It was the day of the operation, Cole and Angel had agreed on how to group their men for the operation. Angel had decided to leave Knight behind, his reason was that in case anything went wrong, he didn’t want Cassandra to lose the two men she loved the most. He would try his best to stay alive for Thea and as for Camila, he kept Caspian in charge of getting Natalia from Manuel’s place at the appointed time. The men did not expect such decision from Angel but he couldn’t protect all of them and he didn’t want to take any chances. He would never forgive himself should anything happen to any of them and he had to give the news to their lovers.
Some of Angel’s and Cole’s men were stationed at an intersection where sparrow had told Manuel to keep his own men so that the shipment could begin. Sparrow wouldn’t let Manuel know what warehouse or building he kept Angel’s goods. He was always so careful that Manual never suceeded even when he tried to trace them. While in position, Angel receives a call from Cole.
“Sparrow’s men are on the move.” Cole said having received the info from Manuel, whose men were part of those shipping the goods.
“Alright, we follow a few seconds after.” Angel said. Sparrow had moved with different vans, one that Manuel couldn’t track but when it was time to hand over, the goods would be going into the Van that Manuel provided. Manuel’s men were to be at the forefront should anything happen. Sparrow thought he was being wise by using Manuel’s men as the ones to be killed should anything go wrong. He had only tried to hide the location of his warehouse but never put much thought to the fact that Manuel would betray him.
“Manuel’s men are on the move with Sparrow’s goods.” Cole informed again letting Angel know that the handover of the goods had been done.
“My goods.” Angel corrected feeling offended.
“My bad… Pardon me.” Cole said but was trying to suppress his laughter. He had done that intentionally because he found it fun to do.
“We are in the middle of an operation you shouldn’t have time to joke ” Angel cautioned but Cole didn’t seem to care.
“Why not? If it were my last day then i wouldn’t have regrets.”
“I don’t have plans of breathing my last today so I’ll save the jokes for later. Keep me informed Cole and I’ll do the same.” Angel said and cut the call.
Manuel’s men drove with the goods in the new Van which Cole’s men were now able to track. They were going to their supplier whom Angel nor Cole had any idea about.
On their way, a phone call came in. Rico, one of Manuel’s men in charge of the Vans took the call.
“Yes….”
“It wouldn’t be so difficult to call me boss, would it?”
Sparrow joked over the phone knowing that Rico had always suspected him from the moment he reached out to Manuel for help.
“The only boss I serve is Don Manuel.” He said coldly and sparrow huffed deciding not to take the joke further. “I’m driving do you have something to say?”
“You guessed right.” Sparrow said. “I have new instructions.” Rico seemed to slow down hearing him say that. The mission was simple. Drop the goods to their buyers, it didnt need to be dramatic since they were going the normal route and Don Ricardo had secured a pass with the towns police department. They didn’t need to follow dangerous routes to avoid the police.
“My men will be waiting for you at the next stop, you are to transfer the goods to the next set of Vans. They will be in charge of taking the goods to the buyers from there.” He said and Rico frowned. He was the only one who knew that Manual was working with Angel and Cole. Manuel trusted him amongst his men.
“Is my boss aware of this?” He asked and sparrow could sense his reluctance to comply. It was suspicious just like he had thought before, which was why he wouldn’t let them know earlier that such change was to occur. He wanted to take them by surprise.
The new set of Vans couldn’t be tracked.
“Lets say your boss isn’t aware. Is that supposed to be a problem?”
Rico hesitated and eventually stopped the van while the other two behind him stopped as well.
“I can’t take instructions from you like this if my boss isn’t aware.”
Sparrow chuckled, his suspicion was growing by the second.
“I thought you’d be glad to know that you didn’t need to drive that far to supply the goods to our buyers.”
“I wasn’t complaining.”
“You know… You should stop sounding like that. It makes me suspicious.” Sparrow said and Rico became alert, knowing that raising any suspicion on sparrow’s side could spoil the plans.
“Get the goods exchanged once you arrive at the next stop.” Sparrow said and hung up.
Rico was frustrated so he put a call to his boss who in turn called Angel.
“Fucking bastard!” Angel cursed through gritted teeth.
“What do we do? If we exchange the goods as sparrow wants we’ll lose track of the vans and could potentially lose your goods.” Cole reminded.
Angel was thinking of every possible options right now. The information he had given to the DEA only informed them of the location sparrow would be meeting with the buyer and now if they should do as Sparrow wanted, it meant that the goods were to go to a different location which no one knew about.
Changing plans like this would only bring confusion and they couldn’t afford to have any major confusion.
“You’re not saying anything. I could ask my men to return the goods….”
“You’re forgetting that sparrow will know the second those Vans turn around. None of us were able to see through this plan of his. We don’t know what other tricks he has up his sleeve.” Angel said after analyzing the situation briefly.
“So what do we do. Shoukd I ask Manuel’s men to fight when it’s time for the exchange?”
Angel sighed, he didn’t want it to be this rough, not so early but that was the only option if he had to secure the goods.
Angel and Mike along with some of his men and Cole’s men where already at the location where the buyer was to receive the goods. Sparrow was supposed to be their as well since he needed to initiate the business by being there personally. The buyers wouldn’t accept a third party. Sparrow had really played safe choosing a different location.
“That’s the only option…..” Angel said but he wasn’t done. “If we do that, I’ll lose my chance at getting my revenge on Sparrow this night.”
“You could ambush him at Manuel’s place….”
“What makes you think Sparrow would be going back to Manuel’s place?”
There was silence on Cole’s end.
“Do you think, he’ll be staying at Don Ricardo’s place after tonight?” Cole asked breaking the silence.
“I cant say for sure but what I do know is that Sparrow doesn’t trust Manuel.”
It was obvious in his change of plans. The bastard wasn’t so stupid after all.
Angel had hung up on the call to think better about what decision to make. He knew Sparrow was already at the new location and he desperately needed to get his hands on him. He was certain that Sparrow had made plans should Manuel’s men resist. They would be outnumbered.
It was a case of being between the devil and the deep blue sea.
