The next day
My peaceful sleep was disrupted by the sound of my alarm ringing. I yawned tiredly and sat up on my bed. I did a little stretch before standing up. Then, I proceeded into the bathroom to do my daily morning ritual.
After I was done, I put on casual house wears before leaving my room. It was a Sunday morning so I didn’t have to go to the company today. As expected, I met dad in the dinning hall and we had breakfast together.
Thankfully, Amara wasn’t there at the time so I enjoyed my meal peacefully. Like he had promised, dad had completely cut her off from the family and conpany even though she was still staying with us for the moment.
She would be leaving for the country side in a few days but it wasn’t really enough for me. I needed to rid her completely out of our lives but I just have to wait for some more time to put my plan in motion.
After having breakfast with dad, I retired back to my room. I decided to sort out some of my unfinished work in the company before breaking the good news to dad.
By the time I was done, it was already late in the afternoon. I went to his room but he wasn’t there so I decided to go to his study. After knocking twice, I heard his voice from inside, asking me to come in.
He was seated on his chair, with a reading glass resting on his face. He seemed busy but I was just too excited to wait to break the news to him.
When he noticed how giddy I looked, he couldn’t help but be inquisitive; “What’s going on?” He asked.
I smiled at him, took in a deep breath and told him everything. He had a very surprised look on his face when he heard what I had to say.
“When did this happen?” He asked.
“Uhm.. about a week ago.” I replied happily.
“But.. you were at the hospital then. How did you get married without me knowing??”
“It was the day I got discharged. There was no party. We just registered our marriage.” I answered.
“But…” He looked really flabbergasted.
“… how come?? You guys hate each other. You’ve always been at each other’s throats since you both first met. Even at the meeting that day..”
“It was all an act.” I said.
“What??”
“We staged an argument so no one would know about our relationship.” I explained.
“So you guys have never really hated each other? You were having an extra marital affair?” He asked, with a hint of disappointment laced in his voice.
“No dad. That’s not it. We did hate each other from the beginning. The fights were all real till that night I caught Andrew cheating on me with Matilda. He helped me with some things and from then on, we became friends.”
“And the friendship slowly turned into love?” He asked while I nodded my head.
Dad sighed in relief before saying; “For a moment there, I thought you cheated on Andrew first.”
“Never dad. I really did love him. I only started to lose feelings for him when I found out that he’s a liar and a cheater.” I answered.
“Good thing you’ve divorced him already. But about Nicholas…”
“What about him??”
“I get that you love him already and I’m not trying to judge you but don’t you think that it’s too early to be married to him. I mean, you just divorced your last husband. What if this gets released to the public? It might backfire on you.” He asked in concern.
“I did think about that but then I realised that public opinions don’t really matter. How I live my life is my problem not others’.”
“So you’re sure you won’t regret your decision?” Dad asked again.
“I won’t.” I answered firmly.
“Okay then, I have no objection. You’re an adult and can make your own decisions for yourself. I trust your judgement and I believe Nicholas is a worthy patner. At least, he’s better than the past men in your life.” Dad said.
“Really dad??” I asked happily.
“Yes, all I want is your happiness and if you feel happy being married to him, who am I to object??”
“Thank you so much dad.” I said and embraced him tightly. Dad laughed and hugged me back, affectionately patting my head.
I was greatly moved by my father’s acceptance, feeling our relationship had significantly improved. All that’s left is to chase the gold digger away before she does more harm. We stayed in that position for a short while before I pulled away.
“Now that I’ve told you about my marriage, you should already know my next decision.”
“You want to move in with him?” Dad asked and I nodded immediately.
“You just can’t wait to run to your husband.” Dad teased making me blush profusely.
“You can go.” He said.
“Don’t worry dad. I won’t be staying for long. Just till he leaves for his business trip which is in a few days time.” I assured.
“Alright. I’ll see you in a few days then.”

Unbeknownst to both father and daughter, Amara was right outside the study with her ears pressed against the door. She had been eavesdropping on their conversation right from the moment Catherine walked into the study.
When she heard footsteps of someone heading to the door, she quickly left for fear of being caught. She walked into the room that she shared with Hector and plopped down on the bed angrily.
“Wow!!” She muttered.
“I never knew Catherine had it in her. She dumped Andrew and decided to go for a more wealthy man. It hasn’t been up to a month that she divorced Andrew and now, she’s already married!!”
The anger surging through Amara was so great. She felt like she had been set up. Catherine was living the perfect life with the perfect man while she’s about to get sent to the countryside.
“I should have killed that bitch when I had the chance.” She muttered as she tapped her legs severally om the floor.
“I can’t leave yet. I need to find my way back into Hector’s heart but how?” She asked herself as she bit her nails severly till she cut herself but she didn’t seem to notice it.
“I can’t leave yet, not when Catherine is finally getting everything. No!! This company is mine and I’ll do whatever I can to get it back!!” She vowed.
