Cassie
I was glad that Angel returned to us in one piece after the operation. I was grateful that he had not included Knight in it making my worry less. Thinking about what happened to Mike got me scared and it got me questioning.
What if Knight was with Angel? What if he had been shot and didn’t make it? I knew that Knight would give his life for Angel any day and time just as Angel would do for him.
I was so grateful that I got to spend every day now enjoying even the slightest thing with him.
Now that they were all settled, Knight and I decided it was time to get my belongings back from school since I was to study from home. Nothing made me happier than to go on this trip with him.
I did feel slightly guilty for not telling my friend Damian that I was coming to school, I planned to meet him but like Knight had hinted all these while, I was starting to get the feeling that Damian was attracted to me.
Despite all the chaos that was happening around me, I still kept my friendship afloat, speaking with him over the phone and face-time. He was probably the most normal thing about my life.
I believed Damian would feel uncomfortable knowing that Knight was coming with me. Actually, I was afraid to hurt him.
Knight and I arrived at our hotel room. It wasn’t so far off from my campus and my apartment at school.
Once we got in, Knight’s arms wrap around my waist, lifting me up from the ground while I curl my legs around his waist and grab his shoulders for balance.
This was what I wanted, a lone time with him. Of course I loved everyone but we needed to experience staying alone once in a while.
I stroke Knight’s curly hair as we stare into each other’s eyes intensely.
“We are here alone.” Knight said letting his sweet lips curl into the most beautiful smile.
“I’m here with you.” I said as well beaming a loving smile at him. I could never get tired of admiring the man before me. He was insanely gorgeous. Knight pulled my head towards his face and kissed me, causing my body to react instantly. He finally let me down but still had his hands around my waist.
“It feels different….” I said aware of the quiet atmosphere. “Cool…. Just being alone with you, away from the others.” It really felt elating.
“Yeah, I love that it’s just you and me. For now at least.” He smiles and takes my hand leading me further into the room while holding our bag in the other hand. I sat on the bed, placing my hands on both sides and swinging my legs back and forth as I watched Knight arrange our clothes in the wardrobe. We were to stay here for a few days.
While I watched Knight fix the clothes, I started missing him suddenly. Strange right? But I missed him sometimes even when he was there with me. I stood up from the bed and hugged him from behind. He tilted to get a glimpse of me then he let out the sweetest chuckle. It made my heart tickle.
“I miss the others but this is good….” I said placing my head on his back and inhaling his scent. “So damn good.” I whispered again.
“What about your friend? Is he aware of your arrival today?” Knight asked suddenly. He never spoke about letting Damian know. I just believed that he didn’t care but now he was asking.
“Forget about Damien, lets not ruin the mood.” I said and he turned to look at me. He was done fixing our clothes then closed the wardrobe.
“I agree.” He said pulling me back in for a hug. His tough hands grab my ass and he begins to squeeze them and at the same time he took my lips into his and began kissing me but just seconds later, my phone began to ring. We had tried to ignore it but it got to the point when I had to throw my phone on the bed but whoever it was, the person was persistent.
Knight hisses as he pulls away from the kiss. “It won’t stop ringing.”
“Just ignore it.” I stretched my words hating how he pulled out from the kiss. His lips curl into a brief smile but he tilts his head in the direction of my phone. I huff in disappointment then go to pick the call.
My shoulder drops seeing Damian’s name appear on the screen. I stared at it, letting it ring on.
“Youre not picking up.” Knight said, curiosity etched on his face.
“It’s Damian, just forget it.” I said and drop the phone again. I throw my hands around his neck and continue kissing him. He reciprocates my kiss but Damian just won’t give up. I should have switched off my phone instead.
“I think you should pick it up princess.” Knight said breaking the kiss again.
“Knight….”
“Don’t worry about me, I’m not getting jealous of a college student.” He said yet the displeasure on his face was too pronounced. I look at him one more time before picking the call reluctantly.
“Hey, hi…. Damian.” I said feeling a little awkward. I glance at Knight but he found something doing immediately so he didn’t have to listen to my conversation with Damian.
“Cassandra….” Damian called over the phone.
“Yes….”
“When are you coming back to school? It’s been weeks already without you. Do you need me to come pick you up? Would you just tell me when you’re returning?” Why the heck was Damian sounding like this. I already spoke to him about studying from home. Did he still take my words for a joke?
“I….” I pause and exhale deeply. “I…. Actually, I just arrived.” I bit my lip hard. It felt bitter telling the truth. I couldn’t bring myself to lie to him and for what reason? It would be disrespectful to Knight that I was hiding him from Damian.
“Are you for real Cassandra?” Damian seemed excited, he must have thought I was on about surprising him.
“I’m not kidding.” I said and laughed nervously.
“That’s great news.” His voice was indeed full of excitement then he paused for some seconds. “… but why didn’t you let me know that you were coming today?” I felt speechless by his question. How do I tell him I came with Knight?
“I thought I’d surprise you….” I found myself lying through my teeth. Damn your fucking lying mouth! I scolded myself within. I tried not to look at Knight, I didn’t want to see his reaction to what I had just said.
“Oh well, I love your surprise and now I can’t wait to see you but then I’m right outside your door and from all indication you’re not back.” He said and this time he sounded like he was suspicious of me. “You’re not kidding right? You’re on your way here right?” He kept asking but I decided to avoid his question.
” You went to my room?” I asked instead.
“Because I miss you…. A lot. I come here and sit whenever I miss you.” He said and my face shrinked.
“Um… Thats weird.” I say covering up my discomfort with a nervous laugh. I glance at Knight but he really did seem uninterested in what I was saying. That would seem so if I didn’t know him better. His entire attention was over here.
“It’s not something to laugh about Cassie….” Damian said not catching on the joke. His tone was a little too serious for me. “There’s something I’ve been meaning to tell you.”
That’s right, trigger my anxiety. I was worried that he was referring to finally coming out with how he felt about me. He had been dropping serious hints through the way he spoke to me over the phone, during chats and the way he looked at me during face-time.
“What’s that?” I asked however. I guess I was curious.
“Well, you’ll need to tell me why you’re kidding about being in school.”
“I’m not kidding Damian. I just got back, just not in my apartment. I’m at a hotel.” I said knowing more questions would arise from it.
“Give me your room number and the name of the hotel then.” He said surprising me. What the fuck was he planning? Come over here?
“I-I can’t.” I said glancing at Knight. I’m with my boyfriend.” I let the truth out and heard my heart beating against my ears. There was silence on Damian’s end.
“Damian?” I called when he still wasn’t speaking. I sigh sharply seeing Knight walking towards me.
“I don’t believe you’re dating him.” He said. He still didn’t believe me. I had told Damian over the phone the moment Knight and I started dating but he laughed it off as a joke. The times he joked and hinted about being romantically involved with me, I chipped in the fact that I had a boyfriend. I noticed it got him pissed off and that was when I realized he might really have feelings for me.
“I’m sorry Damian can we talk later?” I said and hung up without hearing another word from him. I look at Knight who was now standing before me. I knew what he was about to say.
“He went to your room?”
“It’s not a big deal, you don’t need to worry about that.” I defended.
“You know what I’m more worried about?” I stare at him having no answer to it. “The fact that you think it’s nothing to worry about.”
“Knight he has been my friend ….
“A friend who has feelings for you.” He said sounding frustrated.
“You can’t be so sure.”
“You’re smart cassandra and you suspect it. He doesn’t see you as a friend. He wants you.”
“I’ll talk to Damian and if that’s the case. I’ll tell him the hard truth.”
Knight sighs and his eyes softens, He pulls me in for a hug. “I’m not blaming you. It’s going to be hard loosing a friend after all these years.” He said being so sure. It worried me. I didn’t want to lose my friendship with Damian so I hoped in my heart that he was wrong.
