Angel
Both Thea and I had gotten too immersed in the party Raymond threw for us. I had forgotten to speak with him about Sam and Thea might have been the only one who remembered later but she had gone there without me, driving me insane with that call.
Without wasting any time I hurried to get my car key. When Raymond, my uncle saw me, he stopped me asking where I was headed.
“Angel!” He called after me. ” Where are you going in such a hurry?”
“I don’t have time uncle. Thea is in trouble.” I said and left him but Raymond followed.
“Where are you going? Do you need back up?” He said hastily.
“To the stewards place. Get in, I’ll tell you you about it on our way.” Raymond got into the car and I sped up. He tried to make me calm down but this was Thea we were talking about and she sounded so scared over the phone. Sam knew better than to touch her but then he could be a psycho.
I told Raymond what Thea noticed and what had transpired earlier. He seemed shocked pointing out that Sam seemed to be a very cheerful and nice man. He probably got everyone deceived with his facade.
We arrived at Sam’s place and got out of the car. Raymond held me back when he saw I was approaching aggressively.
“You need to play smart if truely he has Thea. Let’s talk to him calmly. His body language will expose him Angel.” Ray said and I nodded even though I was dying of worry.
The place looked quiet and peaceful like any normal night should be in his house. If I wasn’t sure Thea was the one who called, I would have believed that there was a mistake somewhere.
Once we got to the door, Raymond did the knocking while I tried to exercise patience. No one responded and I was almost losing my patience. Raymond and I had agreed to barge in if we knocked further and no one responded but then we heard sounds from inside and soon the door was opened.
Sam’s belt was half fixed and my thought went wild. I looked behind me to see if there was something amidst but it looked fine in there.
“Sir Raymond…. Sir.” He acted surprised to see us.” What brings you to my house this late at night? Hope all is well?”
He asked and Raymond responded. His voice was calm that one wouldn’t suspect a thing.
“Why did you delay answering the door?” I couldn’t keep it in. I wanted to approach him interrogatively. My tone was not calm at all especially when compared to the way Raymond had spoken to him. He looked at Raymond as if expecting him to say something but he didn’t. He laughed and I could sense the nervousness in his voice.
“I apologize but eh….” He had this disgusting look in his face like he were trying to blush. ” I was in the middle of something with my wife.” He said smiling and I almost wanted to smash his head against the wall. His wife or Thea? The thought got me shaking slightly and Sam seemed to have noticed I was getting furious. A glint of fear appeared in his eyes so he looked at Raymond instead.
I knew he could feel the tension.
“I guess we have to apologize for interrupting but then what about your daughter, didn’t she hear us knocking?” Raymond continued.
“Selene? Oh she’s fast asleep.”
Fucking liar!
“Well, we came here because we received a call from Thea. She said she was here and wanted us to come pick her up.”
“Ma’am Thea?” He acted surprised then laughed. “Not at all. You must be mistaken. I haven’t seen her at all after you both left my place this afternoon. Besides, if she did come here, she would have taken a car. It’s quite a distance walking this field.”
He did have a point but then, I was certain Thea was here. No matter how he tried to act calm, his body movements dropped slight hints here and there.
A desperate person would take desperate actions. Even if Thea had come with a car which I believed she did, he could have driven it away from here.
Ray and I looked at each other and had an agreement without saying a word.
“Alright Sam. We apologize for the misunderstanding. We will be heading out now.” Ray said and I could see Sam relax in relieve.
We turned to leave but then I took him by surprise when I turned around and punched him hard in the face, I kicked the door open and Sam was crawling away on his back with a bloody nose. Ray came in as well.
Joe came rushing down the stairs looking very scared.
“Sir Angel! What’s the meaning of this?”
He still had the guts to pretend.
“One more word and I’ll beat you up till you can’t speak for real.” I threatened and he just kept moving away from me staining the ground with his blood.
I looked at Joe and she didn’t look like someone who was in too much shock seeing her hisband like that. Instead she looked nervous. Selene comes down and Joe tries to send her back but she wouldn’t listen instead she came down while Joe followed.
“What’s going on here?” Joe asked showing concern now. “Did my husband do something wrong?”
I drew my gaze from selene to Sam.
“Didn’t you say your daughter was asleep?” I asked. He looked angry but managed to answer me.
“You obviously woke her up by punching me on the face. I told you your girlfriend isn’t here.” He said raising his voice. I moved closer to him dragged him by his collar while he fidgeted.
“I hate being lied to. I won’t waste my time on you. I think I’ll get my answer from your wife.” I said and pushed him hard on the floor. His eyes were wide opened looking at his wife as if warning her not to say a thing.
Joe looked very scared but she couldn’t play hard for long.
“She did say she was going to come here but I swear she didn’t come anymore.” She said out of fear. I shook my head and glanced at him before trailng my gaze back to Joe.
“Is that how bad he tamed you?” I asked moving closer to her. She shook her head as if to deny it. ” You’re his prisoner Joe. Lying to me won’t save you or your daughter.” I said with a voiced laced with threat.
“She isn’t here.” Her voice was weaker this time.
“Stop lying mum!” Selene cried, tears falling off her eyes. She hurried towards her mum and pulled her shirt up but Joe was quick to bring it down but what Ray and I had seen a glimpse of was just beastly.
“Stop it selene. I told you to go back to your room.” She whispered.
“They could save us from him and help us save Liana.”
“Liana?” Ray asked looking shocked as I did. “Ray had mentioned how Liana went missing a year ago, she was Joe’s daughter with another man before Sam married her years back. “Didn’t you say she was missing?” He asked further.
“Yes, she was.” Joe said.
“You better shut your mouth selene! You can hate me all you want but don’t lie against me!” Sam yelled and this time Ray had it with him, he moved towards him and began punching his face thsyt I had to step in.
“She isn’t missing Sir Raymond.” Selene cried. “Mum is too scared to confront him about it but he had been abusing Liana sexually for years and when she threatened to report him she went missing suddenly but I know where she is.” Selene said amidst her tears. “I’ll take you to her.
Sam had tried to escape but we held him down giving him extra blows. Ray stayed with him while I follwed selene and her mother to an abandoned store house.
We got into the store room and I was filled with horror seeing Thea tied both hands and leg to a chair, her lips sealed with a tape. She had blood trickling down her face and bruises on her hand indicating that Sam had hit her.
I was furious beyond words could explain. I swear I was going to kill him for laying his hands on her. I rushed to Thea, her eyes widened in relieve the moment she saw me and tears began spilling down her face.
I quickly untied her and pulled the tape out.
“Angel….” She cried as she fell into my arms. I held her closely as tears fell off my eyes as well.
“I’m so sorry Thea, I shouldn’t have left your side for even a second.”
“I’m glad you’re here. He hurt me Angel. He hurt his family too.” She cried and I held her face within my palm. I kissed her and wiped her tears away.
“And he’ll pay for it dearly.” I said pulling her into my arms.
“Where exactly is Liana selene?” Joe asked crying as she looked around. I carried Thea in my arms about to take her away but she stopped me.
“You should help them.” She said. I dropped her gently and Selene pointed at the very spot Thea had been tied to.
“Are you saying Liana is underground?” I said shocked at Sam’s cruelty. I wasn’t any better but Sam was a normal person how was he capable of such cruelty to an innocent person?”
I hurried and began pulling the board away revealing a round hole and stairs leading downward. I went in asking the ladies to stay away.
I saw a thin looking woman sprawled on the floor. She almost didn’t look human.
Sam was a beast. Liana couldn’t talk or move well even when she noticed me come in. I assured her that she was okay and carried her up. Both selene and Joe erupted in tears when they saw her.
I couldn’t leave Liana like that, she needed urgent medical attention.
I notified Ray that I had found Thea and their missing daughter.
I wanted to kill Sam with my bare hands, beating him up to a pulp but Ray wouldn’t let me have my way. He said he wasn’t going to let me stain my hand with blood here and that he’d handle it the legal way.
I loved my uncle but that didn’t mean I’d listen. It was only untill Thea intervened that I had to give it up.
She wanted to have the memory that we helped a family and seeked justice for them the right way and not the memory that I had killed a man in the process.
Ray had called the town’s police, handing sam over to them while we provided adequate care for Liana to be treated and taken care of.
We moved all three women to another town and established them there.
Thea didn’t want to go back home with her scars still visible until she was healed. She didn’t want anyone at home to worry about her so we stayed back with Ray and his family for some time till Thea was healed.
We had time to make up for the ugly incident and bond with the people here as well before leaving for the mansion.
