Thea
Angel goes to his office later in the day and takes me along with him. He was sitting on his office chair while I sat on his laps as he worked. I felt small being wrapped within his space but it was such an enjoyable feeling being held by him.
“I wanted to show you something.” He said displaying a list on the screen.
“The companies we own shares in.” He said and I got really interested. I had thought their only business was doing drugs.
“I don’t know much about business.”
“I can teach you.” He said dropping a kiss on my shoulder. Angel put me through his investments and I was left shocked by just how much money he had invested.
“Angel…. I think you’re way too rich than I can imagine.” I said still feeling shocked but he chuckles.
“You’re right pretty girl.” He says rubbing my chin with his thumb, his eyes melts mine when he stares for too long and I get the chill from being shy.
“You’re so cute when you act shy.” He said eying me seductively which makes me blush hard. A thought flashed through my mind and I feel a sting of sadness in me. Angel seemed to have noticed my mood change as his question followed next
“Is there something you want to say?” He asked. I thought of not saying what I had in mind but then there was no harm in doing so.
“Why then do you do drugs?” I blurted. It was a hard question to ask but I really wanted to know.
“Because I inherited it.” He simply said and I became even more curious.
“Is that the sole reason?”
“Mmhmm.” He hummed but I found it hard to believe.
“But…. Couldn’t you have refused?”
“Then leave it to cassandra? Someone had to continue her father’s legacy and I wasn’t going to let her innocence be tainted with this cruel world.” He explained and I realized the sacrifice he had made for the sake of his sister.
“Do you like it?”
“Being the head of a cartel? This mafia life?” I nod to his questions.
“I don’t hate it… at least I didn’t used to hate it. It used to be fun not giving a fuck. I mean, I still don’t give a fuck and will stain my hands with blood if need be.” He said and I felt uncomfortable which he noticed. He pulls me more into his embrace and smiles.
“But you’ve been breaking my walls ever since I fell in love with you.”
He said and navigated through the system.
“Soon I’ll introduce you to the business. We’ve been building our business getting ready.”
“Ready for what?”
“You think I want our kids to live the life I’ve lived? It’s a rough world my love. Our kids should live normal lives.” He said looking into my eyes.” I smile inwardly at the thought of having kids with him but then I thought about my mother, would she some day accept my relationship with him and would she love our kids?
“You want kids don’t you?” He says after seeing my hesitation.
“Angel….”
“Even if you don’t want kids I just want us to have normal lives.” He surprised me with his words. I knew he wanted kids but he cared about my wants that much to consider not having kids at all? I was touched.
“Are you going to quit this business?” He smiles at me revealing his answer through it. My mouth is wide agape. I couldn’t believe it.
“We’ve been slowly transitioning.”
“What! Really? I said excitedly. He drives his fingers behind my ear, carresing and pulling my hair aside.
“You, watch and see.” He said and I hugged him. I was so glad because as much as I loved and wanted to be with him, I didn’t want my kids growing up to see that their father was into drug dealing. I was happy that Angel was choosing a decent life from now on.
Once we were done at the office, we head towards my room but the aroma from the kitchen catches our nose.
“Is there something special going on that I don’t know about?” Angel said but I’m curious as well.
“I don’t know either.” It wasn’t even night yet if at all their was a preparation for dinner. We decide to go check it out and to our surprise, Florentine and Camila were the ones behind the sweet smell we perceived earlier. I could see small cakes and cookies which Florentine made while Camila was making juice from fresh fruits.
“Thea?” Camila called excitedly.
“What’s going on here?” Angel asks while Florentine smiles and looks in our direction.
“Well, since you guys wouldn’t celebrate, Camila and I decided to do a little thing on you guys behalf.”
“What exactly are we celebrating?” Angel asked moving further into the kitchen.
“The success of the operation.”
“Mike’s operation?” Angel said referring to Mike’s surgery.
“That included but generally speaking, I’m talking about the night of the operation.” Florentine said.
“We don’t know if it’s a success.” Angel countered.
“You said you shot sparrow a couple of times.”
“I don’t know if he’s alive.” He continued dragging it out but I wasn’t going to have the ladies efforts be in vain.
“Who cares if he’s alive or not my love? As for me, I choose to celebrate life. You all came back alive.”
“That should have been the theme instead.” Camila said.
“Okay, then we are celebrating life.” Florentine said in agreement.
“Are we allowed in here then?” I asked hoping we weren’t being a distraction.
Camila and Florentine look at each other and nod in agreement. I take a chair but Angel makes me sit on his laps instead. The moment some baked cookies were ready, Angel and I stole some of it.
We had not been helpful other than putting a show for them as we played love with each other.
However, during our time there, I had noticed a difference in Camila. It just dawned on me but Camila had been looking dull for a while now but I only observed it more clearly today.
“Good thing we are done. You should rest a little before joining us for the movie.” Florentine said to Camila which reinforced my believe that something was wrong with her. I was worried so I decided to speak with her since she was refusing to let Florentine run a test on her. I didn’t know Camila to be a stubborn one.
I attempt to tease her a little but mistakenly hit her breast in the process.
“Ouch!” She screams and I scoff giving her a sarcastic look. I did hit her but it was just a slight touch.
“I’m sorry but come on Camila, Caspian squeezes it harder. Since when did you become so dramatic sweetheart?” I said teasing her but she didn’t find it funny as the expression of pain was still on her face.
“I’m not kidding Thea, it was really painful.” She says confusing me.
“I didn’t hit it that hard.” I was still trying to figure out if she was just kidding or being serious.
“Still…. My breast feels so tender and heavy these days.” She says and I think about it coming to a conclusion.
“Uhh… Your period?
“Already saw it weeks ago.”
“Okay….”
“What?
“Nothing.” I said smiling nervously. I had a thought going through my mind but then I didn’t want to scare her. The symptom wasn’t enough to arrive at the conclusion I had in my head.
