“You don’t have to worry about that.”
Jeremy said as he walked towards a side tea cabinet and removed a wood-grained box with a combination lock from the inside.
He rattled it twice and opened the box.
A palm sized jade token was held in his hand and he looked coldly at Paige, “You carry this token and someone from THE Davis family will let you in.”
“…”
Paige held out her hand and took the jade token.
A round jade plaque with a cool feel to it, it was thick and heavy, with detailed and beautiful carvings.
It belonged to Enrico’s mother.
Paige couldn’t help but reach out her hands to protect it before raising her eyes to look at him, “What happens after we go in?”
“Find a way to dig in the backyard of Annie’s room and bring it out to me when you do.”
Jeremy stated his purpose.
“What is it?” Paige asked curiously, “A treasure that will help you rise again?”
He didn’t dare to use the diamonds Enrico had given him, so he must surely seek to capitalize on his comeback, from other sources.
“Where do you get off talking so much!”
Jeremy glared at her disgruntledly, then threw a black feather brooch onto the tea table, “Put it on yourself, and if you go too long without talking, or talking nonsense, I’ll leave immediately, and you’ll be ready to be poisoned.”
“…”
Paige carefully slipped the jade tablet into her own pocket and picked up the brooch again to look at the end.
It was a camera bug.
The tiny pinhole camera was hidden between the black feathers so that nothing unusual could be seen from the outside.
Well prepared.
She laughed softly, “Why don’t you go yourself, you’re afraid that someone from THE Davis family, already knows that you’ve victimized your wife and abandoned your son, and that you won’t make it out alive?”
At those words, Jeremy was once again enraged, grabbing his dagger and stabbing it into the tea table, glaring hard at her, “Paige, don’t push me!”
“…”
Paige gave him a look and stopped talking, cooperating by pinning the brooch to her side.
“Come with me when you’re almost recovered.” Jeremy said as he turned and headed out the door.
Paige bit her lip and slowly stood up from her chair, her heart beating fast again but thankfully still steady, she took a deep breath to ease the strangeness in her body taking a step outside.
She stepped out of the wooden door with one foot.
It didn’t feel like much in the monitor, once she was out she realized that the view outside was pleasant.
Outside is not a river, is a lake, an endless turquoise lake, as the sky down a piece of jade, rocks and small islands dotted with them, the distant mist hazy, like a fairyland in general.
Nearby, the grass grows vigorously, the wooden house in front of the flowers, trees in succession, the beauty of the stunning.
The air of such a place was permeated with freshness not found in the city, no wonder even the birds’ chirps were so powerful.
“You come with me.” Jeremy had little interest in enjoying the scenery and walked on.
Paige followed him slowly.
The two of them walked forward along the lake, not far from a tarmac road.
As they walked, a flash of color caught her eye.
Only the road winding into the distance had red ribbons wrapped around the streetlights all the way down, the ribbons fluttering in the wind like a tinsel thrown out to call for something.
“…”
Paige watched, mind reeling.
“Why don’t you go?” Jeremy glared back at her.
Paige calmly withdrew her eyes and said in a serious voice, “I need to go to the bathroom.”
“Trouble.”
Jeremy looked around in annoyance, then saw a public restroom across the street and said, “Go by yourself.”
“Then this one …”
Paige glanced down at her brooch.
“I’m not in the mood to watch people go to the bathroom.” Jeremy glared at her grimly.
“No, I’d be insecure.” Paige refused.
“Then don’t go on it.” Jeremy practically gritted his teeth.
“…”
Paige didn’t say anything, but she didn’t keep walking either, she just stood still.
Jeremy’s desire to kill her bubbled up again, and he took a breath and, once he’d held his tongue, held out his hand toward her, “Give it to me! Hurry up!”
“Good.” Paige nodded in satisfaction and unhooked the brooch and handed it to him before turning and walking slowly toward the road.
Just as she walked to the road, Jeremy’s threatening voice came from behind her, “Don’t think about escaping or moving any help, I didn’t put the antidote on my body, if you honestly find something for me, I’ll naturally give it to you.”
Such an empty place, a toilet is just a toilet, he still doesn’t believe that she will be able to fly.
“Got it.” Paige answered and crossed the street when she saw that there were no cars on the road.
The public restroom was cleaned up and she took a step inside, where it was empty.
She glanced over.
If it had been her, she would have …
Thinking about it, Paige casually pushed open a single door and stepped inside, opening a cardboard box that held paper on the side, she reached in and pressed it and couldn’t help but smile knowingly.
She removed the stack of papers, only to see an unfamiliar cell phone lying quietly on the pile.
Paige locked the door tightly, leaned aside to pick up the phone, and turned it on.
The password.
Her birthday, no, Enrico’s birthday, no.
Careful enough to be afraid that Jeremy would arrive discreetly to check the women’s restroom and google their birthdays to try out the passwords?
What was the password that Jeremy couldn’t find, but the two of them knew?
Paige held her cell phone in contemplation for two seconds before she typed Gabriel’s birthday into it.
Unlocked successfully.
She tapped into the chat screen, in which only one person was saved.
The other person’s avatar: Forgotten Fruit.
Opponent’s nickname: Bully.
“…”
Paige silently tapped on this phone’s messages.
Our avatar: Deadwood Snow.
Our nickname: Little Stepford Wife.
Just very … Enrico.
Paige silently returns to the chat screen and enters text.
[Little Stepford Wife: He told me to take Annie’s token and go into the Davis family to look for something, probably treasure or something like that].
The other party replied in seconds after the text was sent.
[Bossy President: I heard the Folsom family people say that you have to go to the Folsom family?
To be able to say so is not a strong objection, so it seems that THE Folsom family three siblings remembered her words and didn’t tell him about her being drugged.
[Little Stepford Wife: Well, I want to see what else Jeremy is going to do.]
Another second back there.
[Bossy: the Davis family I’ve never been to, not sure what kind of group of people they are.]
On that note, Paige is fairly optimistic, and she sends the text over.
[Little Stepford Wife: Jeremy and I have the opposite idea, a family that can raise Annie must not be bad, I’m not worried at all.]]
The nickname hurt her eyes.
This time, the other party hesitated slightly for two seconds before replying.
[Bully: There’s a pair of earrings in a hidden corner under the sink, put them on.]
Paige listens to the commotion outside, walks out, and goes under the sink to find the earrings.
PAIGE: Very good.
Another camera bug.
She’s a human camera.
Paige dutifully puts the studs back on and flicks the sides of her hair over her ears.
Just as she finished, her cell phone vibrated again.
She picked it up and saw an additional message on the screen.
[Overbearing President: Blanca told me to tell you that if you see a middle-aged man with a tear mole under his right eye, you can seek his help.]
