Chapter 92
POV: Leah Darkwood
Her face turned paperwhite the moment she saw who had just called her name. She had never seen him as furious as this.
She felt the hair at the back of her neck stand up as she stood still.
“W-What are you doing here?! Stop!” She stammered as she tried to stop Aeron from walking towards her.
“Stop doing such a stupid thing, Leah!” Aeron angrily snapped at her.
Her mouth went agape as she watched Aeron take the knife from her hands and throw it away. She watched him as he panicked, watching Tamara’s condition in front of him. Her blood instantly boiled.
“What the f*ck are you doing?!” She equaled the same ferocity that her younger brother had, but he seemed like he was more engrossed in how to free Tamara from the silver chains regardless of whether he got burned from it.
Leah furiously pulled his arm as she stopped him from untying the chain.
“What the hell, Aeron?!” She angrily spat as an absurd idea had crossed her mind.
No.
She wouldn’t accept that fact. She wouldn’t want to hear any of it not from her brother’s mouth. Her eyes welled up because of the tears that were trying to escape from her eyes.
“Leah… please…” Aeron’s voice softened when he saw her devastated state.
Leah swallowed hard trying to stifle her own sobs.
“W-What?! I know what I am doing, Aeron. Stop doing this. I know you are just worried about me doing this, but… I can do it. I can manage myself.” She tried to convince herself that her brother was there for her and not for Tamara.
But the way he looked at her she knew.
And it was making her more devastated.
“The f*ck?! What? Just go and let me finish her now!” She maddeningly yelled, but Aeron remained standing in front of her.
He let out a deep sigh.
Leah gritted her teeth in pure annoyance.
“What are you trying to do now, Aeron? Stop being so stubborn and let me do what I need to do!” She frustratedly shouted.
But her heart clenched in agony as he slowly shook his head his eyes filled with grief and pain.
“I’m s-sorry but I can’t, Leah.” He muttered lowly, forcing her to confirm that his brother was-
She pursed her lips together as she felt the pain and betrayal lingering in her system. She turned around as she harshly ran her fingers through her hair and furiously stomped her feet.
Her tears started to fall down from her cheeks.
Aeron was taken aback as he witnessed her break down in front of him.
Yes.
She just broke down.
After a long time, she had been this strongest female werewolf from the Dark Wood Pack. But now, she had let herself be vulnerable.
“H-How could you?!” She snapped at him full of pain and unadulterated betrayal reflecting in her voice and face.
“D-Do you like her?!” She finally had the courage to ask.
She might have hugged her younger brother tight as he instantly shook his head but the words, he just said had just made her heart ripped down into pieces.
“I love her, Leah.” He soulfully whispered.
“So, please, spare her.” Aeron pleadingly told her.
She gritted her teeth as she firmly closed her eyes trying to calm her nerves.
“No!” Leah stubbornly declared.
Aeron groaned in frustration, but Leah just shot her a deadly glare.
“How could you do this to me?! You, of all people, knew about my dreams, about everything that I’ve been through. And yet…” Leah unbelievably shook her head.
“You love that slut?!” She angrily yelled as a lone tear escaped from her eye.
“Of all people, why her?! Why is it that it was always her?! The love of my life and now my brother?! What the f*ck!” She furiously growled as she felt her inner wolf slowly taking over her.
“I will kill her!” She angrily shouted as she groaned and turned into her wolf form.
She sneered as Aeron shook his head.
“No, Leah. I will protect her even if it means that I have to fight with you.” Aeron’s absolute decision with his firm voice resonated in Leah’s sensitive ears causing her to attack his own brother.
Aeron growled in pain as she dug her claws into his arms and scratched them down. Blood started to drip from his wound.
Leah growled asking him to stop being so hardheaded and step aside, but Aeron was as stubborn as she was.
But before Leah could attack her own brother, her eyes drifted to where Tamara was supposed to be tied but she was nowhere to be find.
Leah roared in frustration and anger as she tried to sniff her scent in the air.
“Leah, please, leave her alone!” Aeron’s voice called her, but she didn’t really care.
Her mind was already clouded with too much anger and agony. She would make sure to end everything right here and right now.
She sneered as she saw Tamara’s blood in the dried leaves and her frail body lying near the huge and bulky root of a massive tree.
“L-Leah…. P-Please…” She weakly whispered.
But she just didn’t care. She was about to attack her when a dark brown-haired wolf pushed her into the ground. She growled in pain.
It was Aeron in his wolf form trying to protect Tamara from her.
Leah sniggered at him letting her bared canines show. But Aeron did the same trying to stop her sister’s foolish acts.
But Leah attacked him once again, and this time Aeron whimpered in pain. Leah let out a loud growl stopping Aeron from fighting anymore.
However, her younger brother was as foolish and hardheaded as her. He was limping as he stood up in front of Tamara who was on the verge of death.
She, once again, attacked Aeron and pushed him to the ground. She had come face-to-face with Tamara, but Aeron stood up and tried to attack her when she had already seen his attack and pushed him forcibly into a huge tree using her entire strength.
Now, she had finally faced Tamara, but she had whispered something calling her brother’s name.
She instantly turned around to look at her brother who was now in his human form and coughing with blood.
Her eyes widened as she instantly ran towards him and jumped into her human form.
“N-No… A-Aeron…” She called her, using her devastated voice.
She looked at him only to find out that there was a huge sharp branch of a tree that had pierced through his chest.
Aeron looked at her with a small smile on his face while blood flowed at the corner of his lips.
“P-Please, Leah… Spare h-her…” He lowly whispered.
Her heart clenched at her brother’s words. Her tears fell endlessly from her eyes.
“R-Remember the only w-woman I ever d-dreamed of?” He painfully muttered.
Leah shook her head.
“No, A-Aeron. Stop s-saying anything anymore, please. L-Let’s go b-back to Mom and D-Dad. Please…” Leah brokenly told him, but Aeron firmly held her arm.
“S-She is T-Tamara… I h-have loved her l-long ago. E-Even when she’s declared to be the S-Sacred E-Emissary… I t-tried my l-luck to protect her… but I a-always f-fail. L-Let me p-protect her t-this time, L-Leah…” Aeron weakly pleaded as he coughed more blood from his mouth.
Leah stubbornly shook her head.
“So, p-please… j-just this once… l-let me p-protect h-her…” Aeron begged in her arms, but she just wailed in front of him.
“N-No! Don’t say that!” Leah painfully cried.
Aeron let out a low chuckle as he watched her with too much adoration in her eyes.
“I… I am a-always c-counting on y-you, my d-dear s-sister. T-Thank you f-for e-everything.” He finally said as he slowly closed his eyes leaving her with the utmost heartbreak in the midst of the woods.
“N-No… No! No! A-Aeron… No, Aeron! Wake up… Please! Please w-wake up, brother! P-Please…” She gruffly called him as she tried to wake him up, but he didn’t give her any response.
She wailed in pain as her inner wolf was trying to take over her. Her grey rounded eyes turned pitch-black with the veins around it turned bloodshot red.
Leah stood up and faced Tamara with pain and immense fury reflected in her eyes.
“This is all your fault!” She angrily yelled.
She saw how Tamara covered her stomach with her hands and arms shielding the baby inside her. Leah viciously smirked at her.
When she was thrown to the massive tree, her inner wolf took over and she jumped to attack her. She coughed in blood as she held her throbbing stomach. Three large wounds from the sharp claws of the King had given her a fatal blow.
She slowly turned into her inner form as she couldn’t contain her wolf form anymore.
“W-Wife! Are you okay?!”
She smiled bitterly as she watched her love tend to the one, she loathed the most the very same woman he had ever loved.
He didn’t even give her even a quick glance. He instantly carried her in a bridal style very worried and horrified.
A lone tear escaped from her eyes as Kage walked slowly towards where she was lying.
“L-Leah…” He worriedly called her name.
At least, before she left this world, she still had the chance to see the King for the last time. At least, she had fight for her love.
She finally had no regrets.
She could be with her brother now.
She could finally be free from the pain, the agony, the dejection, that kept on caging her since the day she was born.
