I told Angel about what selene had told me, he wanted to return back but I stopped him knowing he was going to be brutal about it. Sam still had a little work for the day so he wouldn’t be home at least untill night to do anything about it. I advised him to speak to Ray about it. We needed to be careful.
Once we got home we were surprised to see the place bubbling more than normal.
“What are they celebrating?” I asked since Ray didn’t inform us about any of this. Angel was surprised as well.
We were made to know that Ray was organizing a celebration for us since we were to leave the next day.
The party became full blown at night with lots to drink and eat. I was introduced to the workers and everyone under the house payroll. The welcome was massive. I really enjoyed my short stay here.
While I was having a drink and talking with Lea, I suddenly sighted someone from the corner. It was selene and my jaw dropped.
How did I forget about them? My goodness! I cursed myself within. How could I have been so taken away?
I wanted to call her but she ran away so I excused myself and hurried after selene.
“Selene! Selene! Please stop!” I called after her. She stopped and I realized that she was crying.
“I’m so sorry selene. What happened?”
“My mum…. She.” she couldn’t complete a sentence, she was really heartbroken. “I ran because I saw my father.” She said and I glanced back to know if Sam was coming this way but he wasn’t. “He beat my mum. She’s bleeding. Please….” She broke out in tears. Without asking any questions I took one of the manual cars there grabbing the keys from the store. Ray had told us we could use them when going on rough fields. I didn’t bother calling Angel, he was somewhere talking with some of the men and since I was with a car and Sam wasn’t home. I just needed to drive Joe back here for proper care.
We got to their house and I saw Joe treating herself. Sam was a smart beater, there were no marks on the visible parts of her body so I raised her top and saw the cruelty he had melted on her.
“My goodness!” I was heartbroken at his cruelty.
I picked my phone and dialed Angel’s number while asking them to prepare to leave but then we heard the sound of a car approaching.
“He’s here!” Selene cried holding her mum. Angel picked the call but I was looking out the window and saw Sam walking aggressively towards the building. My car was outside so he knew someone was here with them.
“Thea talk to me!” Angel yelled after hearing Selene cry.
“I’m at Sam’s place, hurry.” I said and the door burst open. Sam came in, his true colours showing. I pulled selene and Joe behind my back in a protective manner.
Sam scoffs and smirks darkly at me.
“I knew you were trouble putting your ass where you shouldn’t have.” Sam said not trying to cover up anything. He moves closer removing his belt. What the fuck was he thinking? He wasn’t going to go free if he hurt me.
“Stay away from me or I’ll tell Angel what you did.” He laughs mocking me.
“You don’t even understand what deep shit you’re into now ma’am. Why are my calling you ma’am now….” He clicked his tongue and stared dangerously at me.
We startle and scream when he begins to scatter things on the ground. He was getting really angry.
“Why are you hurting your family?” I yelled amidst the chaos he was causing.
“Why couldn’t you just lay low, enjoy your stay and get the fuck out of here?” He said moving closer to me while I moved back.
“Let me go and I won’t tell anyone what happened here.” I cry as tears began to flow down my face. I had just lied even though I didn’t see it happening. He wasn’t stupid but I just had to say anything to escape and seek help.
“You think I’m stupid Thea? The moment i let you go, you will get Angel here. ”
“Please ….” I begged shaking. I didn’t want to imagine the things he’d do to me not after seeing the pain he inflicted on Joe.
“You should have thought of consequences when meddling in my business, now you’ll get what youve been looking for.” He says and his eyes go to Joe and selene. “Clean this mess up and get lost the both of you. I’ll deal with you later.” He yelled at them. I look at them seeing that they moved away from me. I felt betrayed, they were going to leave me with this monster. Tears fell off my eyes even more and Joe muttered an apology. I couldn’t judge Selene harshly, she looked like she was willing to help but was scared for her mum.
“Don’t leave.” I plead but they begin to walk. “At least call someone to help!” I yelled as they left. Sam erupts in laughter, irritating my ears. I was left alone with him and about to know my fate.
“Call for help? They don’t even use a phone.” He said and the next thing was his hand on my face. He slapped me so hard that I lost sight for some seconds. He began to kick me in the belly till I could feel the taste of blood in my tongue.
