“Jennifer, this city is so large. Back then, were all the people in the city from the Demonic Clan?”
On the way, Soul Chaser pointed to the city below and asked.
“Of course not!” Jennifer shook her head in response.
“Although this city was called Demonic City back then, the Demonic Clan only resided in the City Lord’s Mansion. Even when both direct and collateral members were included, there were only about a hundred thousand people.”
“It is quite a lot!” Vermilion Bird replied.
“You haven’t seen a truly large clan. A hundred thousand people is only considered a medium-sized clan!” Jennifer continued, “It’s said that in the eighth-tier star domain, the truly large clans have nearly a million people!”
“Alright then!” Vermilion Bird and the others slightly twitched their mouths.
After a while, Jennifer led Billy and the group to land in front of a large ruin in the center of the city. From the remnants, it was clear that this used to be a palace complex.
“Jennifer, this should be where the City Lord’s Mansion was, right?” Harleen asked.
“Yes!” Jennifer nodded, her face showing complex feelings as her thoughts wandered.
After a moment, she collected herself, exhaled deeply, and said, “Let’s go!”
With that, she raised her hand and struck the ground ahead with her palm.
With a loud noise, the ground collapsed, revealing a spiral stone staircase leading underground.
She then led everyone down the stone steps.
The staircase was much deeper than Billy and the others had anticipated. They estimated they had descended at least several hundred meters before reaching the bottom.
Looking around, they found themselves in a space that resembled a palace in its decoration-carved beams and painted rafters, resplendent with gold and jade. However, due to its age, many parts had begun to peel off.
“Jennifer, is this the forbidden area of the Demonic Clan?” Stout asked after scanning his surroundings with eyes that seemed to be searching for treasure.
“No!” Jennifer shook her head. “But to reach the forbidden area, this is the only way.”
As she spoke, she walked to a wall where there was an object resembling a bronze mirror with a diameter of about four or five meters.
Jennifer then raised her hand to form an intricate seal and sent it towards the bronze mirror.
In the next moment, a strong aura emanated from the mirror, and a passage appeared within it, rippling like water.
“Let’s go. This is the teleportation passage to the forbidden area,” Jennifer said before stepping into the passage first. Billy and the others followed closely behind.
After an unknown amount of time, they emerged from the teleportation passage into an area with dim light and a faint mist in the air, reducing visibility to about two or three kilometers. The entire space was filled with a dense, eerie atmosphere.
Within their line of sight were tombs built from stone slabs, and nothing else.
“This is the forbidden area of the Demonic Clan?” Ian Blade asked after looking around.
Before Ian Blade’s words had fully left his mouth, an extremely cold aura swept towards them, causing the temperature to drop by several degrees instantly. Judge and the others couldn’t help but shiver.
From this aura alone, it was clear that whoever had attacked was at least in the late stage of the Supreme Source Realm.
“Be careful!” Jennifer shouted as she took two large steps forward and formed a seal with her hand to meet the incoming force.
With a loud bang, Jennifer was sent flying a thousand meters away, spitting out a mouthful of blood.
Immediately after, a ghostly figure flashed towards them, enveloping them in a powerful oppressive aura.
“Shadow One, stop!” Jennifer shouted at this moment.
“Hmm?” A surprised voice came from ahead, and an old man in black robes stopped in his tracks.
He looked at Jennifer and asked in a deep voice, “Who are you? How do you know the code name Shadow One?”
“I not only know your code name but also your real name-Jamal Clarke!” Jennifer wiped the blood from her mouth and responded.
“Hmm?!” The old man’s pupils contracted slightly. “Who exactly are you?”
Knowing the code name Shadow One wasn’t enough to shock him too much. After all, although the Shadow Demon Squad of the Demonic Clan was very mysterious back then, some outsiders had heard of it.
But for Jennifer to know his real name was extraordinary. Only a few core members of the Demonic Clan knew that information.
“Mr. Billy, give me the token I gave you!” Jennifer looked at Billy and said.
“Okay!” Billy took out The Shadow Decree from his storage ring.
Jennifer took The Shadow Decree, dripped a drop of blood on it, and then sent it towards Jamal Clarke with a wave of her hand.
“How is this possible?” Jamal Clarke exclaimed after examining the token.
He then looked up at Jennifer and asked in a trembling voice, “You… are you the young lady?”
“Shadow One, long time no see!” Jennifer smiled faintly.
Thud!
Jamal Clarke no longer had any doubts and knelt down immediately. “Shadow One pays respects to the young lady!”
As the former leader of the Shadow Demon Squad, he knew very well that while the Shadow Decree could be forged, there was no way to fake its blood recognition feature!
“We’re family; there’s no need for such formalities. Stand up!” Jennifer raised her hand slightly.
“Thank… thank you, young lady!” Jamal Clarke stood up and looked at Jennifer before asking again, “Young lady, why does your appearance look different?”
Although Jennifer’s appearance had recovered significantly, it was still far from what it used to be. It made sense that he didn’t recognize her immediately.
“It’s an aftereffect from back then,” Jennifer paused briefly before spending a few minutes explaining everything to Jamal Clarke.
“It’s good that you’re safe!” Jamal Clarke couldn’t hide his excitement.
Jennifer then introduced Billy and his group to Jamal Clarke.
“So you are Mr. Billy. I’ve heard much about you; it’s an honor to meet you!” Jamal Clarke said to Billy.
“Sir, you’re too kind!” Billy responded with a smile.
“Sir, even you’ve heard of our boss’s name?” Judge couldn’t help but ask.
“Why wouldn’t I have?” Jamal Clarke replied with a question of his own.
“I didn’t mean it that way,” Judge continued. “I just thought you stayed here all the time…”
“Who told you I stay here all the time?” Jamal Clarke interrupted him with a smile.
After speaking, he turned to Jennifer again. “Young lady, are Master and Elder still in The Wilderness?”
“They should have reached Skyreach City by now. However, our clan members will have to arrive in batches,” Jennifer replied.
“I understand,” Jamal Clarke nodded. “Young lady, why have you returned this time?”
“I’m here to take Mr. Billy and his group to Demon Wall,” Jennifer responded.
“Demon Wall?” Jamal Clarke was taken aback. “Are you planning for Mr. Billy and his group to comprehend ‘Demonic Tribulation’?”
“Yes,” Jennifer nodded. “If he can comprehend it, you won’t have to guard this place anymore.”
“I understand,” Jamal Clarke replied before leading everyone forward.
The space was vast; they walked for forty or fifty kilometers before reaching their destination.
Billy and his group saw a wall several hundred meters away!
But this wasn’t an ordinary wall; it resembled the cosmic barrier they had seen in Silent Ruins Sky Realm-partly real and partly illusory.
The wall was quite large, about a hundred meters high and at least four or five hundred meters wide. Its surface rippled slightly but showed nothing else.
“Ma’am, there’s nothing on this wall!” Judge asked Jennifer.
“It’s enchanted with formations,” Jamal Clarke responded as he raised his hand to form two seals and sent them towards the wall.
