When Natalie saw him like that, she could only follow behind.
“Good! Refreshing! Adrian, pour them another round,” Mr. Sanderson signaled to Adrian, who immediately understood.
Rosalind already felt her head spinning. She didn’t want Natalie, a girl, to get drunk as well, so she quickly said, “Brandon, Lion just called me asking for a document. Go with Natalie to the hotel and send it to him!”
“Miss Ruell, I…”
“Go!” Rosalind gave him a look, indicating he should take Natalie away first.
Brandon had no choice but to comply and nodded, “Alright.”
Rosalind wasn’t ignoring her own safety. She planned for Brandon to come back and pick her up later; for now, she needed to get Natalie out of there. Having just been discharged from the hospital, she couldn’t afford another trip back so soon.
Once they left, Adrian and Mr. Sanderson increased the frequency of pouring drinks for Rosalind. One glass after another was filled as soon as the previous one was emptied.
Rosalind knew she couldn’t drink any more. She waved her hand and stood up unsteadily, “I need to use the restroom.”
“I’ll help you!” Mr. Sanderson offered as he stood up.
“No need, I can manage.” At this point, Rosalind had to muster all her remaining rationality to pretend she wasn’t drunk.
She planned to call Brandon from the restroom. But as soon as she entered, her vision started to blur. Her phone rang at that moment.
Rosalind took it out but couldn’t make out the letters on the screen.
“Hello…”
“Where are you?”
“Hello… I’m drunk…”
After saying those three words, her legs gave way and she collapsed in the restroom.
When Ulric found her in the women’s restroom, she was completely unconscious!
Without hesitation, he strode in and scooped Rosalind up from the floor, his face stern and grim.
Ulric couldn’t bear to think what might have happened if he hadn’t come today. A drunk woman is at anyone’s mercy.
“Four years and you haven’t made any progress at all.”
…
Outside, Adrian and Mr. Sanderson were still waiting.
The spiked drink had finally come into play today.
Mr. Sanderson cut a piece of steak and smiled, “Adrian, this is a common tactic in business! Women are the easiest to deal with. She’s the project director; as long as she’s willing to give us some leeway, negotiations will be much smoother.”
“Mr. Sanderson, you’re truly wise and willing to sacrifice for the company’s benefit.”
“Haha! It’s not much of a loss for me; she’s quite attractive. It’s just a pity she’s a married woman.” He glanced at the bottle of wine with deepened eyes and an unconcealed smile on his lips. “How much did you put in the drink? I hope I can handle it tonight; after all, I’m forty.”
“Don’t worry! I followed your instructions carefully; the amount is definitely enough. You’re in your prime; you’ll be fine.”
Mr. Sanderson placed the cut steak onto his plate and patted Adrian’s shoulder. “Adrian, that’s why you’re thriving in this company! I have high hopes for you.”
Adrian had restrained himself earlier but that didn’t mean he wasn’t eager to use Rosalind for his gain!
If something went wrong, Mr. Sanderson would take the fall as a senior executive. If everything went smoothly, he could still please his boss! Why not?
