Chapter 63
POV: Queen Tamara
She has already been discharged from the infirmary. Despite of her parents’ worry, she decided to go back to the palace.
Tamara couldn’t seem to notice that Hades didn’t visit her after talking to his brother in the infirmary. She felt slightly annoyed that he seemed like he didn’t care what happened to her, but then she remembered that she wasn’t in the position to demand anything from him.
She let out a deep sigh as she followed Arlan towards the hallway.
“By the way, where is the King?” She suddenly blurted out as she opened their room and found out that Hades wasn’t in there.
“Uhm, the King is in the Throne room, Your Grace.” Arlan politely replied.
Tamara nodded her head as she stared at him.
“I need to see him.” She plainly said and walked her way towards where the King was.
She didn’t see how Arlan looked terrified by what she said. And when he finally got a hold of himself, he instantly blocked her way making Tamara’s brows furrowed and her eyes narrowed annoyingly at him.
Arlan swallowed hard with nervousness and worry.
“Your Grace, you still need to rest.” He reminded her, but she wasn’t convinced that it was the real reason.
“Just tell me the truth, Arlan. Are you trying to stop me from meeting the King now?” Her voice turned cold and distant all of a sudden.
Maybe, because she hadn’t seen the king for days and now that she was out of the infirmary, something seemed off to Arlan.
“Uhm, well, I suggest maybe you can m-meet the k-king later, Your Grace.” Arlan stammered and slightly bowed his head.
“And why so?” She crossed her arms in front of her chest making Arlan’s uneasiness grow.
“Just tell me, Arlan, or I will be forced to-”
“B-Because the king isn’t in good m-mood, Your Grace.” Arlan instantly blurted out.
Her left brow arched as she heard those words. It wasn’t enough for her not to stay.
She remembered Hades turning into his lycan form, and it was certainly not a good sight to see.
“Then, it will be much better to see him, then.” She said the words with finality causing Arlan to shut his mouth.
Tamara continued walking to the Throne Room, and the sentinel wolf instantly announced her presence and opened the huge door.
But the moment she stepped foot into the room; she felt the eerie menacing dark aura surrounding the entire corners of it.
She heard the door close. Arlan didn’t follow her either, but she didn’t give any more attention to it. Especially the moment her eyes found the King’s pitch-black orbs.
Tamara swallowed hard as she sniffed his addicting scent. She wanted to run towards him and kiss him senselessly, but his stares became so intense that it stopped her from doing so.
The intensity with which it bored became more and more penetrating as the days passed by. It sent shivers down her spine, but something inside her was telling her that there was something wrong with his eyes.
She couldn’t pinpoint what it was, but something seemed off with the king.
“Hi!” She tried to act calm as she greeted him with a smile.
But the king just looked at her coldly which was making her feel like she did something wrong.
Now, she finally confirmed her hunch. He wasn’t in a good mood, really like Arlan had told her.
But why?
“A-Are you okay?” She unsurely inquired as she tried to get near him.
King Hades smirked at her question making her to feel slightly irritated and stop her tracks towards him.
“What do you want?” The King’s cold and distant voice made her slightly flinch.
But it was also making her feel lonely.
‘What the heck happened? Is he mad at me?’
She asked her mind, but as usual, she just couldn’t find the answers within herself.
“Are you mad at me?” She suddenly blurted out.
The king sardonically scoffed at her.
“Why would I?” His voice suddenly turned dangerous making Tamara confused more.
“Exactly. But I wouldn’t know why if you wouldn’t tell me, right?” Tamara innocently told him.
His forehead suddenly creased but his face was still cold and darkened as if he was trying to stifle his emotions.
“I don’t need to tell you everything. Now, get out of this room.” He harshly commanded, like she was just his mere subordinate.
Tamara felt her blood boil in just a snap. She folded her arms in front of her chest and equaled the intensity of the King’s stares.
“Don’t talk to me that way, Hades.” She coldly stated making Hades look away.
“Why can’t you just tell me what’s wrong?” Tamara tried to act calm although she was getting irritated inside.
She was trying her best not to slash at him, although her inner wolf was now restlessly trying to take over her and give the king a piece of her mind.
“Nothing’s wrong. I just don’t want to see you.”
She was stunned by his words. She felt it cut through her heart and it hurt. Her vision instantly blurred with her tears, but she tried to act strong. She clenched her hands into balled fists as she numbed herself with the emotions that were piercing every vein of her heart.
“What do you m-mean?”
No matter how much she tried to act as a strong woman, the king had his own way of melting her every wall of strength. Not to mention how painful the impact of his words was on her.
But the King remained silent and looked away.
“Why did you suddenly turn like this? Why do you have to be so mean to me, right now?” She weakly stated.
But the king suddenly turned so livid that he stood up, and in the blink of an eye, he was already standing in front of her holding her neck.
Tamara felt like she was slowly being suffocated. She shrieked, but no voice came out of her mouth. She tried to remove his hands by smacking it, but it was still gripping tightly at her, but he was just so strong.
His eyes were turning into bloodshot red, and for the first time in her life, she couldn’t believe that the man she had ever loved was the same man who was hurting her right now. A lone tear escaped from her eyes and fell into the king’s hand.
Hades blinked a few times before he let her go.
She coughed so loudly as she held her pained neck. Her moistened eyes squinted as she looked at him.
Tamara fell on the floor and so did her tears. She was slightly disoriented, but the rage lingering inside her heart was already resurfacing and taking over her.
She angrily looked at the King, who seemed remorseful at his own actions. But it was too late because she was already in the heights of her own fury, either.
“Why did you do that? Am I that low that you can do something to hurt me?!” She hurtfully snapped out of him.
King Hades swallowed hard. His face seemed plain and stoic, but his heart was already in the depths of hellish fear. But then, he remembered how Tamara could easily put up with Kage and how it made him equally angry at her.
“You know that I had just came from my lycan form and yet, here you are and trying to anger me.” King Hades simply replied making Tamara’s annoyance and anger grow.
“What the heck are you saying?! I am just asking you! What did I do to anger you?!” She confusedly inquired, but her almond-shaped eyes were already turning the darkest shade of brown.
Hades slightly shook his head as he stared at her sarcastically making Tamara get irritated more.
“Is your infidelity enough for me to be angry?” His voice was slow and emphasized every single word.
“What infidelity are you talking about?” Tamara felt lost with his accusations against her.
Hades sarcastically laughed as he squinted his eyes while staring at her.
“Stop trying to act innocent, my Queen. If you want to be with that f*cking salutary wolf, then, sorry to burst your bubble, but I won’t let you go. Do your responsibility as a Queen and bear me an heir.” He harshly said and smirked at her.
Tamara was dumbfounded.
“And maybe, just maybe, I’ll reconsider of sparing his life.” He coldly continued.
It was a direct confirmation of the things that she was trying to figure out for herself. She weakly smiled at him. Everything that he just said was just too much for her to bear.
She couldn’t believe that it totally hurt her when the truth was already slapped into her face to face with the King.
Although, she had decided on the things that she must be doing, she couldn’t deny the fact that a tiny part of her had hoped that the King loved her, too. That it wasn’t just an unrequited love.
But she was wrong.
She suddenly remembered her sister, Shahara.
‘Now, I know how painful it is to love a heartless man, Shahara.’
She mentally whispered to herself.
Tamara felt like her strength and her will suddenly vanished into thin air. She felt like the miserable state that she was trying to escape suddenly trapped her inside with nowhere to run. She felt like she had lost everything that she was trying to fight for.
“I don’t know w-what are you talking a-about.” She tried to reason it out although she already felt so weary.
But the King just laughed at her without humor.
“Stop trying to reason out. I saw the both of you. A Luna Queen laughing with a mere salutary wolf like they were some sort of an item? What a shameless joke.” Hades turned emotionless as he said those words making Tamara move towards him.
“But I am not lying to you. Kage is just a friend. We are not an item!” She tried to explain, but the King’s mind was already closed and absolute.
Tamara gritted her teeth with ferocity as she suddenly felt her entire body burning just like what happened to her and Shahara on that cliff.
“Oh, yeah. I am not buying that, Tamara. Try harder. Besides, you are already tied to me, and that lover of yours must wait for his next lifetime. Maybe, just maybe, he could already find his luck to have you. But not in this lifetime…” Hades ruthlessly stated as he walked towards her and held her jaw tightly causing her to get hurt.
Tamara flinched, but the King mercilessly just stared at her like he was a different person. His lycan side must try to resurface again. But she didn’t care anymore! He was hurting her physically and more so emotionally and that was enough reason for her to be infuriated!
She smacked his hand that was holding her jaw and furiously stared at Hades who seemed surprised by her actions.
“You are such a jerk, H-Hades…”
She angrily snapped, but she stopped and suddenly gasped for air.
Tamara held her chest as she felt her heart beating swiftly inside her bones. Then, it became so heavy and intolerable that she let out a loud cry although her voice was almost gone and hoarse.
The scorching feeling inside her suddenly seemed unleashed and Tamara couldn’t stop herself anymore, her mind had already gone blank and that she felt like something had already taken over her body.
