Special Chapter

Book:The King's Mate Published:2024-11-12

POV: Queen Tamara Pierce
Life is not always fair, beautiful, and perfect like the moon, which is never full all the time. It has its own phase, and it must go through it until it finally serves its purpose. No matter how dark the night was during the new moon, it would be more fulfilling to see the full moon, finally gracing its luminescence in the dark night sky.
Tamara only wanted to discover her identity, her real roots who was she?
However, fate had a different plan for her showing her what she was destined to be.
“Mom! Thanatos is making annoying antics again!” Her daughter, Styx, pouted as she grumpily sat on the single couch in the library before she crossed her arms.
Her forehead creased as she was about to answer her when the door suddenly burst wide open, and Thanatos entered the room with his grim expression.
He gave his twin sister a warning glare, but he didn’t say a word.
Seven years had passed but until now, she still couldn’t believe that she had been given another chance to live and witness her children grow.
It would always be a miracle according to Tamika, but she was more grateful to the Mood Goddess for giving her the chance to live and spend it with her loved ones.
“What happened again this time?” She acted like it wasn’t bothering her and that she was ready to spit fire at any second because of her two children’s banter but deep inside her, she was truly amused by them.
Thanatos was always too protective of his twin sister, Styx, while the latter just did what she wanted despite her twin brother’s protest. She couldn’t believe that they had grown so fast.
Styx grunted as she rolled her eyes.
“I just want to try shifting. You are just so killjoy, Thanatos.” Styx commented with a hint of irritation in her voice.
Thanatos pursed his lips together. He might start to get annoyed by his little sister’s voice. And before it happened, she needed to get in between them now.
“Aren’t you supposed to be cheering each other to shift better?” Her left brow shot upwards as she put down her book.
This time, she wore her expressionless face causing Styx to shut up and Thanatos to bow his head.
The two might have been spoiled to her, but they both knew that she wouldn’t tolerate their bad behavior especially treating each other badly.
She had longed for a sister in her life, and when she had finally had it, fate had taken her away from her.
Now, she didn’t want that to happen to her children. She wanted them to realize that fighting with each other wouldn’t do them any good.
“I’m sorry, Mom. I just hate it when Styx tries to get too friendly with Damon.” Thanatos shot his sister a serious and dark glare.
Styx just rolled her eyes at her brother as her brows twitched as she tried to hide her amusement.
She was about to say something when Hades suddenly surprised her from behind and kissed her cheeks. He could have used the secret passage once more.
Tamara grunted.
“You are trying to be sneaky again.” She commented as she heard Styx shriek before Hades could even explain himself.
“Daddy!” She excitedly called her father.
Thanatos let out a small smile as he went towards his father, too.
She couldn’t hide her smile anymore.
Watching her family smiling and having nothing to worry about was just too fulfilling for her. She couldn’t deny the fact that it was the one that she had been picturing all her life.
“Hey, Princess.” Hades said as he planted a soft kiss on his daughter’s head.
“Hey, kiddo.” He kissed Thanatos on the cheek, causing the latter to grumble in annoyance.
Styx was certainly a childish and spoiled girl especially to her father. Thanatos, on the other hand, was simply a silent kid who was more like his father.
They were complete opposites, but they truly got along well.
Nonetheless, she could say that not today.
“Dad, she is with Damon, again.” Thanatos instantly told Hades causing her husband to clench his jaw.
She bit her lower lip as she stared at Hades’ annoyed face.
He hated the fact that their daughter was always fond of playing with Damon Dreyson’s son instead of her circle of friends like Lianna and Storm.
Lianna was Damon’s little sister, while Storm was her cousin Raven’s daughter.
“Princess, what did I tell you? Stop playing with Damon. You are still too young. Be with your brother or with Lianna or your cousin, Storm, instead.” Hades darkly suggested.
However, Styx just shook her head.
“Why, Dad? Can’t I play with Damon instead? He’s fun to be with, and he always turns red whenever I smile at him. He’s cute!” Styx smilingly commented making her two boys’ foreheads’ crease.
She saw Hades clench his jaw as if he was trying to calm his nerves.
They seemed like they didn’t like what they heard. She mentally chuckled.
Hades seemed so problematic as he took a glance at her asking for help. She wanted to laugh at his reaction, but she knew that it wasn’t a good time for that.
She let out a deep sigh.
“Styx, Thanatos, come here.” She seriously called them.
The two simply sat beside her Styx on her right, and Thanatos on her left. She combed their hair as she cast a quick glance at Hades, asking him to close his mouth for whatever she had to say.
He heaved an inaudible sigh.
That was one of the things that she loved about her husband. He knew how to compromise and gave her the time to speak to their children.
“Styx, you must remember that you must learn to shift at your level and with your circle, right?” She softly reminded her.
Styx heaved a deep sigh as she nodded her head in agreement.
“Yes, Mom.” She defeatedly replied.
“Just do it for now, sweetie. When you grow older, you will realize that it is for your own good. And Thanatos…” She called her son who was eyeing her with his serious pitch-black eyes.
“Don’t be easily annoyed with your sister. Extend your patience with her, okay?” She softly said, and Thanatos just nodded his head.
“Yes, Mom.” Thanatos gently responded.
They both apologized to each other before rummaging through the entire library.
A warm embrace suddenly enveloped her her husband gave her a swift peck on the lips.
“I didn’t know what to do with them if you aren’t here.” He softly whispered.
She smiled sweetly at him.
“Why? Are they more complicated than being a King?” She teasingly stated.
Hades just tsked.
“Far more complicated. And they are growing too fast.” He seriously commented as they watched their son going towards his sister and was telling her his apology.
At first, Styx was trying to evade her brother, but soon, she finally nodded her head and smiled brightly at him.
They both looked at the books on the shelves. She couldn’t help but smile at them.
“Styx inherited from you.” Hades commented.
“And Thanatos had you.” She tried to counterpart.
They both chuckled at their own comments.
“But remind me to castigate that Damon kid. I don’t want him near our daughter.” He suddenly said with his gritting teeth.
Tamara rolled her eyes.
“Stop it. He’s just a kid like our daughter.” She seriously reminded him.
However, she knew better.
Hades would undoubtedly find his way to the poor kid. And she must prepare for that. Well, she couldn’t blame him for being overprotective of their daughter, anyway. However, he must learn how to control himself.
Damon is just an eight, for goodness’ sake!
She mentally shook her head.
“By the way, how’s Raven?” She suddenly asked.
Tamara couldn’t wish for anything anymore. Her family was happy and contented. The palace was at peace, and everything seemed to be fine.
She was just hoping that everyone around them could finally be happy like them.
Hades let out a deep sigh this time he seemed serious and problematic.
“I don’t know, but I believe he had some plans this time.” He seriously stated as he gave her a knowing look.
Whatever was happening to Raven, she was just hoping for the best for him.
They suddenly fell into a comforting silence. Hades was hugging her as they were looking at their children who were busy playing and reading books.
“Wife…” Hades gently called her, all of a sudden.
Although she already knew that tone of his something inside her stomach tickled. She bit her lower lip as he started drawing circles at her waist.
Her breathing hitched as her eyes turned to a lighter shade.
“H-Hades… the k-kids…” She lowly whispered trying to stifle the desire that was slowly resurfacing in her system.
“Your parents will be here any minute now.” He cockily told her causing her forehead to crease.
Before she could even say a word her parents arrived to get Thanatos and Styx.
“We just missed them so much, so we will bond with them today, Tamara. I hope you don’t mind.” Her mother, Rania, told her with her gleaming hopeful face.
She had no other choice but to allow them as she shot Hades a knowing glare the moment the kids and her parents were out of the palace.
He just chuckled as he pulled her closer for a hug.
“Come on, let’s go to our room, wife. I just missed you so much.” He sensually said.
“You really planned this, huh?” She accusingly told him he just shrugged and gave her an innocent look.
One thing that Hades learned to do whenever he was with her.
“Aren’t you tired of what happened last night?” She amusedly inquired as they walked hand in hand towards their room.
Hades just gave her a devilish smile before he pulled her closer to him, shutting the door close behind her and gently pushing her towards the closed door.
“I would forever be insatiable when it comes to you, wife. I will always want to have you always.” Hades whispered as he gazed lovingly at her, their faces only inches apart.
“I love you…” She softly confessed.
His eyes flickered with happiness, love, and desire making it dark gray instead.
“And I will forever love you, wife…” Hades replied before finally claiming her lips tasting every corner of it.
She moaned in pleasure as they danced to the rhythm of their bodies’ carnal desire.
Life wouldn’t always be perfect for them. Obstacles might come in their way.
But happiness and love would forever be embroidered inside their hearts, and it would always help them to make it through no matter what.
