Chapter 468: Afraid She Might Get Pregnant

However, Nelson always kept his feelings hidden. Even though he had been honest with her, she could never be sure if there was another woman in his heart.
Nelson just smiled after hearing her words, slowly tightening the cap on the ointment, and said with rare patience, “How do you define love?”
Callie thought for a moment and blurted out, “When you’re young, love is seeing your crush and feeling your heart race. You want to give them everything good, and even before dating, you’ve already fallen for them a thousand times.”
She didn’t notice Nelson’s face darken. “You seem to know a lot about it.”
Callie was a bit stunned, realizing she hadn’t used the word “love” in a long time.
“No…”
Nelson had no intention of properly answering her question. Perhaps, in his view, such pure topics couldn’t be discussed between them.
But then again, Nelson’s next action answered Callie’s question.
He took a bottle of pills from somewhere, poured some into his palm, and handed them to Callie. “Take these.”
Callie was taken aback, looking at the two white pills. “What are these?”
Nelson didn’t speak.
She suddenly understood. Nelson had always been the one to take contraceptive measures between them. Since he hadn’t done so just now, it was naturally her turn to take the pills.
Callie realized this was normal procedure. She probably wanted a child even less than he did. But for some reason, she suddenly felt paralyzed, staring at Nelson with a strange expression. “It’s not like missing one time will definitely result in pregnancy.”
Nelson didn’t withdraw his hand.
Callie nodded, grabbed the pills, and swallowed them without even drinking water.
After taking them, she turned back with a playful smile. “Are you that afraid of me having your child?”
Upon seeing her expression, the water glass in Nelson’s other hand suddenly couldn’t be offered anymore. The words he wanted to say were completely stuck in his throat.
“Don’t worry, I’m not that foolish. Even if I accidentally got pregnant, I wouldn’t use it as leverage against you. I want to live freely in the future.”
Callie lay in her arms as if nothing had happened.
Free? She wasn’t free by his side?
Nelson suddenly felt anger rising. He had her take the pills because he had been drinking and smoking tonight; it wasn’t the right time for pregnancy. But she didn’t seem to understand and said such things.
So he completely forgot the fleeting vulnerability in her eyes earlier. Yes, she was so carefree; how could she care about their child?
Nelson slammed the water glass down heavily and walked out of the room. The door closed with a soft thud, but he didn’t see that the moment he closed the door, Callie’s face buried in her arms was already covered in tears.
That night, to the servants at Paucaster Villa Complex, it seemed like a relatively pleasant evening. But for some reason, the next morning, the atmosphere was entirely different from what they had imagined.
Nelson and Callie seemed to have nothing to say to each other.
Early in the morning, Callie had already packed her things and said in a fit of pique, “I’m going to work.”
Nancy stood behind Nelson, staring blankly at Callie’s departing figure. “What…” She fell silent upon seeing Nelson’s suddenly stern face.
In fact, Callie was furious. She had spent the whole night in a bad mood and woke up to find that man didn’t seem to have any intention of apologizing. Of course, the dignified Nelson would never apologize.
It was really too much. Just because she liked him, he made her take the pills!
