The voice on the other end was cold.
“Chris, if you want your mother-in-law to live, you’d better listen to me! Come alone to Crow’s Nest Pass in the Middleton suburbs in half an hour. Remember, you must come alone! If you break the rules, I’ll kill your mother-in-law!”
With that, the call was abruptly cut off.
Chris frowned after hanging up. Crow’s Nest Pass? Wasn’t that where he had raced against Blake Noire last time? Could it be that Blake Noire was behind Susan’s kidnapping?
Esther asked anxiously, “Dear, what did they say?”
Chris replied, “They told me to go to a place. Don’t worry, I’ve already had Bull mobilize everyone at East Coast Securities to look for your mom. I believe she’ll be safe.”
Esther, looking worried, said, “Dear, it seems they kidnapped my mom because of you. Shouldn’t you take more people with you?”
Chris shook his head.
“No, I should go alone. If I bring others, I fear they might panic and actually kill your mom.”
Esther nodded.
“Okay! Just be careful.”
Chris didn’t say much and left. He drove off in a Porsche, the engine roaring.
On the road, Chris called Tiger.
“Tiger, ensure Esther’s safety with all your might!”
After receiving Chris’s call, Tiger personally took charge of Esther’s protection.
Meanwhile, Lynx made a call.
“Boss, I’ve located the exact position of the person who called you.”
Upon hearing this, Chris was stirred. Lynx, being the head of the Springfield Crew, was unlikely to be mistaken.
Half an hour later, Chris arrived at Crow’s Nest Pass. He parked the car and looked around. The place was deserted.
Chris yelled, “I’m here! Where are you guys?”
The mountains were utterly silent, not even a shadow in sight. However, Chris felt a dangerous presence.
“If you won’t come out to meet me, then I’m leaving!”
he declared, preparing to leave.
Suddenly, whoosh! Whoosh! Whoosh!
In an instant, figures clad in black, their faces covered with black bandanas, surged from all directions.
These attackers swiftly launched at Chris.
“Hmph!”
Chris snorted coldly and charged forward.
Bang! Bang! Bang!
A series of loud impacts followed as the attackers were knocked down one by one by Chris.
“Scoff, to think these chickens and dogs could take me down, you’re underestimating me!”
Chris scoffed.
Whoosh! Whoosh! Whoosh!
As his voice fell, more swishing sounds filled the air. This time, even more attackers appeared-at least a thousand. Each one armed with a sharp military saber.
Without any further words, they launched a ferocious attack on Chris.
Chris roared and charged again.
Soon, both sides were locked in intense combat.
“Ah!”
“Ah!”
“Ah!”
Cries of agony echoed as each attacker was sent flying by Chris’s punches, only to fall heavily to the ground, lifeless.
Chris sneered, “They’re just trash, not interesting at all! If this is all they have, dreaming of killing me is just that-a dream!”
Whoosh! Whoosh! Whoosh! As the voice faded, shadows darted towards them rapidly. This time, there were only about a hundred men in black. Yet, each emitted a powerful aura of lethal intent, all of them masters of the Transcendence realm. Simultaneously, Daniel Williams stepped forward, accompanied by an old monk in Taoist robes.
Daniel looked at Chris, gritting his teeth, “Chris, you really are formidable! These are all experts I’ve trained, but they’re nothing in front of you. It seems I have to kill you, or sooner or later you’ll become a major threat to me!”
Seeing Daniel, Chris’s face turned extremely grave. He had never expected Daniel Williams to be the one luring him here. Chris responded coldly, “Daniel Williams, cut the nonsense. Tell me, did you kidnap my mother-in-law?”
Daniel scoffed, “Chris, you think I would tell you? However, I can tell you that I did not kidnap your mother-in-law. If you want to know her whereabouts, you should ask Lysander Frost. Sadly, you won’t have that chance, because today you are definitely going to die!”
Chris frowned at this. He hadn’t expected Daniel to be in collusion with Lysander Frost. It seemed the whole situation was a plot.
Without further ado, Daniel turned to the old monk beside him, “Abbot Ethan, please take action and kill Chris!”
Ethan Stone nodded, then stepped forward.
“Abbot Ethan? Ethan Stone!”
Chris’s eyes narrowed. He knew of Ethan’s prowess, a master comparable to his own mentor!
Chris hadn’t anticipated Ethan Stone’s collusion with Daniel Williams. It appeared that tonight, Daniel was determined to kill him. Instead of confronting Ethan directly, Chris turned to flee.
Ethan sneered, “Trying to escape? I’m afraid it won’t be so easy!”
As his voice dropped, a hundred Transcendence realm masters rushed out to block Chris’s path.
“Get out of my way!”
Chris roared, throwing a punch that instantly killed a Transcendence realm master.
“Chris, die!”
At that moment, Ethan charged towards Chris.
True to his title of Amerosia Abbot, Ethan’s attack was tremendously powerful. Chris didn’t hesitate, turning around to throw a fierce punch at Ethan. Boom! A thunderous noise echoed as their fists collided, sending Chris flying back, blood trickling from the corner of his mouth.
Seeing this, Ethan sneered, “Chris, today is your day to die!”
He prepared to attack Chris again. Suddenly, Chris shouted, “Has it come to this, and you still won’t come out?”
Chris’s voice boomed across the mountaintop. Ethan paused, then mockingly said, “Chris, do you still hope to bluff at this point?” He was about to advance on Chris again when suddenly, shadows converged from all directions.
Faces masked in red, these were the Emberwood Estate’s Emberwood Guards! Seeing them, a smile appeared on Chris’s lips. Knowing the risks, how could Chris have possibly come alone? Archer Wintersong had once told him that these guards would always ensure his safety, and it seemed he was right.
