“It’s about Amara. I have some information about her that would be advantageous you. I can only reveal them if you agree to meet with me alone during the weekend.”
I stared at him suspiciously. Why would he want to leak secrets about his dearest love? What does he stand to gain? Then again, he was able to cheat on her without blinking twice even though she was the ‘love of his life’ but I still couldn’t help the suspicious feeling I was getting.
“You have information about her??” I asked like I didn’t hear him the first time and he nodded his head as a way of replying me.
“Why don’t you just say it here then? It doesn’t really call for a hidden meeting. Afterall, we are already divorced. ” I reminded.
“It’s too important to be told at a place like this. Amara has a lot of ears in this company.” He said and stared around like someone was watching us.
Is he talking about Jude? He said a lot of ears, that means Jude isn’t the only one.
“So… are we going to meet?” He asked, bringing back my attention to him.
“What do do stand to gain in this?” I asked, my voice laced with suspicion.
“Your love and trust.”
“Well, that’s never going to happen.” I affirmed.
“You can’t be so sure yet. Just have the meeting with me first, if the information is helpful to you, I’m sure I would have a little place back in your heart.” He said with the most certainty.
Hearing his words, I almost bursted out in laughter. He is just so full of himself and I needed to cut off his wings. He has valuable information for me?
Good.. I’ll have the information but just not him back. I’ll make him feel twice the pain I felt when I was married to him.
“When and where are we meeting?” I asked and I noticed the wide smile that appeared on his face.
“I’ll text you the details. See you soon my love.” I almost gagged when he mentioned those words.
He gave me one last irritating smile before he finally left. After he left, I noticed Nicholas outside the door. His expression showing clear displeasure. Did he listen to my conversation with Andrew??
His eyes drifted to the roses Andrew had left and a very angry look appeared on his face. I wanted to explain what had happened but he didn’t want to listen to what I had to say. He stormed off in fury.
I sent him a text message, explaining my conversation with Andrew and why I wanted to meet with him but he replied that he wasn’t concerned.
I knew well that he was and doesn’t want me to meet Andrew but I had already made up my mind. If Andrew really has important information about Amara, I needed to know about it.
Also, I won’t be going alone like he had requested. I was going to take Fiona with me just in case he tries to do anything funny. I decided that later in the day, I would have a deep talk with Nicholas. At a time like this, we can’t be distanced from each other.
Later in the afternoon
I went out for lunch with my coworkers. After eating to my fill, I went back to my office only to be greeted by a bouquet of high end roses from Ecuador, each exuding a rich fragrance.
I didn’t know who would send me flowers as Nicholas was mad at me and Andrew already gave me some. Besides, Andrew was too cheap to buy me this type of flowers so I decided to read the note on it so as to know the sender.
“Only I can give you the most beautiful roses.” The note made me think about Nicholas and I couldn’t help but blush profusely.
I found it amusing that even though he was really mad at me, he could still be romantic towards me. I had the rose displayed in my office, giving it a touch of romance and made my secretary trash Andrew’s bouquet.
After that, I went back to work. I was about dealing with some files when I suddenly recieved an email from an unfamiliar sender. I curiously opened the mail and was surprised to read the contents.
It was an invitation to meet at Cartwright grand hotel. The sender claimed to have informations that my husband, Nicholas was hiding from me. I was surprised as to how the person knew I was married to Nicholas.
I haven’t made it public yet neither have I even told my dad so how?? I stared at the mail quietly, not knowing what to do. What would they possibly know about Nicholas that I don’t?
“What if the person really has something to tell me??” I asked myself.
The person was able to find out that I’m married to Nicholas so he’s definitely going to be a big shot. But what if it’s a trap?? Still, I need to find out the information he/she has for me.
Filled with curiosity and suspicion, I decided to accept the invitation. I indicated that I was going to bring a bodyguard to ensure my safety.
I didn’t know who I was meeting with but I had to make sure to be ready just in case I was walking into the lion’s den.
Days later
I stepped into the luxurious lobby of the Cartwright Grand Hotel, feeling really uneasy despite my thorough preparation for the meeting with the mysterious person.
The only thing that eased my mind a little was the fact that Fiona was with me. I headed towards the private room appointed for me and gently knocked on the door.
The door slowly opened, revealing a young man in his mid thirties. I walked in, my eyes not leaving him at all as be looked really familiar to me but I wasn’t really sure of where I had met him.
“You really did bring a bodyguard with you.” He muttered as he glanced at Fiona for a swift moment.
“Who are you and what information do you have about my husband?” I asked, going straight to the point.
He stared at me in surprise, not expecting my question. “You really don’t know who I am?”
“Am I supposed to?” I asked back, giving him a blank look.
“No way.. you should. You’re husband should have mentioned me at some point.” He said.
I stared at him silently, wondering why Nicholas would mention him. Then it suddenly hit me. This was one of the Cartwright Grand hotel’s most expensive suites.
A normal celebrity or hot shot can’t afford such a room as it was secluded to just family members alone. That was when I remembered the place I had seen him.
It was in my past life and he was arrested for embezzlement of the company’s funds before Nicholas took over. He was the cousin to Rafeal Carthwright and the second heir to the conglomerate.
“Richard Cartwright.” I muttered and he smiled.
“The one and only.”
