been looking forward to the whole day, and I was missing out on it!
I sulked, sat quietly in the corner, and watched the others with envy.
“Okay, class,” began the teacher. “The first thing that we are going to learn is…”
“Sorry, I’m late!”
The teacher turned, and everyone began to murmur as someone bolted into the room.
