Chapter 54
POV: Queen Tamara
Everything was in chaos. Half of the Lunar Mansion was on fire but some of the sentinel wolves were trying to stop it from burning down the entire manor.
The soothing ambiance that it once held was now in ashes dancing with the wind from the raging flame.
Tamara was so stunned the scene was so horrifying and more of a heartbreaking one.
She felt her heart pounding in deep worry as her insides panicked questioning herself what the heck just happened as well as the various hows and whys.
The moment she heard that something was happening in their pack a lot of things were already running into her mind. She was running with all of her strength that Shimuel and Dillion couldn’t keep up on her anymore.
Now, she just couldn’t move her feet because of what was happening just before her very eyes.
Tamara felt the clenching of her heart as she saw everyone trying to cope up with what was happening. She knew that their pack was a close one. Everyone was protecting everyone in unity and in everything. And seeing this unfold in front of her was just so awfully upsetting.
Some dead bodies were scattered around the place letting their own blood water the earthly soil. Everyone was in panic while others were weeping in front of someone’s dead body. Some were badly hurt, and some were limping as they tried to move and stand up. The others were trying to help one another as they got hold of themselves, for the deep stress, shock, and pain was visibly written all over their faces.
Tamara weakly took a step forward, but she unconsciously stopped as she felt her eagerness to find her parents.
Yes, her parents!
She almost forgot that she was there for her parents. She was so drowning with shock that she almost forgot why she went there in the first place.
Tamara hysterically looked around because she was trying to gather her own emotions. She was scared out of her wits to be alone again, and she just knew that if something bad happened to her parents, she would just lose it.
Shahara was still nowhere to be found. She was still mourning for her a sister that she never knew that she was.
And now…
Tamara harshly bit her lower lip as her tears moistened her eyes. She felt her heart pounding so hard inside her hurting her and making her hardly breathe.
“Tamara!” She heard a familiar voice behind her, and when she turned around, she saw Kage worriedly running towards her.
She didn’t know what to feel, but a tinge of hope lighted into her system. Maybe he could help her find her parents. Maybe, he could accompany her as to where they were right now. That was the thing that was running into her mind.
Tamara couldn’t hide the curiosity in her eyes as she looked at him.
He looked like he had been fighting someone. His shirt was ripped exposing his left shoulder blade. His pants were so dirty and almost ripped apart. He had a long wound in his arms where his blood was flowing freely, but he seemed not to know or not to care about it.
“What the heck are you doing here?! It’s too dangerous!” His voice was serious as he moved towards her and looked around as if he was preparing himself if there was something bad to happen.
She could even hear his worry dripping with his tone of voice.
Kage unconsciously pulled her towards a massive tree as he was still being cautious of something. But Tamara didn’t care because she just wanted to know where her parents were.
“Where are my parents, Kage?” She was in panic mode now as she questioned him.
Her voice trembled and her eyes instantly moistened with tears now. She felt like her qualms had been slowly eating her.
“You shouldn’t be here-”
“Where are my parents?!” Her pitch heightened as she felt her throat dry cutting off whatever his litany was.
Kage stared at her for a little while as he let out a deep sigh.
“They are fine, Tamara. But I am telling you, you must be in the palace now. You are safer there.” Kage seriously told her, but she didn’t listen to him.
“Where are they, then? I wanna see them.” She concerningly demanded.
Tamara couldn’t stop herself from worrying. Not if she hadn’t made sure that her parents were safe. She must see for herself that they were okay before she could breathe just fine.
“But-”
“Just take me there, Kage. Please…” She pleadingly asked him.
One thing that a queen shouldn’t be doing, but she didn’t care less. She was desperate. And Kage knew how frantic she was now. He let out a deep sigh of defeat before slightly shaking his head.
“They have minor wounds, but they are fine. They are in the infirmary now. Benson successfully moved them out of the mansion. But he was in critical condition. Something just bombed the other part of the manor where your parents’ room was.” Kage filled her with information as they swiftly went towards the pack’s infirmary.
Tamara held her breath as she heard those words.
“Who the heck did this?” She gritted her teeth as she whispered those words under her breath.
Kage once again let out a frustrated sigh.
“For now, we didn’t know. We are still searching for whoever tried to infiltrate the entire pack. We needed to find whoever it was.” Kage’s voice was laced with unadulterated anger.
She knew how important the pack was to Kage and so it was to her. She unconsciously clenched her both fists as her head was running with so many questions, but she just couldn’t think straight right now.
“Promise me that after you saw your parents, you’ll go back to the palace. This is not a safe place for you.” Kage worriedly stated as they saw the infirmary getting nearer.
Tamara nodded her head, but then due to her heightened senses, she instantly moved into her instinct, and looked at the trees a few meters away from them. She wouldn’t be wrong that she knew she saw a silhouette trying to hide behind the huge tree. It was all wearing a black overall body suit and a black mask covering its entire face except for its eyes.
But then, before she could even react, she saw another holding an arrow, and aimed it at where they were!
Tamara’s eyes widened as she called Kage’s name.
“Move!” She shockingly yelled as she tried to pull him to the tree, but unfortunately, she didn’t expect that another two arrows would shoot them from the other way. She unconsciously pushed Kage.
“Tamara!” Kage’s shock and raging voice called her name as he growled and changed into his wolf form.
Tamara didn’t know what happened next, for all that she could feel was a tinge of pain and the numbness in her upper back until her chest. She saw the tip of the arrow pierce her chest with her blood covered around it, and slowly creeping into her nude-colored dress.
She wanted to crack a joke at herself.
She had so many encounters with life and death situations the moment she knew that she needed to discover her true self. She didn’t know that finding her real identity could be this death-threatening. And now, this seemed like her final streak of luck as she felt the intolerable pain resurfacing into her system. Her eyes were now blurry, and her breathing was just getting heavier as seconds passed by.
Tamara fell to the ground as she could feel her inner wolf limping inside her trying to cheer her up and fight for her dear life. But she was slowly weakening, and she didn’t know why. She slowly closed her eyes.
“Tamara!” She could hear Kage’s voice, but she was just so frail to open her eyes.
And in a split second, she could already feel the coldness of the ground engulfing her with the darkness.

POV: Kage Esmeray
He tried to fight for whoever had shot them, but he was just too fast to escape. And he just couldn’t leave Tamara alone.
Kage turned into his human form as he tried to get nearer at Tamara.
He trembled in fear as he saw her covered in her own blood. He didn’t know what to do and that he just felt his mind in deep haywire.
She had saved him!
He should have been the one being shot, but she just saved him!
Kage didn’t know what to feel, but he felt useless. He should be the one protecting her. She was the princess of the pack and the King’s Queen. He felt his entire system quaked with his sudden fear.
But he knew he needed to do something. He was about to carry Tamara when she felt someone from behind. He gnarled loudly.
“Don’t you dare move her if you want her to live.” A cold voice from an unfamiliar woman stopped his tracks and her voice just sent shivers down his spine, but he wasn’t trustful enough to whoever.
The woman was wearing a black hoody cloak and half of her face was covered with it making it hard for him to recognize who it was.
“Who are you!? Get away!” He angrily spat.
“I am here to help. And I am almost late.” She icily stated sending him shivers once again.
“Don’t you dare come near here!” Kage maddeningly warned her as he stood his ground.
The woman just clicked her tongue and removed her black hood before tossing it on him.
“Cover your nakedness, Mister. And I don’t want to do anything to you. So, please cooperate.” She seriously said, but Kage was just too stubborn that he stood in fighting mode.
The woman in front of him just let out a deep sigh.
Kage felt perplexed for a moment that he had seen her carefully.
Her long straight jet-black hair was flowing freely behind her. Her paperwhite skin was just like snow and her slender body hugged her pure black dress.
But what stunned him the most were her deep purple eyes which were coldly staring at him. They were so cold and unreadable. And they were blank no emotions at all. And her lips it was tainted with purple lipstick!
The woman moved her feet towards Tamara, and he was about to take a step to stop her, but his feet were shockingly glued to the ground.
“What the f*ck!” He unbelievingly hissed but even his words were too difficult to pronounce.
Then, he suddenly remembered that he had the same experience way back when Tamara was still in the infirmary.
“Who the hell are you?!” He loudly asked trying to roll his tongue to say the words and the woman shot him with her death glare.
Kage’s heart pounded to hard inside him, and that made him shut up.
The woman injected something into Tamara’s arm and as odd as it might seem, he was left so dumb and speechless when he saw Tamara breathing once again. The woman even checked her pulse before she stared at him with her cold and unreadable expression.
“The poison can last for a week, but I know she will get better before that. Make sure to stitch her up carefully. I need to go.” She seriously stated before she turned her back at him making his mouth slightly agape.
“W-Wait! Who the heck are you?!” He curiously inquired, but she didn’t even bother to look back.
“Just focus on making her better. You still want something, right? Then, make sure to tend to her or else, you will lose your dear life over someone’s hands. And I know that you know that.” She coldly added as she continued her steps.
“By the way, don’t be driven by your emotions when the time comes. You shouldn’t be foolish and look at the moon instead of your roots.” She meaningfully stated making him more confused.
And before he knew it, she was already gone in front of his very eyes.
Then, Kage felt the heaviness in his body lifted up, and he covered himself with the black hoody cloak. He instantly ran towards the infirmary for he must save Tamara.
He would discover who the heck was that woman soon.
But for now, he must save her.
Or else…
He would be facing the King’s wrath like what she told her.
Kage felt his knees tremble in fear as he imagined himself getting face to face with the King.
He just hoped that woman was right.
He just hoped that Tamara would be saved, or he wouldn’t be.
For even right now, he was still on the verge of being alive or facing his tragic demise.
