Massive, dark clouds rolled across the sky, swallowing the sunlight. In a split second, the once-peaceful area was engulfed by a fierce, howling storm! Slowly, the dark clouds descended, casting a shadow over the entire Scott Mansion as if preparing to swallow it whole.
It felt like an apocalyptic scene as if the sun had vanished. One could sense that an impending calamity was closing in on the Scott family.
Everyone in the Scott family felt their hearts in their throats. The power to command storms, to change the weather, was unimaginable. Even the most sophisticated among them were left speechless, awestruck by Kayden’s ferocious killing intent.
Overwhelming! His power was astonishingly overwhelming! This mastery over nature was something they had never imagined, let alone witnessed!
A little way off, on a construction crane, a group of workers watched in stunned silence as the storm brewed over the Scott Mansion!
“Hey! Look there, isn’t that the Scott family estate?”
“Yeah, it is. Wait, what the hell! What’s going on? It looks like the end of the world!”
“No, no, no! That’s a horrifying guess. If the end of the world really comes and families like theirs can’t survive, then hardly anyone in Vernon would stand a chance! I’m telling you; they must be summoning something… that holds the power to change the weather! And now, look at those dark clouds, those storms-it’s all its doing.”
“What nonsense! What kind of creature could control the weather? It’s just that the Scott family is meeting their downfall today. I can see it!”
“No, it’s got to be a dragon! They have always been strong for a reason. I bet there must be a dragon vein lying beneath their mansion and shielding them, which is why their family prospered. Now, the vein has awakened, and that’s why all this is happening.”
“You must’ve read way too many novels and got your brain scrambled! What dragon vein? Sounds ridiculous!”
“Oh, come on! Don’t you believe dragons could exist in this world?”
The group fell silent, shifting their gazes back to the direction of the Scott Mansion.
In that instant, Jason was paralyzed with shock. He knew Kayden harbored resentment toward them, but he never expected it to have festered to this extent! Kayden’s strength was so overwhelming that he could obliterate their whole family as long as he wished!
The hand gripping his cane was shaking, and he himself had become visibly nervous and fearful.
“Jason Scott! You and your family, get ready to meet your end!”
Kayden’s voice sounded like a demon’s murmurs from the depths of hell. One word from him could seal the fate of the Scott family.
Right now, his heart surged with nothing but resentment toward the Scott family. He had dreamed of this moment countless times-of returning, of the ruin he would bring down upon them. And now, his chance was here!
Their fate lay within his grasp!
As he released a mighty roar, thunder boomed through the clouds, and a blinding bolt of lightning crashed down, striking the roof of one of the buildings. Shards of glazed tiles shattered with a loud clang, scattering in all directions.
That building was where the Scott family used it as a conference room-the very place where Kayden’s parents had been killed.
It was terrifying! Everyone gazed in awe and fear. Such immense, earth-shattering power was fearsome beyond words.
Now, they understood why Kayden was known as the “War God,” and why Jason treated him with such deference.
Boom! Another thunderous explosion rocked the skies, as though the heavens were being torn apart.
A dazzling golden light suddenly flared up behind Kayden. “From this moment on, the Scott family is no more!” he declared in a cold and resolute voice.
He looked like a deity passing judgment on mere mortals. He stood alone, but his aura swept through the room with the weight of an army. An icy dread seeped into everyone present.
“Ghostbusters! Where are the Ghostbusters?! It’s your time to protect your master!” Conrad cried out in a panic.
At his command, a group of men flooded in from all directions, each wearing a ghost mask and wielding a gleaming steel blade. There were fifty or sixty of them in total. They quickly surrounded Kayden in a tight circle.
They all aimed their sharp blades at Kayden. Even faced with Kayden’s lethal, overwhelming aura, none of them showed fear; instead, they wore expressions of fierce, unbreakable loyalty. The Ghostbusters of the Scott family had guarded this family for generations-they did not fear death.
Back in the day, they fought on the ancient battlegrounds.
Kayden cast a sweeping glance at the Ghostbusters surrounding him. A faint smirk of contempt appeared on his face. “The Ghostbusters… now you’re really bold enough to raise your swords against me?”
Then, every muscle in his body shuddered with power, and in that instant, he was like a wrathful dragon. An intangible force emanated from him, rippling through the air. The force surged outward like waves crashing in all directions.
The Ghostbusters stood perfectly still, but the rest of the Scott family members were forced several steps back by the sheer force.
“How is he so powerful!” one of them couldn’t help exclaiming.
“Gosh, how many lives must he have taken to carry such a menacing aura? I can’t even breathe facing such kind of strength!”
His menacing aura was so thick that they could see it with naked eyes and feel it rippling through the air. All the Scott family members, except for the girls, had trained in martial arts since childhood-they knew exactly what this was!
To get this kind of menacing aura, one must have killed tens of thousands, perhaps even hundreds of thousands!
If he were to make a move, even the Ghostbusters might not be able to hold him off.
Kayden glanced at the still, unflinching Ghostbusters and thought, “They really are the Scott family’s hidden trump card. Their strength and courage are not to be underestimated.”
“Anyone who harms our master is doomed to die!” shouted the Ghostbusters in perfect unison. Then, they each took a step forward.
In Kayden’s hand, a sharp blade materialized, formed from sheer will. Every ounce of rage within him had ignited, and he was ready to reap all their lives!
“Stop!” At that pivotal moment, Jason’s voice thundered through the air.
He slammed his cane against the ground with a resounding thud, then roared, “Stand down, all of you!”
“Father!” Conrad protested. “He’s bent on destroying our family! We can’t just stand by and wait to be slaughtered! We should fight back, to show our pride and our honor!”
Jason raised his hand, cutting him off with fury. “So, this is your way to show our family’s pride? To strike at our country’s War God? You’re trying to make our family bear the shame of being disloyal to the nation! Moreover, hurting our own bloodline is dishonorable. Do you want me to be a man with neither loyalty nor honor?”
Turning to the Ghostbusters, Jason commanded with an unwavering tone, “All the Ghostbusters, stand down at once!”
The Ghostbusters didn’t dare to disobey Jason’s order. Within seconds, they vanished without a trace. They had always been elusive, leaving and turning up abruptly like the phantoms. They would only appear when the Scott family was in crisis.
Jason stared at Kayden, and his once-proud, commanding gaze now filled with tears. Hunched over and drained of energy, he looked like a deflated balloon. His eyes-those that once held a powerful glint-were now hollow and lifeless as they rested on Kayden.
“Kayden, I know I committed an unforgivable sin. I can see your hatred for me, and I’ve braced myself to take on your hatred. All of this, all of your suffering, is my doing. I am the one who ordered your parents’ deaths, the one who imprisoned you in that dungeon. I broke you, brought you the pain, and made you end up like this now. I won’t deny my sins, but I beg you, spare my family. They had no part in this. If you need to settle your grudge with someone, let it be me. Take my life if you must. I am well prepared for it now!”
With that, Jason squared his shoulders and closed his eyes, as if ready to meet his end.
“Father! What do you mean?”
“Grandpa, please, no!”
No one in the Scott family had anticipated these words from Jason. The shock ran through them.
Jason ignored the calls behind him. His bloodshot eyes remained fixed on Kayden as he said with unwavering conviction, “The only regret in my life is that I won’t be there to see you, my grandson Kayden, take the position of the head of our family. But the one thing that brings me solace is that I can die by the hand of the War God of Seclela. To me, this is an honor beyond measure!”
A resolute, fearless expression spread across Jason’s face, as though he was ready to embrace his fate.
Kayden narrowed his eyes. “Do you really think that your death could earn my forgiveness for what you have done? And then I’ll willingly step into the role of family head? Jason Scott, you’re such a fool! After I kill you, I’ll send every last person in your family to the hell!” he announced in a voice as cold as steel.
Jason lifted his gaze to the sky, shaking his head slowly with a deep sigh. “No, that won’t happen! I’ve already seen you take the position of the family head. I’m certain of it.”
“Such arrogance!” Kayden had run out of his patience. With fury burning in his chest, he lunged at Jason without another word.
But just as he surged forward, from beneath the earth came a roar, deep and majestic, as if a beast that had slumbered for a century was about to awaken.
