Wedding rings

As I left dad’s office, my insides were bubbling with excitement. Explaining to dad my swift decision to get remarried wasn’t as hard as I expected it to would be.
Today, I had planned to surprise Nicholas so I went back into my room to change my outfit. Within minutes, I was done changing into a short floral gown since it’s getting really hot these days.
After, I tied my hair in a tight bun and put on a pair of sneakers. I picked up a handbag from my closet and wore it to match. Then, I proceeded to put on my jewelries.
When I was done, I stared at myself in the mirror and I was really satisfied with what I was seeing. I picked up my phone, and credit card before leaving my room.
When I got to the living room, I saw Amara sitting idly on a couch. When she sensed my presence, she raised up her head to stare at me. I ignored her piercing gaze on me and was about to leave when;
“Where are you going?” She asked making me stop dead on my tracks.
“I don’t think it’s any of your business.” I remarked. She was leaving the house soon so I didn’t see any need to hide my feud with her.
“Wow..” She chuckled softly and clapped her hands in an irritating manner. She stood up and walked over to where I stood.
“Because your dad is sending me away, you think you can disrespect me?” She asked, her expression had changed to an angry one.
“Like I have ever had respect for you.” I muttered under my breath, but loud enough for her to hear.
Her expression turned into a very grim one. She pointed at me angrily; “You fucking bi…” She suddenly stopped speaking and maintained a normal stance.
“You know what.. I don’t blame you. It’s because of the love I have for your father, that’s the only reason I’m letting you off.” She said as she tried to force a sincere smile into her face.
I stared at her thoughtfully. Why the sudden change in words and expression? Then, I noticed how her eyes keep moving to something, rather someone behind me.
Is someone there? Is it probably dad? I moved my eyes to the mirror behind her and as expected, dad was standing at a safe distance away from us. He wasn’t really visible but he could still listen to our conversation.
I smiled softly when I realised what she was planning to do. It won’t work. I’m not going to fall into her trap, rather I’ll drag her into it.
“You don’t need to act like you do anymore. I know you don’t really love him. Everyone in this house knows that except him obviously.” I said.
She had a shocked look on her face, not expecting me to call her out in such a manner.
“So what are you trying to say? That I’m only here for your father’s money?” She croaked out as she tried to maintain a confident stance.
I stared at her quietly and smiled, realizing I had gotten to her. “Well, I didn’t say anything like that. You’re the one that mentioned being a gold digger and I can’t help but be suspicious.” I said.
Her eyes widened as the realization of what I was trying to do hit her. “You…”
“I what??” I asked.
It seemed like she was at loss of what to do or say so she kept quiet and left. I almost laughed out as I watched her leave in defeat. This is only the beginning.
After she was out of sight, I turned on my heels and left the house. I knew dad still wouldn’t believe what he has heard yet so I didn’t bother to explain my words to him.
When I get all of the evidence from Nicholas, it would be Amara’s last day in our family.

Amara walked out of the mansion’s building, towards the garden. She found herself a seat on one of the chairs and sat in it. She recalled what had just happened between her and Catherine and felt more anger surging into her.
She had tried to provoke Catherine on purpose so Catherine would lash out at her in front of Hector. As always, she would cry to him and he would reprimand Catherine.
That way, she would even try to change his mind about sending her out of the house. She didn’t expect Catherine would find out so soon about her plans. It almost backfired on her.
Catherine’s words to her made her wonder if she had found out about her fraudulent activities in the company.
“No.. there’s no way she would know about it.” She muttered as she shook her head vehemently.
“If she did, she would have exposed me by now. Besides, even if she knows, it can’t be traced back to me.” She said to herself.
Her explanations made her feel at ease a little but she couldn’t stop feeling angry with how Catherine was acting towards her.
“I need to do something. I need something much more bigger that she wouldn’t be able to get out from because I’m already running out of time.” She muttered to herself as she tried to think of a very good plan to execute.

We got to the jewelry store and Fiona parked the car at the driveway. I got out and walked into the building with Fiona following behind me.
When I entered the building, one of the staffs recognized me and rushed to attend to me.
“Welcome back Mrs. Dyson. It’s been a while you visited.” She said.
“Yeah.. it’s been a while.” I answered with a small smile.
“What woukd you like to purchase today?” She asked.
“Rings.” I answered curtly.
“We have a lot of imported ones that you can pick from. Come with me.” She as she led me to the ring section while I followed quietly.
My surprise for Nicholas was a wedding ring to symbolize our love and marriage. We didn’t get one before as we just registered our marriage at the bureau.
I had initially planned to custom-design a unique pair of rings as a special token of our love. However, with Nicholas leaving in a week, there wasn’t enough time for the customization.
I browsed through the series of rings being showcased till my eyes landed on a pair of elegantly designed rings that sparkled brilliantly under the lights, perfectly matching my taste.
Just as I was about to ask the salesperson to take them out, I noticed Andrew in another corner of the store, someone I least wanted to see.
