If her beloved grandson was unhappy, even if he was engaged, he wouldn’t be able to work peacefully in the lab. If he got distracted and had an avoidable accident, it would be truly regrettable. The Fritz family was not foolish.
After Mrs. Fritz went upstairs, she came to Lisa’s room with a heavy heart. She hesitated for a moment before knocking on the door, guessing that Lisa should be inside. This girl was excellent; it was such a pity.
Upon hearing the knock, it didn’t take long for the girl, who had changed out of her red evening dress, to open the door.
“Grandma.”
She was still beautiful, but there was a hint of melancholy on her face, and she couldn’t muster any excitement upon seeing the elderly woman.
“Lisa,” Mrs. Fritz called her name tenderly, “May I come in and sit for a while?” It seemed she had something to say.
The girl immediately perked up, hiding all her disappointment, and opened the door with a smile.
“Please come in, Grandma.”
After entering the room, the elderly woman closed the door as if she had something confidential to discuss.
“Lisa, Grandma feels very sorry. You must be feeling quite upset tonight,” she sighed softly and lovingly patted Lisa’s shoulder.
“It’s my fault. I didn’t communicate well with Tom. I always thought he was single.”
“Grandma, maybe he really is single,” Lisa smiled.
The elderly woman didn’t quite understand what she meant by that.
“Oh?” She looked at her with a hint of confusion.
Lisa seized this opportunity and put on a pitiful expression.
“Grandma, there’s something I’m not sure if I should say.”
Hearing this, the elderly woman focused her attention on her.
“Go ahead. Is there anything you can’t say in front of Grandma?”
So Lisa thought for a moment and then told Grandma about the conversation she had overheard Agnes having on the phone in the yard.
Her conclusion was-
“Grandma, Agnes probably has a boyfriend, but it’s not Tom,” Lisa analyzed softly with a hint of certainty in her tone.
“When I caught her off guard, she seemed quite guilty and couldn’t explain herself.”
The elderly woman was very surprised by this and felt a heavy thud in her heart. Could such a thing be true?
Seeing that Grandma’s emotions were stirred and that her message had taken effect, Lisa kept a calm face but felt delighted inside.
She observed Grandma’s expression… understanding her thoughts.
“Grandma, I don’t really know the exact situation,” she began to distance herself from the matter, pursing her lips with an innocent look on her face.
“I just overheard it by chance and made a judgment based on a woman’s intuition. When I asked her about it at the time, she couldn’t answer at all. Tom came over to cover for her.”
To be honest, after hearing this, the elderly woman’s mind began to waver again. Where did things go wrong? She started reanalyzing the situation.
Could it be that Agnes was really just someone Tom brought back to deceive everyone?
If he had a girlfriend, why didn’t he bring her back earlier? That was a point of suspicion.
It made sense that his grandmother living abroad wouldn’t know about it, but his parents living in Arkpool City should have known, right?
Strangely enough, his parents didn’t know either.
Seeing that the elderly woman had entered another round of contemplation, Lisa felt that she had achieved her goal and felt somewhat relieved after being downhearted for so long.
Maybe there was still hope for things to turn around.
“I understand,” Grandma nodded.
“Lisa, thank you for telling me this.”
Then she took a deep breath.
“Lisa dear, you should rest early; you’ve been on a long flight today and must be tired.”
“Okay, good night Grandma,” Lisa said sweetly. She very much wanted to marry into this family.
The elderly woman gave her a heavy look before turning and stepping out of the room.
