Tom Fritz thought it was because he hadn’t provided her with security. He turned and walked towards his desk, opened a drawer, and took out an agreement. He then picked up a pen from the desk and walked back to her.
“Agnes, this is the agreement I drafted this afternoon about your willingness to fake an engagement with me. This is the compensation I could think of for you. See if there’s anything you want to add, you can write it down yourself.”
He handed her the agreement and the pen.
It seemed that if she helped him with this, he would agree to any condition.
The words “fake engagement” once again stung her heart. Even though it was fake, she was still very happy. How humble could one become when falling in love with someone? She was excellent too.
Agnes smiled and looked up at him.
“It’s up to you, I’ll listen to you.”
Their eyes met again, but she didn’t reach out to take the agreement from his hand. He was Mr. Kitten, and she was willing to do anything for him.
Although the girl was smiling, Tom still saw the mist in her eyes. He paused slightly and couldn’t help but worry, “You’re not happy, are you?” he asked, puzzled.
For a full five seconds, Agnes stared at him without blinking, a hint of sadness in her smile. But she was also very happy to finally see him.
“Can I hug you?” Agnes didn’t know what came over her; she couldn’t control herself from asking this somewhat impolite and inappropriate question.
Sure enough, Tom Fritz was stunned for a moment.
But he didn’t refuse. After thinking seriously for three seconds, Tom bent down and placed the agreement and pen on the sofa, then extended his hands towards her.
He cared for her like a sister.
The girl sitting on the sofa was very moved. She looked up at his deep gaze for a long time, remembering his gentle appearance at this moment.
Then her nose tingled slightly as she got up and gently leaned into his arms. She stood on tiptoe carefully and wrapped her arms around his neck.
Warmth flowed through the girl’s heart; she felt this moment was as beautiful as a dream.
Tom’s heart was slightly touched. He gentlemanly reached out and hugged this kind-hearted girl who had a similar aura to his own.
He could more or less sense that her mood was different at this moment, but he didn’t know how to comfort her.
He didn’t ask what was wrong either; he just quietly held her in his study, in his private space… silently embracing her.
The night was so quiet.
Agnes closed her eyes, feeling this rare moment of beauty with all her heart, feeling his body warmth, feeling the temperature of his embrace.
She didn’t dare hold him too tightly and was very polite about it.
And Tom didn’t push her away… just letting her hold him like that.
When Agnes realized she shouldn’t overstep too much, she tried reluctantly to let go of him gently.
Tom turned slightly; their cheeks brushed against each other lightly. She paused for a moment; at that instant, she could clearly feel the smoothness of his facial skin, warm and soft.
For three seconds, their faces stayed close… it felt like the whole world had gone silent at that moment.
Then she gently moved her face away while he remained still. Agnes didn’t know why but couldn’t help herself from lightly kissing his lips.
This action also stunned Tom.
Their lips touched lightly… at that moment, her mind went blank; she felt numbness in her head.
Tom was completely stunned too. His hands were still holding her back when he instinctively wanted to respond to the kiss. The girl suddenly seemed to wake up; she let go of his neck and ended the kiss.
Tom also let go of her accordingly. They stood facing each other with their eyes meeting again.
Soon after, a knock on the door broke the silence before either could feel awkward. Both turned their heads towards the closed door simultaneously.
A maid’s voice came from outside quickly, “Young Master, Miss Agnes’ change of clothes is ready. Where should I put them?”
